秋分の日の休日、今日も家の手入れをして過ごしました。カーポートの雨樋に手作りの網を設置して枯葉が入るのを防いでいます。先日の嵐でこの網が取れてしまいました。クリップを新しくして元通りにしてみました。テラスの掃除をしていて、屋根にも多くの雹が当たった跡を確認しました。太陽光パネルは被害を受けずに助かりました。近くの畑では里芋の葉が雹でボロボロになってしまっていました。クルミくんは新しいガムを買ってもらいました。今日の夕食の後、与えてみます。眠っていても時々、私が側に居ることを確認しています。

On the autumnal equinox holiday, I spent today taking care of my house. I installed a handmade netting on the carport gutter to prevent dead leaves from getting in. This netting came off in a recent storm. I used new clips and put it back in place. While cleaning the terrace, I observed many hail marks on the roof as well. The solar panels were saved from damage. In a nearby field, taro leaves were torn to pieces by hail. Kurumi got a new gum. I will give him some after dinner today. Even when he is sleeping, he sometimes checks to see that I am by his side.

日本語を教えている施設には室内プールがあるのですが、そのガラス窓が雹で割れてしまったようで、休館になっていました。ガラスの破片がプールに沈んでいる恐れがあり、入念な点検とガラス窓の修理のため、当分の間使えなくなってしまいました。私は Mac と iPhone を最新版のソフトウェアに更新して、ミラーリングを試してみています。Mac で仕事をしている時でも iPhone の画面を Mac から操作できるのは便利です。技術の進歩に触れて楽しんでいます。クルミくんは今日も食事の後、吐き出してしまいました。昨日から続いている症状です。明日も続くようなら獣医に診てもらいます。

The facility where I teach Japanese has an indoor swimming pool, but its glass window seems to have been broken by hail and it was closed. There is a fear that pieces of glass may have sunk into the pool, so it is out of service for the time being for a careful inspection and repair of the glass window. I have updated my Mac and iPhone to the latest version of the software and am experimenting with mirroring; it is convenient to be able to control my iPhone screen from my Mac even when I am working on my Mac. I enjoy being in touch with the progress of technology. Kurumi threw up again today after eating. This is a symptom that has continued since yesterday. If it continues tomorrow, we will take him to the vet.

雹の被害が徐々に明らかになっています。風水害による被害は自分が入っている保険で対応する必要があります。テニススクールでも車に凹みができてしまい困っているといった会話が聞かれました。私の家のポストの蓋は壊れてしまいましたが、カーポートは被害を受けませんでした。 2 軒先のカーポートの屋根には穴がたくさん開いていて、車にも被害があったようです。ポストは透明なアクリル板を使って応急修理してみました。クルミくんは今朝、食欲が無かったようで、少し元気がなく心配しました。でも午後には元気になって食欲も戻ってきて安心しています。

Hail damage is slowly becoming evident. Damage caused by wind and water damage should be addressed by own insurance. I have heard conversations at the tennis school about the dents in their cars and the problems they are having. My house post lid was broken, but my carport was not damaged. The roof of the carport two houses away had many holes in it and there was damage to the car. I made emergency repairs to the post using a clear acrylic board. Kurumi seemed to have lost his appetite this morning and was a little listless, which worried us. But in the afternoon, he got better and his appetite returned, which is a relief.

今日も 36℃になる猛暑の日でした。9 月 20 日だというのにまだこの暑さが続いています。昨日、夕方には竜巻のような強風、激しい雷雨、大粒の雹が降る怖いくらいの天気になりました。家中が雹に叩き付けられている間、強風で家が揺れ、豪雨のために道は川のようになり、本当に危険を感じていました。雹の被害はこの地域に限られていたようですが、私の車にも数箇所の凹みが残されてしまいました。早く涼しい秋になってほしいものです。クルミくんは今日も元気にしていました。お腹が空くと起きて、食べると寝る、そんな日々を送っています。

Today was another hot day with temperatures reaching 36°C. It is September 20 and yet this heat is still continuing. Yesterday, the weather turned scary in the evening with tornado-like strong winds, severe thunderstorms, and large hail. While the whole house was being pummeled by hail, the strong winds were shaking the house and the roads were like rivers due to the torrential downpour, making us feel really unsafe. The hail damage seemed to be limited to this area, but it left a few dents on my car. I hope for a cooler fall soon. Kurumi was doing well today. He wakes up when he is hungry and sleeps when he eats.

