今日も朝から暖かい陽射しが降り注ぐ穏やかな日となりました。日本は来週月曜が祝日なので 3 連休の週末となります。気温が少しずつ上がってきているので、そろそろ梅の花が見られるかも知れません。クルミくんは食事の後はおもちゃと遊びたがります。玩具箱から自分で出せないので困ったような顔で見つめられます。でも、すぐに飽きてしまいます。そして疲れて昼寝です。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。

Today is another mild day with warm sunshine from the morning. Next Monday is a national holiday in Japan, so it will be a three-day weekend. The temperature is gradually rising, so we may be able to see plum blossoms soon. After eating, Kurumi wants to play with his toys. He stares at me with a troubled look on my face because he can’t get it out of the toy box by himself. But he soon gets tired of it. Then he gets tired and takes a nap. Today, Kurumi was in good spirits.

今月 4 日に冷蔵庫を新しくしました。冷蔵庫の消費電力を測定していますが、新しい冷蔵庫は確かに半分くらいの消費電力になっています。庫内の容積は同じです。省電力で冷蔵できる技術は素晴らしいものだと思います。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。一人になると寂しくなってしまうのか私たちのそばにきて甘えています。

I installed a new refrigerator on the 4th of this month. I have been measuring the power consumption of the refrigerator, and the new refrigerator is indeed half the power consumption. The interior capacity is the same. I think the technology that enables power-saving refrigeration is wonderful. Kurumi was doing well today. He is pampered by our side, as if he gets lonely when he is alone.

今日も昼間はたっぷりの日差しに恵まれて穏やかな日となりました。月曜の夜に降り積もった雪はすっかり溶けて無くなっています。妻と私は今日も S さんを訪ねました。アイスクリームを食べたいと言っていたので S さんにバニラのアイスクリームを差し上げました。昨日よりも少し元気でたくさん会話をすることができました。私が着ている服を何処で買ったのか聞いていた S さんはお洒落好きです。クルミくんには悪かったのですが、今日も少し長く家で待っていてもらいました。

Today was another mild day with plenty of sunshine during the day. The snow that fell on Monday night has completely melted and disappeared. My wife and I visited Mr. S again today. He said he wanted some ice cream, so we gave him some vanilla ice cream. He was a little better than yesterday and we had a lot of conversation. Mr. S was asking where I bought the clothes I was wearing, he is a fashionista. I am sorry for Kurumi, but I asked him to wait a little longer at home today.

妻と一緒に S さんのお宅に見舞ってきました。癌を患ってしまった S さんは自宅で療養することになって帰ってきていました。すっかり痩せてしまって辛そうでしたが、話をする時間が持てたことに感謝しています。S さんのことを思うと胸が苦しくなります。お宅にはアンジュちゃんというパグ犬がいます。クルミくんの匂いがするのか私の近くで匂いを嗅いでいました。帰宅したらクルミくんが私の匂いを嗅いでいました。犬は嗅覚が鋭いです。

My wife and I visited Mr. S at his home. Mr. S. had been diagnosed with cancer and had come home to recuperate at home. He had lost a lot of weight and seemed to be in pain, but I was grateful that we had time to talk. They have a pug dog named Ange. He was sniffing near me, as if he could smell Kurumi’s scent. When I came home, Kurumi was sniffing me. Dogs have a keen sense of smell.

深夜に止んだ雪は 20 cm 積もっていました。ポーチまでのアプローチと歩道の雪かきをしたら汗をかいてしまいました。水を多く含んだ雪はとても重たく、雪かきは重労働でした。寒い日でしたから朝から薪ストーブに火を入れて温まっています。明日は天気が回復するようです。クルミくんは私たちがずっと側にいたので安心して過ごしていました。

The snow stopped at midnight, but there was 20 cm of snow on the ground. I was sweating when I shoveled the approach to the porch and the sidewalk. The watery snow was very heavy and the shoveling was hard work. It was a cold day, so I lit the wood stove in the morning to warm up. The weather is supposed to improve tomorrow. Kurumi was relieved that we were by his side the whole time.

