Kurumi tends to bark and whine when he’s sleepy, and he doesn’t seem to care even when we’re having a meal. However, as soon as we put him in his carrier, he fell asleep right away. It seems like Kurumi is a bit of a lonely soul and feels more secure when he’s surrounded by something. With this, it looks like we’ll be able to enjoy our meals in peace from now on.
There is a T University campus within walking distance from my house. Starting today, I’ll be attending the second semester classes. I’ve enrolled in the citizen slot for the Tuesday third period, English translation lecture. There were three of us citizens, including myself, among the students. Today was the first session, so the focus was on how the course will proceed, but I’m looking forward to delving into the depth of translation in the future. I’ll also need to do some preparation for next week, so it’s going to get a bit busy. I’m grateful that I can learn new things with new people. When I get back home, Kurumi is taking a nap. I’ll play with him later.
I take a photo of Kurumi every day, but today it turned out to be just a picture of him sleeping. Kurumi had a fairly good day today. I worked from home, went to the dentist in the evening, so it was a bit busy. In front of the dental clinic, there is a ginkgo tree-lined street. This year, the ginkgo trees have borne plenty of fruit. I talked with the dentist about the ginkgo tree-lined street, but I learned that they are struggling more with dealing with the fallen dry leaves in early winter than the fragrance of ginkgo nuts falling on the streets. While I enjoy the sight of the beautiful ginkgo tree-lined street, it seems that the people living nearby are constantly facing challenges.
Kurumi has not been feeling well since this morning. It may be due to the sudden temperature change yesterday, but he’s been having stomach issues, so we decided to give up on long outings. We had planned to go to the airport to see off our son, but we decided to keep Kurumi at home. Even for us humans, this temperature change is quite surprising. It might have been tough for little Kurumi with his small body. It’s not severe enough to take him to the vet, but today, we decided to have him stay quietly at home. I made a round trip to the airport, and luckily, the highway was empty at the time, so I went smoothly and returned. Our son, he lives in a foreign country, we’ll have to say goodbye for a while until we can meet again next month.
Kurumi’s playtime with toys has been getting shorter. This is because as soon as he starts playing, he quickly gets tired and falls asleep. Then, he wakes up from his nap and starts playing again, and we spend our days like this. While Kurumi is awake, I can’t take my eyes off him, but I’m grateful that we can live these peaceful days. Last night, there was heavy rain again. The garden flowers seem to be delighted with the long-awaited rain, and the grass will probably grow again also.
The reservation for COVID-19 vaccine appointments has started today. This marks the seventh time for us to receive the vaccine. My wife and I have received all doses since the first one, and neither of us has been infected so far. This year, there is also a concern about the spread of influenza. We might need to return to a lifestyle of wearing masks. The weather has been unstable since the morning. In the evening, heavy rain began to fall, and there are warnings about lightning and tornadoes. Our dog, Kurumi, is having a good day again today. Although the temperature isn’t particularly high, the humidity is, so we’ve used the air conditioner to make it more comfortable for Kurumi
The autumn rain front has moved southward, and we have greeted a morning under cloudy skies. The rain we were hoping for hasn’t fallen since yesterday, but it seems that some areas are experiencing heavy storms. Rain is forecasted for late tonight. It’s been a slightly cooler day, which is a relief. Kurumi is also doing well today, full of energy. He was very affectionate today.
I’ve come to feel relieved when the morning sunlight isn’t too strong when I open the window. Today, the weather was forecasted to worsen in the afternoon, with rain expected. Before the rain started, I took care of the lawn in the garden. Despite the weak sunlight, the temperature and humidity were high, and I ended up sweating. I had planned to stop working in the garden once it started raining, but ironically, it didn’t rain until the evening. Walnut was taking a nap in the room while I was doing garden work. He must have been tired after his grooming session. I received scam messages on my smartphone. It’s surprising that such messages still come through.
I started experiencing pain in my molars, so I visited the dentist that I had been going to before. Although I had recently been going to the same dentist as my wife, I found that this dentist was still kinder and provided more careful treatment. She taught me how to use a toothbrush, dental floss, and interdental brushes properly. The cause of my current pain was also identified through X-ray imaging. I have decided to continue visiting this dentist. As for Kurumi, he can’t help but get fussy when he gets sleepy. Today, he fussed for a while before finally starting to sleep on the bed. He usually burrows into the bed when the temperature drops, but today, despite the lingering heat, the room temperature was a bit high. As a result, Kurumi initially burrowed into the bed but quickly came out.
Today is a national holiday, Respect for the aged person. On the front page of the morning newspaper, there are statistics about the elderly. One in every ten Japanese citizens is now over 80 years old, and approximately one in three is a senior citizen aged 65 or older, making it an aging society. We joined the ranks of the elderly four years ago. In such a society, we want to emphasize the importance of self-reliance rather than solely relying on the younger generation. I tried making a feeding platform for Kurumi. He drinks water from a dish on the floor, but it seems he has trouble swallowing, so we feed him from a slightly elevated dish. This time, I added an angle and made it so the top can be removed for cleaning. I hope he likes it.
