お昼を食べに妻と外に出てきました。初夏のような気温で、風が強い日でした。街の中華店でお昼を食べた後、少し街を歩いてみました。クルミくんは私たちが帰宅すると怒ったように吠えていました。最近はクルミくんと一緒にいる時間が長いのでひとりぼっちになると寂しくて仕方ないのかもしれません。

昨日の日曜日は建国記念日でした。今日は祝日の振り替え休日の月曜日でした。連休の週末でしたが、私たちは自宅でのんびりと過ごしています。夕方から火を入れた薪ストーブは今日も大活躍です。妻は金柑の甘露煮を作り、私は定番の焼き芋です。トップが高熱になるのでこのような使い方ができて便利です。そして、夜は沸いたお湯を湯たんぽに入れて温かく休むことができます。クルミくんは今日も日向ぼっこをしていました。太陽の温かさに感謝です。

最近はユーチューブを使って物事を調べることが多くなりました。動画なので目と耳から情報を理解することができてとても便利です。今日は私と同じ薪ストーブを使っている人の動画を見て、焚き付けの状態を確認していました。私のやり方と違っています。今日は彼のやり方でやってみたら煙が出ずに上手く温度を上げられました。火を点けてから 20 分程度で 200 ℃まで一気に温度を上げるのがコツのようです。クルミくんは今日も暖かいリビングでのんびりと過ごしていました。

今日も朝から暖かい陽射しが降り注ぐ穏やかな日となりました。日本は来週月曜が祝日なので 3 連休の週末となります。気温が少しずつ上がってきているので、そろそろ梅の花が見られるかも知れません。クルミくんは食事の後はおもちゃと遊びたがります。玩具箱から自分で出せないので困ったような顔で見つめられます。でも、すぐに飽きてしまいます。そして疲れて昼寝です。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。

今月 4 日に冷蔵庫を新しくしました。冷蔵庫の消費電力を測定していますが、新しい冷蔵庫は確かに半分くらいの消費電力になっています。庫内の容積は同じです。省電力で冷蔵できる技術は素晴らしいものだと思います。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。一人になると寂しくなってしまうのか私たちのそばにきて甘えています。

妻と一緒に S さんのお宅に見舞ってきました。癌を患ってしまった S さんは自宅で療養することになって帰ってきていました。すっかり痩せてしまって辛そうでしたが、話をする時間が持てたことに感謝しています。S さんのことを思うと胸が苦しくなります。お宅にはアンジュちゃんというパグ犬がいます。クルミくんの匂いがするのか私の近くで匂いを嗅いでいました。帰宅したらクルミくんが私の匂いを嗅いでいました。犬は嗅覚が鋭いです。

深夜に止んだ雪は 20 cm 積もっていました。ポーチまでのアプローチと歩道の雪かきをしたら汗をかいてしまいました。水を多く含んだ雪はとても重たく、雪かきは重労働でした。寒い日でしたから朝から薪ストーブに火を入れて温まっています。明日は天気が回復するようです。クルミくんは私たちがずっと側にいたので安心して過ごしていました。
