今日は息子夫婦を空港まで送りにクルミくんも一緒にでかけました。いつも来ている商業施設で食事と買い物を楽しむのですが、その間、クルミくんはペットショップで一眠りです。息子たちは来た時よりも多い荷物を持って旅立ちました。また次の機会までお別れです。帰宅すると家の中は冷え切っています。昨日からストーブを使って暖房しています。今週は薪ストーブを使う日がありそうです。

Today we took Kurumi also to the airport to drop off my son and his wife. We enjoyed dining and shopping at a commercial facility where we usually stop on the way, while Kurumi took a nap at a pet shop. Our sons left with more luggage than when they arrived. We said goodbye until the next time. When we came home back, it was cold inside the house. We have been heating the house with a stove since yesterday. It looks like there will be a day this week when we will use the wood stove.

息子たちが来日してから 2 週間が経ちました。この休暇中、彼らは多くの場所を訪れ、日本での食事を堪能したようです。時間は過ぎてしまうととても早く感じるものです。明日の便でシンガポールに帰る彼らを空港まで見送りにいきます。こうして今回も一緒に楽しい時間が持てたことに感謝しています。そしてまた、会える日を楽しみにしています。クルミくんも彼らが帰ってしまうことに寂しさを感じることでしょう。今日もたくさんの時間を息子たちと過ごすことができました。

It has been two weeks since my sons arrived in Japan. During this vacation, they have visited many places and enjoyed the food in Japan. Time flies when it passed. We will go to the airport for them to leave back to Singapore tomorrow. I am grateful that we had such a good time together again. I look forward to seeing them again. I am sure Kurumi will be sad to see them go. He was able to spend a lot of time with my sons today.

昨夜は久しぶりに鰻を頂きました。鰻の白焼は初めてでした。鰻は食べると精力がつくことから夏に食べることで知られていますが、これから寒くなる時期に脂がのって最もうまくなるようです。お店は空いていて、のんびりとおしゃべりをして鰻を味合うことができました。感謝です。クルミくんはベッドをたくさん持っています。ついこの前与えたバスケットはもう飽きてしまったようです。少し涼しくなったためかも知れません。今日は厚手のベッドに潜っている時間が多いクルミくんでした。

Last night we had grilled eel for the first time in a long time. It was my first time to eat grilled eel called Shira-Yaki”. Eel is known to be eaten in summer because it gives energy, but it seems to be at its best in the cold season when it gets fatty. The restaurant was not so busy, so we could enjoy the taste of eel while chatting leisurely. I appreciated this opportunity. Kurumi has many beds. It seems that he is already tired of the basket we gave him just a few months ago. It may be because the weather has become a little cooler. Today, Kurumi spent most of his time in the thick bed.

今日も息子たちの旅先から素敵な写真が送られてきました。合掌造りが見られる風景は彼らにとっても新鮮なことと思います。息子たちも今日は天気に恵まれているようで安心です。これまで暖かかった陽気も終わりに近づいているようで、今夜は気温が下がってきました。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしています。今日、私はクルミくんと遊ぶ時間を取ることができませんでした。

Today, I received another wonderful photo from my sons’ trip at the heritage place. I think the scenery of Gassho-zukuri traditional Japan’s house is new to them. I am relieved to see that my sons are also enjoying the good weather today. The warm weather seems to be coming to an end and the temperature is dropping tonight. Kurumi is doing well today. I was not able to take time to play with Kurumi however.

クルミくんはおとなしく目薬を受け入れています。昨日から処方していますが、クルミくんが目を痒がらなくなったようです。これで良くなってくれることを願います。今日も日中は夏のように暑い一日でした。午後は大学で講義を受けてきました。教室を出てみると爽やかな青空と鮮やかな木々の色が迎えてくれました。今日も単語のテストでは満点は取れませんでした。簡単なミスがあり、これからも勉強を続けていつかは満点を取れるようになりたいものです。

Kurumi is quietly accepting the eye drops. He has been prescribing these since yesterday, and it seems that Kurumi has stopped itching his eyes. I hope this will help him get better. Today was another hot day like summer during the day. I had a lecture at the university in the afternoon. When I left the classroom, I was greeted by a fresh blue sky and bright colors of trees. I did not get a perfect score on my vocabulary test today either. There were some simple mistakes and I hope to continue studying and one day get a perfect score.