午後から雪が降り始めました。今夜も降り続くようで久しぶりに積もりそうです。買い物から帰ってきたら車の周囲には雪が付いていて、カメラも機能しませんでした。電気自動車は熱を出さないので、ボンネットの雪も溶けることはありません。明日は家で仕事をします。クルミくんは朝、定期診察を受けてきました。今日も異常なし、と診断されて安心しました。

It started snowing in the afternoon. It seems like it will continue to snow tonight, and it’s likely to accumulate for the first time in a while. When I returned from shopping, there was snow around the car, and the camera didn’t work either. Electric cars don’t generate heat, so the snow on the hood doesn’t melt. I’ll be working from home tomorrow. Kurumi went for his regular check-up in the morning. He was diagnosed with no abnormalities again today, which was a relief.

新しい冷蔵庫が届きました。これまで使ってきた冷蔵庫が扉から出るか心配だったのですが、上手に出していただくことができました。新しい冷蔵庫は幅が今までのものより少し狭く、その分、奥行きがあります。無線 LAN の機能が組み込まれていて、リモートで制御できるのも便利です。冷蔵庫の入れ替えが終わったら、薪ストーブ仲間の W さんが伐採木を運んできてくれました。ちょうど薪棚に空きができていたので、そこに収めることができました。この木は年末まで乾かす必要があります。クルミくんは知らない人が家に来てもおとなしくしていました。

Our new refrigerator arrived. We were worried about whether the refrigerator we have been using would come out of the door, but we were able to get it out successfully. The new refrigerator is a little narrower in width than the old one, but has more depth. It is also convenient that it has built-in wireless LAN capability and can be controlled remotely. After the refrigerator was replaced, Mr. W, a fellow wood stove owner, brought in the wood from the logging yard. There was just an opening in the firewood rack, so I was able to fit it in there. This wood will need to be dried until the end of the year. Kurumi was quiet when strangers came to the house.

週末はクルミくんと多くの時間を過ごすことができます。今日もクルミくんは元気にしていました。陽の入るリビングは温かく気持ちが良い週末でした。クルミくんの右足は不自由さが残っていますが、日常の生活は大丈夫になりました。

On weekends, I get to spend a lot of time with Kurumi. Today, too, Kurumi was doing well. The living room was warm and sunny, and it was a pleasant weekend. Kurumi’s right leg is still crippled, but his daily life is now fine.

朝から寒い、曇った日でした。お昼になっても晴れてこないので薪ストーブを使いだしました。午後 2 時を過ぎた頃から急に天気が回復して、強い陽射しも感じられるようになりました。明るい時間から少し煙を出してしまい、近隣の方々に迷惑をかけてしまいました。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んでいました。

It was a cold, cloudy morning. It did not clear up by noon, so I started using the wood stove. The weather suddenly recovered after 2:00 p.m. and we could feel the strong sunshine. The stove started to emit a little smoke during the day time, causing trouble for the neighbors. Kurumi was playing energetically today.

今日は隣の県にある工場で仕事をしてきました。自宅から片道 70km の道のりです。朝の高速道路は渋滞が数箇所あり、1 時間半かかってしまいました。帰りは 1 時間、順調なドライブでした。工場のある場所は片田舎で、とても静かな環境です。今日は青空で気持ちが良い一日でした。帰宅してクルミくんの歯磨きガムで遊ぶことができました。クルミくんは私が帰るとこの歯磨きガムをねだってくるようになりました。

Today I worked at a factory in a neighboring prefecture. It is 70 km one way from my home. There were several traffic jams on the highway in the morning and it took me 1.5 hours to get there. On the way back, it was a smooth one-hour drive. The factory is located in a rural area, and the environment is very quiet. It was a nice day with blue sky. I came home and was able to play with Kurumi’s toothpaste gum. Kurumi has been begging for this toothpaste gum when I come home.
