クルミは眠くなると妻の膝の上に行きたがります。クルミの体重は 2kg 程度なのですが、それでも眠ってしまうと重く感じるものです。長い時間、膝に乗せていると疲れてしまいます。クルミが眠った頃を見計らってそっと下ろしてやります。
家事の合間を見つけて、プログラミングの再開です。マイコンを使って、連結された LED を制御するのですが、時間を忘れてしまいます。次の挑戦は楽器の音に合わせて LED を点灯させます。144 鍵盤のピアノを対象としているのですが、マイコンのメモリー容量が足りないので今は 100 個の LED までの制御しかできません。

When Kurumi gets sleepy, he wants to sit on my wife’s lap. Kurumi weighs only about 2kg, but he still feels heavy when he fall asleep. If I put him on my lap for a long time, I will get tired. When Kurumi is asleep, I gently put him down.
Find a break in housework and resume programming. I use a microcomputer to control connected LEDs, but I forget the time when I was programing. The next challenge is to light up the LED according to the sound of the instrument. The target is a 144-key piano, but the memory capacity of the microcomputer is limited, so currently it can only control up to 100 LEDs.

朝寝坊してしまい、今朝は初日の出を見ることができませんでした。最近、明け方の冷え込みで目が覚めてしまうのでエアコンのタイマーをセットして寝室を温めるようにしています。妻も快適に眠ることができると言っています。足元にある湯たんぽも温かく、どうしても起き出すのが遅くなってしまいます。
クルミとも新年の挨拶をして元旦を穏やかに、そしていつも通りに過ごしています。今朝はクルミの爪も切ってやり、少し世話をする時間が長かったのかクルミは吠えていました。異国の地にいる息子夫婦ともメッセージを交わし、新年があけました。

I overslept and couldn’t see the sunrise this morning. Recently, I’ve been waking up in the cold at dawn, so I’ve been trying to warm up my bedroom by setting the timer on the air conditioner. My wife also says she can sleep comfortably. The hot water bottle at my feet is also warm, and I can’t help but get up late.
Kurumi and I are spending New Year’s Day calmly and as usual. This morning I also cut his nails, and Kurumi was barking because it took a long time to take care of him. I exchanged messages with my son and his wife in a foreign land, and the new year began.

クルミの写真を撮り続けて 2 年になろうとしています。毎日、愛犬が中心の生活をして久しい私たち夫婦です。チャオ、クッキー、プリン、クルミと長年ヨークシャテリアと生活してきました。クルミは 13 歳、一番長生きの犬となりました。嬉しい年の瀬を迎えています。犬と一緒だと行動が限られますが、犬が与えてくれる癒しはそんな苦労も忘れさせてくれます。
今日も義妹が妻の介助に来てくれました。一年の汚れを落とすのだと言って妻の身体を洗ってくれました。本当にありがたいことです。こうしてみんなに支えられながら生活できることに感謝して新年を迎えます。

I’ve been photographing Kurumi for almost two years now. It’s been a long time since we’ve been living with our dog every day. We have lived with Yorkshire Terriers for many years with Chiao, Cookie, Purin, and Kurumi. At 13 years old, Kurumi became the longest-lived dog in our history. Happy New Year’s Eve. When we are with a dog, our actions are limited, but the healing that a dog gives us makes forget about that hardship.
My sister-in-law came to help my wife again today. She washed my wife’s body saying that it was to remove the dirt of the year. I am truly grateful. In this way, we welcome the new year with gratitude for being able to live while being supported by everyone.

今日は煙突トップのタール除去作業をしました。タール状になって固まっていたので削り取るのに苦労しました。煙突内部の掃除は定期的に行っているのですが、トップの掃除は久しぶりでした。タールは高温になると発火する危険性があります。
毎朝、クルミの世話をするのですが、まだ慣れません。クルミも嫌なことをされるので動き回ってしまいます。なるべくクルミが自ら受け入れるように努力しています。13 歳になったクルミは我が強くなっていて時間がかかりそうです。

I did the chimney top tar removal work today. I had a hard time scraping it off because it turned into tar and solidified. I regularly clean the inside of the chimney, but it’s been a long time since I cleaned the top. Tar can ignite at high temperatures.
I take care of Kurumi every morning, but I’m still not used to it. Kurumi is also harassed, so he moves around. I try to make Kurumi accepts himself as much as possible. Kurumi, now 13 years old, is getting stronger and it looks like it will take time.

今日はクルミの誕生日です。13 歳、おめでとう。

Today is Kurumi’s birthday. Happy 13th!

