今年前期の大学講座は妻が怪我をしたので諦めましたが、後期に応募して、9 月から近くの大学講座に通うことになりました。学生に混ざって市民 5 人の枠があり、そこに入ることができました。受講の手引きが送られてきたので注意深く読んでいます。まだ 1 ヶ月先のことですが、今から楽しみです。クルミくんは今日もよく遊んで、よく寝て、そしてよく食べていました。

I gave up on the university course for the first half of this year because my wife got injured, but I applied for the second half and will be attending a nearby university course starting in September. Among the students, there were 5 spots available for local residents, and I was able to secure one of those. I have received the course guidelines and I am reading them carefully. Although it’s still a month away, I’m looking forward to it. As for Kurumi, he played a lot, slept well, and ate well today as well.

妻と二人でクルミくんのドッグフードを買いに出かけました。近くのレストランで昼食にしました。この店は搾りたてのオレンジジュースを提供しているので妻も気に入っています。しかし、今日は 100% オレンジではなく、他の柑橘系の果物を混ぜて搾っていました。オレンジの価格が高騰しているのかも知れません。ペットショップではクルミくんの処方食も売り切れていました。何かが起きているのかも知れません。帰宅してからクルミくんとおもちゃで遊びました。彼は数え切れないたくさんのおもちゃを持っていますが、遊ぶのは 1, 2 個です。今日もお気に入りのおもちゃで遊んでいました。

I went out to buy Kurumi’s dog food with my wife. We had lunch at a nearby restaurant. My wife likes this place because they serve freshly squeezed orange juice. However, today it wasn’t 100% orange; they were mixing it with other citrus fruits when squeezing. Perhaps the price of oranges has gone up. The prescription food for Kurumi was also sold out at the pet shop. Something might be going on. After returning home, I played with Kurumi with his toys. He has countless toys, but he only plays with one or two. Today, he was playing with his favorite toy again.

朝から不安定な天気が続きましたが、夕方になってやっと安定してきました。少し涼しい風も感じられます。台風 7 号は各地に大きな爪痕を残して通り過ぎていきました。今年はこのような台風がまだ来るのかも知れません。私が住む地域の直撃は避けられましたが、被災された地域は大きな打撃を受けました。私は 3 ヶ月毎の眼科健診を受けてきました。今日も医師は優しく話しかけてくれました。患者との会話を大切にしてくれる医師に感謝です。クルミくんは義理の妹が来てくれたので嬉しそうにしていました。

The unstable weather continued since morning, but it finally stabilized in the evening. There’s also a slightly cool breeze. Typhoon No.7 passed by, leaving significant damage in various areas. There might be more typhoons like this later this year. While my area was spared from a direct hit, the affected regions suffered a significant blow. I’ve been undergoing eye check-ups every three months. Today, the doctor spoke to me kindly again. I’m grateful for a doctor who values conversations with patients. Kurumi was delighted as step-sister came to visit.

私にとって忘れられない父の言葉があります。父は私が運転する車の助手席で言いました。「あぁ、どうしてこんなに大きな国と戦っていたのか、勝てないわけだ。」もう 30 年前になります。ニューヨーク州にあるナイヤガラの滝を目指していた時のことです。父は戦場に行くことなく終戦になったそうですが、68 年間訪れたことがないアメリカを見ての一言でした。父は既に他界していますが、この日になると今でもこの言葉を思い出してしまいます。今日は 78 年目の終戦記念日でした。この地球上から戦争が早くなくなることを祈ります。クルミくんは今日も元気です。体調は良くなってきました。

There are unforgettable words from my father that I remember. My father said while sitting in the passenger seat of the car I was driving, ‘Ah, why did we fight against such a vast country? It was inevitable that we couldn’t win.’ It was over 30 years ago. We were heading towards Niagara Falls in the state of New York. My father never went to the battlefield, but he spoke these words upon seeing America, a country he had never visited in 68 years. My father has already passed away, but even today, on this 78th anniversary of the end of the war, I still recall these words. I pray for a swift end to wars on this planet. As for Kurumi, he’s doing well today too. His health has been improving.

