日本の滝百選に選ばれている払沢の滝を訪れてきました。駐車場に車を停めてから滝までおよそ 1km の道はせせらぎが聞こえる川沿い、木のチップが敷き詰められていて歩きやすい道でした。今日も猛暑でしたが、滝の側は涼しく、とても気持ちが良い空間でした。近くのカフェはエアコンが効いた室内にクルミも入れたので助かりました。窓際は満席でしたが、そこからは川のせせらぎが見られるようです。美味しいランチをいただきました。暑い日なのでクルミを連れて行くのは気が引けましたが、やはりみんなで来てよかったと思います。

We visited the Hossawa-no-taki Waterfall, which has been selected as one of Japan’s top 100 waterfalls. The approximately 1km path from the parking lot to the waterfall follows a riverbank where you can hear the babbling stream, and it’s a comfortable walk with wood chips laid on the ground. Despite the scorching heat today, the area around the waterfall was cool and provided a very pleasant atmosphere. The nearby cafe was a relief with its air-conditioned interior and they even welcome Kurumi. Although the window seats were fully occupied, it seems you could still catch a glimpse of the river’s babbling from there. I enjoyed a delicious lunch. It was a hot day, and I hesitated to bring Kurumi along, but I still think it was great that everyone came together.

世界水泳大会が日本の福岡で開催されています。若い選手たちが記録を塗り替えていく姿に感動します。人間はどこまで早く泳ぐことができるようになるのでしょうか？人間はどこまで高いところから飛び降りることができるようになるのでしょうか？素晴らしいことです。クルミくんは獣医に月健診をしてもらいました。最近、少し体調を崩しているのはエアコンの冷たい風の影響かもしれないと聞いたので、今夜は温度を少し上げて眠ろうと思います。

The World Swimming Championships are being held in Fukuoka, Japan. I am deeply moved by the sight of young athletes rewriting records. How fast can humans eventually swim? How high can humans eventually dive from? It’s amazing. As for Kurumi, he had his monthly health check-up at the veterinarian. I heard that he’s been a little under the health lately, possibly due to the cold air from the air conditioner. So, tonight, I plan to raise the temperature a bit and get sleep.

朝の散歩では夏に咲く花々を見るようになりました。朝日に照らされた小高い丘には枯れてしまった楢の木が目立ちます。今年も被害が出ているのでしょうか？家に帰ってみるとリビングの窓にバッタが停まっています。家の庭には多くのバッタがいます。そしてそれを餌にするトカゲが出てきます。妻はトカゲを見ると驚いて嫌がります。トカゲを餌にする蛇もいるのかも知れません。小さな庭ですが、生き物たちの世界があります。
今日、クルミくんは食事の時間になっても眠っていました。今日はどこにも出かけなかったので疲れていることはないはずです。いつもと様子が少し違っただけでも私たちはクルミくんのことが心配になってしまいます。

I have started to see the summer flowers on my morning walks. The withered oak trees stand out on the small hill bathed in the morning sun. I wonder if they have been affected again this year. When I returned home, I noticed a grasshopper perched on the living room window. There are many grasshoppers in the garden, and the lizards that prey on them emerge as well. My wife gets surprised and repelled by the sight of the lizards. There might even be snakes that prey on the lizards. Despite being a small garden, it is a world of creatures.
Today, Kurumi was still asleep during mealtime. Since we didn’t go anywhere today, there shouldn’t be any reason for him to be tired. Even a slight change in his behavior makes us worry about Kurumi.

JR 山手線が信号機設備の故障で深夜から運転ができなくなりました。電気の設備故障だと思われますが、月曜の朝から修理に追われた人は大変だったことでしょう。9 時に修理が終わり、運転が再開されています。設備が老朽化してくるとどこで故障が起こるかわかりません。電気設備についても定期的な検査が必要になります。しかし、電気設備は機械的な老朽化とは違うので、その検出は難しいことなのでしょう。月曜の朝、通勤の足が乱されたようですが、予定よりも早く修復できたことはよかったです。
クルミくんはトリミングに行ってきました。毛を短くしてもらいさっぱりしています。午後は疲れたのかぐっすりと眠っています。

The JR Yamanote Line became unable to operate from late at night due to a signal equipment malfunction. It seems to be an electrical equipment failure, and those involved in the repairs must have had a tough time since Monday morning. The repairs were completed at 9 o’clock, and the operation has resumed. As the facilities age, it’s unpredictable where a breakdown may occur. Regular inspections are necessary for electrical equipment as well. However, detecting issues with electrical equipment is difficult, unlike mechanical aging. Although Monday morning’s commute was disrupted, it was fortunate that the repairs could be completed earlier than expected.
Kurumi went for grooming. His fur was trimmed, and he feels refreshed. In the afternoon, he must have been tired as he is sound asleep.

今日は週末の日曜日です。退職して依頼、曜日の感覚が薄れてきました。何曜日であろうと同じように生活するようになりました。早く寝て、早く起きています。今朝もクルミより早く起きてコーヒーを淹れて新聞を読みました。ちょうど新聞を読み終える頃になるとクルミが起きて私を吠えて呼びます。週末の楽しみはのんびりと家で過ごすことと、夕飯時のアルコールです。今日もクルミとたくさん遊ぶことができました。日が陰ったらクルミと庭に出てみます。クルミも曜日に関係なく、同じように暮らしています。

Today is Sunday, the weekend. Since retiring, my sense of weekdays has blurred. I now live my life the same way regardless of what day it is. I go to bed early and wake up early. This morning, I woke up earlier than Kurumi, made coffee, and read the newspaper. Just as I finished reading, Kurumi woke up and barked calling for me. The weekend enjoyment for me is spending leisure time at home and having a drink during dinner. Today, I had plenty of time to play with Kurumi. When the sun sets, I’ll go out to the garden with Kurumi. Kurumi lives the same way, regardless of the day of the week also.