Apple Mac を愛用しています。家では純正のマウスを使っていますが、昨日から調子が悪くなり、Mac と接続できなくなりました。長年使ってきたので買い替えることにしました。新しいマウスは充電式なので電池交換が不要です。
今日は仕事納めの日、会社に行って業務報告書を提出しながら、年末の挨拶をしてきました。新年は 1 月 5 日から営業開始ですが、シンガポールの会社は 1 月 3 日から営業、年末のお休みもないので、私は少し忙しい年末年始になりそうです。
クルミは久しぶりにおもちゃ箱からおもちゃを出せとねだっていました。

I love to use my Apple Mac. I’m using a genuine mouse at home, but since yesterday it’s been acting up and I can’t connect to my Mac. I have used it for many years and decided to replace it. The new mouse is rechargeable, so I don’t need to change batteries.
Today was the last working day this year, I went to the company to submit my business report and gave my year-end greetings. The new year starts on January 5th, but my other contracted company in Singapore will be open from January 3rd, and there will be no holidays at the end of the year, so I’m going to be a little busy over the year-end and New Year holidays.
Kurumi was begging for toys from the toy box for the first time in a long time.

今日はやっと年賀状を作成する時間が取れました。夜になってしまいましたが、印刷を行いました。今年は家族の写真を使わせてもらうことにしました。家族が平和で幸せに暮らせることに感謝しています。年々、枚数は少なくなりますが、続けたいと思います。
クルミは今日も元気に過ごしていました。あと 2 日で 13 歳の誕生日を迎えるクルミです。

Today I finally had time to make a New Year’s card. It was night, but I printed. This year I decided to use a family photo. I am grateful that my family can live in peace and happiness. Every year, the number of cards decreases, but I would like to continue.
Kurumi was doing well today as well. He will be celebrating his 13th birthday in two days.

夕方、クルミを連れて獣医を訪ねました。先週のフォローアップをしていただき、耳の調子が良くなっているので安心しました。先週入れてもらった薬が効いているようです。今日、もう一度、同じ薬を入れてもらいました。耳の中の毛を定期的に抜いてやれると良いのですが。クルミは私が彼の顔の近くを世話していると急に動くので心配です。

In the evening I took Kurumi to visit the vet. He had a follow-up last week, and I’m relieved that his ears are getting better. The medicine the vet gave him last week seems to be working. Today, he got the same medicine again. It would be nice if the hair in the ears could be plucked regularly. I’m worried about Kurumi because he jerks when I take care of him near his face.

今週使う焚き付け用の薪を準備しました。クルミは薪の匂いを嗅いでいました。以前は木屑を噛んで遊んでいたのですが、今はもうやらなくなりました。今日も昼間は太陽の暖かさに包まれて穏やかに過ごすことができました。しかし、雪が多く降る地域では今年も記録的な大雪で苦しんでいます。妻とクリスマスの夕食をイタリアンレストランで食べようと予約していたのですが、キャンセルしました。元気になったらまた行きましょう。

I prepared chopped firewoods for kindling this week. Kurumi smelled the firewood. He used to play with chewing wood chips, but now he doesn’t do that anymore. Today, we were able to spend the day calmly wrapped in the warmth of the sun. However, areas that get a lot of snow are suffering from record heavy snow this year. My wife and I canceled a reservation for Christmas dinner at an Italian restaurant. Let’s go again when she gets well.

電車で東京駅まで行ったのは何年ぶりのことでしょうか、以前は毎日、この電車で通勤していたことを思い出しました。東京駅で乗り換えて蒲田まで行きました。大きな大学の試験会場にはおよそ 500 人の人が受験に来ていました。コロナ対策をしているので会場は異様なほど静かでした。無事に試験を終えて東京駅で途中下車、妻にお菓子を買って帰ることとしました。試験結果は 1 ヶ月後に郵送されてくるそうで、合格していることを願います。
今日は薪ストーブの温度がなかなか上がらず、クルミも待ち遠しそうにしていました。夕食が終わる頃、薪ストーブも温度が上がり、暖かくなった部屋で眠っていました。

It’s been years since I last went to Tokyo Station by train, and I remembered that I used to take this train to work every day. I changed trains at Tokyo Station and went to Kamata. About 500 people came to take the exam at the big university exam hall. The venue was strangely quiet because of corona measures. After successfully completing the exam, I decided to get off the train at Tokyo Station, buy some sweets for my wife, and go home. I heard that the test results will be mailed to me after one month, so I hope I passed.
Today, the temperature of the wood stove did not rise easily, and Kurumi seemed to be impatient. By the time dinner was over, the temperature of the wood stove had risen, and he was sleeping in a warm room.