世間は夏休みの週です。多くの人が出かけていて、遅い来る台風 7 号のために予定変更に追われているようです。ショッピングセンターには子供連れの家族が多く来ていました。時折降る豪雨を避けるように立体駐車場は空きを探す車で混雑していました。こんなふうに今日は通り過ぎていきました。クルミくんは人間用の整腸剤をドッグフードに混ぜて飲むようになってから調子が良いようです。しばらくこの生活を続けてみましょう。

It’s the week of summer vacation in Japan. Many people are out and about, and it seems that the schedule changes are being influenced by the slow-approaching Typhoon No. 7. The shopping center had many families with children visiting. The multi-level parking lot was crowded with cars searching for empty spaces, trying to avoid occasional heavy rainfall. That’s how today passed by. It appears that Kurumi has been doing well since starting to mix a human probiotic into his dog food and drink it. Let’s continue this lifestyle for a while.

車の充電をしている時間に畑の近くを歩いてみました。今年の天候は野菜にとって過酷な暑さです。私は野菜を作らないのでわかりませんが、畑は元気が無いように見えました。今にも雨が降りそうな雲行きです。充電を終えて家に着いたら急に雨が降り始め、しばらく車から出られませんでした。今日は天気が悪く、台風の影響でしょうか時々強い雨が降りました。クルミくんは今日も庭に出られずにつまらない様子です。今日も家の中でおもちゃ遊びをしていました。

I took a walk near the field while the car was charging. The weather this year has been extremely hot for the vegetables. I don’t grow vegetables myself, so I’m not sure, but the field seemed lackluster. The sky appeared to be on the verge of raining any moment with cloudy conditions. As I finished charging and arrived home, the rain suddenly started pouring, and I couldn’t get out of the car for a while. The weather is poor today, possibly due to the influence of a typhoon, as occasional heavy rain fell. Kurumi couldn’t go out to the garden again today and seemed bored. He spent the day playing with toys indoors.

今日も日中は 35℃を超す猛暑日となりました。本当にこの暑さは日常になりつつあります。陽射しが強ければ太陽電池が発電してくれるので安心してエアコンを使うことができます。設備投資の費用はかかりましたが、連日の猛暑の間、エアコンを使えることは助かります。今日もクルミは元気に遊んで、そして食べて、眠っています。この穏やかな週末に感謝しています。

It has been another scorching day today, with temperatures exceeding 35°C during the daytime. This intense heat is truly becoming a part of our daily lives. Thanks to the strong sunlight, solar panels generate power, allowing us to use air conditioning with peace of mind. While the cost of installing these facilities was significant, being able to use the air conditioning amidst the relentless heat is a relief. Kurumi is also lively today, playing, eating, and now sleeping. I’m grateful for this peaceful weekend.

今日はひさしぶりに歩いてみましたが、朝から気温が高くて汗をかいてしまいました。昨日まで会議室に座ったままの時間が長かったので、歩くことでリフレッシュすることができました。今日から夏休みの会社も多く、たくさんの人が移動しています。高速道路の渋滞や、空港の混雑ぶりがテレビで報じられています。私たちはクルミくんと自宅でのんびりと過ごします。

I walked for the first time in a while today, but the temperature was high since the morning, and I ended up sweating. I had been sitting in the conference room for a long time until yesterday, so I was able to refresh myself by walking. Many companies are starting their summer vacations today, and a lot of people are on the move. TV is reporting on highway congestion and airport crowding. We will spend a relaxing time at home with Kurumi.

緊張して対応した監査が終わりました。査察官からの報告を受けてこれまで行なってきた活動が有効だったことを確信しています。このような監査はしばらく無いと思います。会社のみなさんは継続した改善活動を行なっていくことになります。帰宅してからクルミくんの相手をしました。この時間が私は好きです。

The audit, which I nervously dealt with, has concluded. Upon receiving the report from the inspector, I am confident that the efforts we have undertaken so far have been effective. I believe such audits won’t occur again for a while. Everyone in the company will continue with ongoing improvement activities. After returning home, I spent time with my friend Kurumi. I really enjoy this time.

昨日は立秋、暦のうえでは秋になりました。夕方になるとヒグラシの声が聞こえるようになりました。そして台風の季節がやってきました。日本の南には 7 号があって、来週には本州に上陸する予報が出ています。災害が発生しないことを願うだけです。クルミくんは今日も少し具合が悪く、今度の週末は獣医に診てもらおうと私は妻と相談しています。

Yesterday marked Risshū, officially signaling the start of autumn on the calendar. As evening fell, the sound of cicadas began to fill the air. Additionally, the typhoon season has arrived. Typhoon Number 7 is currently located to the south of Japan, with forecasts predicting it will make landfall on Honshu next week. We can only hope for the avoidance of any disasters. As for Kurumi, his condition is still a bit under the weather today. My wife and I are considering consulting a veterinarian for him this coming weekend.