今夜は久しぶりに友人との「グルメ会」でした。Y さん、W(E) さんと一緒に今夜はお好み焼きを堪能してきました。同じ会社で働いた私たちの話題はどうしても職場のことになってしまいます。人の出入りが激しい職場もあり、人間関係の構築に苦労する人も多いようです。私は学生時代からの友人と北海道旅行を控えていて、その話題を提供しました。今年で 70 歳になる連中と最後の旅行になるかも知れません。クルミくんは最近、少しお腹の具合が変わってきました。排尿と排便の回数が多くて気になっています。もう直ぐ 15 歳になるクルミくんにとって、体調の変化は防げないのかも知れません。極力、一緒にいる時間を多くしています。

Tonight was my first “gourmet” party with friends in a while. We worked at the same company, and our topics of conversation inevitably turned to our organization. Some workplaces have a lot of people coming and going, and many people seem to have a hard time building relationships. I offered the topic of my upcoming trip to Hokkaido with friends from my school days. This may be my last trip with these guys, who will turn 70 this year. Kurumi’s stomach has changed a little recently. He has been urinating and defecating a lot, which has been bothering me. Kurumi will soon be 15 years old, and we may not be able to prevent changes in his condition. I try to spend as much time as possible with him.

先月、車のソフトウェアを更新してから初めての充電になりました。電圧は 445V で制限されていて、エラーが出ることなく充電できました。日本ではチャデモという規格が一般的になっていますが、充電電圧が 450V で制限されてしまうのが難点です。多くの電気自動車が販売されるようになってきました。これからも改善が進んでいくことと思います。クルミくんは相変わらず元気に毎日を過ごしています。今年は暑い日が続いていて庭に出ることもできません。早く涼しくなれば良いのですが。

This was my first charge since updating the car’s software last month. The voltage is limited at 445V and I was able to charge without any errors. In Japan, the standard called Chademo is commonly used, but the problem is that the charging voltage is limited at 450V. Many electric vehicles are now on the market. I am sure that improvements will continue to be made in the future. Kurumi is spending his days as usual in good health. It has been too hot this year to go out in the garden. I hope it will cool down soon.

屋久島の弥生杉が台風 10 号によって倒されてしまいました。樹齢 3,000 年を越える立派な屋久杉でした。年々強力になる台風の襲来に恐れを感じます。台風が過ぎ去って、やっと太陽の光を見ることができています。これで少し涼しさもやってくると良いのですが、どうもまた暑い日が戻ってきそうです。

The Yayoi cedars of Yakushima were toppled by Typhoon No. 10. It was a magnificent Yakusugi cedar over 3,000 years old. I feel fearful of typhoons that become more powerful every year. Now that the typhoon has passed, we can finally see the sunlight. I hope this will bring some cooler weather, but it looks like the hot days will return.

今週は台風 10 号の影響で悪天候が続いています。非常に進む速度が遅い台風は九州地方に大きな災害を起こしています。海面水温が高いために肥大化する台風はその勢力に驚く限りです。愛車は最新のソフトウェアになりました。また、足元からの異音についても確認されて原因と思われる部品交換をしていただきました。作業の様子を動画で報告してくれるサービスは安心感があります。クルミくんは元気にしています。少し涼しくなったら一緒に出かける予定です。

This week has been marked by bad weather conditions due to Typhoon No. 10. The typhoon, which is moving very slowly, is causing major disasters in the Kyushu region. The typhoon is growing in size due to high sea surface temperatures, and its force is astonishing. My car is now up to date with the latest software. They also had a strange noise from the foot of the car confirmed and replaced parts that may have been the cause. The service, which provides video reports of the work being done, is reassuring. Kurumi is doing well. We plan to go out with him when it cools down a little.

プログラミングの業務に追われています。作って、検証、直して、検証の繰り返しです。歳をとった頭で考えているので、時間がかかってしまいます。しかし、最近は AI の助けを借りることができるのでとても助かっています。間違えた状況を入力すると直す提案を出してきます。世の中の多くのモノがソフトウェアで動くようになりました。家の車も電動車ですからソフトウェアに支配されています。今日からその更新のために入庫することになりました。さて、どのような修正が行われるか楽しみです。クルミくんは相変わらず、元気にしています。朝は起こすまで眠っているようになりました。

I have been busy with programming work. It is a repetition of make, verify, fix, verify. It takes me a long time because I am thinking with my old head. However, recently I can take help from AI, which is very helpful. If I input a wrong situation, it will give me suggestions to fix it. Many things in the world are now software-operated. The car in my house is also governed by software because it is an electric car. Today it is going in to garage for its update. Now, I am looking forward to seeing what fixes will be made. Kurumi is, as usual, doing well. He is now sleeping until we wake him up in the morning.

夜、雷鳴を伴って豪雨となりました。瞬間でしたが停電もありました。最近は豪雨が時々降ります。芝の生育が早く、週末は汗を流しながらの庭仕事でした。この暑さはまだしばらく続きそうでうんざりとしています。睡蓮鉢に泳ぐ金魚たちは暑さのなか元気に泳いでいます。クルミくんはトリミングに行ってきてさっぱりしています。

At night, it rained with thunder. It was a power cut in moment. It rains heavily sometimes these days. The grass grows quickly, and I worked hard on the weekends. This heat will continue for a while. I’m tired of it today. Goldfishes in a water lily bowl are swimming energetically even in this heat condition.