今日、梅雨が開けたと気象庁は発表しました。そのことを証明するかのような天気になっています。青い空に浮かぶ白い雲が綺麗です。この景色は車の充電ステーションからの眺めになります。この場所は 2 台の充電ができるのですが、今日は私一人でした。25 分過ぎたところで初めて見る電気自動車が入ってきました。韓国のヒュンダイというメーカーの ionic5 です。運転手はこの場所が初めてなので戸惑っていました。操作パネルの扱い方を教えて、しばしの間、電気自動車について話すことができました。
クルミはお腹が空いたのか食事時間まで 30 分もあるのに騒いでいました。そして、食事が終わるとおもちゃで遊ぶクルミです。

Today, the Japan Meteorological Agency announced that the rainy season has ended. The weather seems to prove their statement, with a beautiful sky adorned with white clouds floating. This view is seen from the car charging station. This location can accommodate two charging spots, but today, I was the only one there. After about 25 minutes, I saw the first electric vehicle enter the station. It was a Hyundai ionic5, from a Korean manufacturer. The driver seemed confused as it was his first time at this location. I showed him how to use the operation panel and we had a brief conversation about electric vehicles.
Kurumi, seemed restless, perhaps feeling hungry even though there was still 30 minutes until mealtime. After the meal, Kurumi played with his toys.

夕方から待望の雨が降りました。強い雨が短時間で止んでしまいましたが、庭の草花は喜んでいます。雨が多くて困る地域がある反面、全く降らない所もあります。この地域も梅雨明けが近いようです。そしてまた暑い日々が訪れます。今日は妻と年に一度の健康診断に行ってきました。結果は後日、送られてくるとのことです。お互いに健康でいられることを願っています。クルミは今日も元気に遊んで、吠えて、食べて、そして眠っています。

It rained as expected in the evening. The heavy rain stopped after a short while, but the garden flowers are delighted. While some regions are struggling with excessive rain, others have not seen any rain at all. It seems like the rainy season will end soon in this area too, and hot days will come again. Today, I went for the annual health checkup with my wife. The results will be sent to us later. We hope that both of us will remain healthy. Kurumi is lively as usual today, playing, barking, eating, and sleeping.

今日は少し遠くのショッピングモールに行きました。クルミにはペットホテルで待っていてもらい、妻と私は買い物をして、昼食を摂って、カフェで一休み、久しぶりに少しのんびりしました。その間、車の充電をしました。充電ステーションでは珍しい車を見ることができました。既に販売は終えたものなのですが、綺麗なスポーツカーです。プラグインハイブリッドなので充電ステーションを使うことができます。一度、運転席に座ったことがありますが、乗り降りには苦労しました。
クルミは 3 時間も待たされて、少しご機嫌斜めでした。あかんべーをしていました。

We went to a shopping mall a little far away today. We left our dog, Kurumi, at a pet hotel and my wife and I went shopping, had lunch, took a break at a cafe, and relaxed a bit after a long time. During that time, we also charged the car. At the charging station, we saw a rare car that is no longer available for sale, but it’s a beautiful sports car. It’s a plug-in hybrid, so it can use the charging station. I’ve sat in the driver’s seat once, but getting in and out was a bit difficult.
Kurumi had to wait for three hours, and he was a little upset. He was pouting.

昨日の予報の通り、気温は少し下がりましたが、今日も 30℃ を超える気温になっています。朝のニュースでは、にわか雨が夕方降ると言われていましたが、結局、一滴の雨も降らずに夜になろうとしています。庭の草花は水を欲しがっています。
クルミは今日も元気に過ごしています。朝、妻に世話をしてもらい、今日も可愛い服を着せてもらっています。クルミは毎日、異なる服を着せてもらって満足しているようです。

As predicted in yesterday’s forecast, the temperature has dropped slightly, but today it’s still exceeding 30°C. The morning news mentioned a brief shower in the evening, but in the end, not a single drop of rain fell, and it’s getting closer to night. The flowers in the garden are longing for water.
Kurumi is having a good day as well. In the morning, my wife took care of him, and he’s wearing a cute outfit today too. Kurumi seems satisfied with wearing different clothes every day.

我が家の床は全室フローリングになっています。掃除とワックスの手間がかかりますが埃も少なく快適です。最新型の掃除機を購入して床掃除をしてみました。掃除機の先端にある光源が埃を目立たせてくれます。こんなにも汚れているのか、と驚きです。そして、この掃除機は水拭き機能を備えています。楽な姿勢で床を綺麗にすることができて満足しました。
今回の暑さは今日が峠で、明日からは少し気温が下がると聞いて安心しています。クルミは今日も庭にでることができませんでした。写真を撮ろうと思うとクルミはいつも眠っていました。

All the floors in my house are made of woodedn flooring. It takes some effort to clean and wax them, but there is less dust, and it’s comfortable. I purchased the latest model of a vacuum cleaner and tried cleaning the floors. The light source at the tip of the vacuum cleaner makes the dust more noticeable. I’m surprised at how dirty it is. Also, this vacuum cleaner has a mopping function. I was satisfied with being able to clean the floor in a comfortable position.
I heard that today is the peak of the current heat, and I’m relieved to know that the temperature will drop a bit starting from tomorrow. Kurumi couldn’t go out into the garden today either. Whenever I tried to take a photo, he was always asleep.