クルミくんは毎月の検診で獣医に診てもらいました。最近、目を気にしているので心配していました。少し腫れている部位があるようで、目薬を処方してもらいました。動物病院の前にある銀杏並木は紅葉が進んでいて綺麗です。そして、旅行をしている息子夫婦から素敵な写真が送られてきました。世界遺産を訪れている二人はきっと素敵な時間を過ごしていることでしょう。私は書斎で使ってきた大きな椅子を小さなスツールに変更しました。長い時間座る機会もなくなってきて、健康にも良いかと思っています。

Kurumi was seen by the vet for his monthly checkup. We were concerned about his eyes as he have been bothering them lately. He seemed to have a slightly swollen area and was prescribed eye drops. The gingko trees in front of the veterinary clinic are beautiful with their autumn leaves. And I received a nice photo from my son and his wife they are traveling. I am sure they are having a wonderful time visiting a world heritage site. I have replaced the large chair I have been using in my office with a small stool. I no longer have the opportunity to sit for long periods of time and I think it will be good for my health.

先週間単語の勉強を休んでしまったので今日はこれまでの復習に追われています。5 日分の教材を聞きながら文章を書き写して、知らない単語については何回も書いて、口に出して読んで、そしてその和訳も書いて覚えようとしています。最近は 1 つの単語を覚えるといくつかのことを忘れるのではないかと不安になってしまいます。教材の中には興味深い記事もあって勉強になります。今度の単語テストでは何点取れるでしょうか？クルミくんは今日も元気です。息子夫婦は今朝から北陸の旅に出ていったので、少し寂しくなりました。

I have been busy reviewing the vocabulary I missed last week, listening to 5 days worth of material, transcribing sentences, and trying to remember unfamiliar words by writing them down, reading them out loud, and writing the Japanese translations for them. Lately I am afraid that if I learn one word, I will forget several things. Some of the articles in the material are interesting and informative. How many points will I get in the next vocabulary test? Kurumi is doing well today. My son and his wife left this morning for a trip to Hokuriku, so we missed them today.

昨日修理した水栓の部品は、今日また壊れてしまいました。水栓本体を交換するか、この際、洗面台を入れ替えるか、妻と相談しています。長く使ってきたものが壊れるのは仕方ないことなのですが、残念です。ストーブ屋さんからの電話で薪の配達が今日になりました。今年はストーブの心配がいらないくらい暖かいのですっかり忘れていました。今年は 2 立米を購入、薪棚に収めることができました。昨年は今頃から薪ストーブを使い始めていたのですが、今年はまだ先になりそうです。クルミくんは今日も息子夫婦が相手をしてくれて幸せそうでした。

The part of the faucet that was repaired yesterday broke again today. My wife and I are discussing whether to replace the faucet itself or replace the vanity at this time. It is unfortunate that something that has been used for a long time has to break. The stove store called and the firewood delivery is today reminded me. It has been so warm this year that I have not needed to worry about the stove, so I had completely forgotten about it. This year I purchased 2 cubic meters and was able to fit it in the firewood rack. Last year we started using the wood stove around this time, but this year it will be a while yet. Kurumi was happy to have the company of my son and his wife today, too.

11 月になったというのに、今日は真夏日のような暑い一日でした。洗面所の混合栓から水が漏れてくるようになったので分解して修理しました。樹脂製の部品が割れていたのが原因です。この部品をネットで探したのですが見つかりません。接着剤で応急修理したのですが、再発するようなら水栓本体の交換が必要になります。クルミくんもこの暑さに驚いているようです。今日も元気に遊んでいます。

Even though it was November, today was a hot day like a midsummer day. Water started leaking from the mixer faucet in the bathroom, so I disassembled it and repaired it. The cause was that a plastic part was broken. I looked for this part on the Internet but could not find it. I repaired it with adhesive, but if it recurs, the faucet itself will need to be replaced. Kurumi seems to be surprised at the heat. He is playing energetically today.
