この数ヶ月、月末近くになると献血の依頼がきます。今日もその要請に従って献血ルームを訪れました。きっと同じ患者さんが私の血小板を必要としていることでしょう。献血は 70 歳の誕生日が年齢制限となっているので、私は残すところ 6 ヶ月となりました。その期間に何回要請がくるか分かりませんが、協力し続けたいと思います。献血を終えてイルミネーションを見てから帰宅しました。クルミくんは今日も元気にしていたようです。週末はクルミくんとの時間を多く持てるようにします。

For the past several months, near the end of each month, I receive requests to donate blood. Today I visited the blood donation room again to comply with the request. I am sure that the same patient needs my platelets. The age limit for donating blood is the 70th birthday, so I have only 6 months left. I don’t know how many times I will be asked to donate during that period, but I will continue to cooperate. After donating blood, I went home after seeing the illumination. Kurumi seemed to be doing well today. I will try to spend more time with Kurumi over the weekend.

今日も気温が低く寒い一日でした。それでも私が住む地域は昼間の陽射しに恵まれるので助かっています。北国では寒波と大雪の季節が到来したことを情報番組や紙面が報じています。先週末に富山に行きましたが、一週間で天気は大きく変わってしまいました。雪国の方々の苦労が偲ばれます。クルミくんは今日も陽射しが入るリビングで昼寝をしています。昨日のトリミング後から少しずつですが、右足を床に付けて歩けるようになってきました。一喜一憂する毎日を妻と過ごしています。

Today was another cold day with low temperatures. Still, I am blessed with daytime sunshine in the area where I live. TV programs and newspapers are reporting that the cold wave and heavy snow season has arrived in northern Japan. I went to Toyama last weekend and the weather changed drastically in just one week. I remember the hardships of people in snowy areas. Today, Kurumi is napping in the living room where the sun is shining. Since yesterday’s trimming, he has been able to walk with his right foot on the floor. My wife and I spend every day feeling happy and sad.

クルミくんはトリミングの日でした。先月、トリマーさんがクルミくんの異変に気づいてくれたのでヘルニアの手術を受けました。まだ右足が不自由なのですが、トリマーさんに感謝です。今日は妻がクルミくんを介助してトリミングしてもらいました。妻がそばにいたのでいつもよりもおとなしくしていたようです。さっぱりして気持ち良くなったのか帰宅してからはよく眠っていました。

It was a trimming day for Kurumi. Last month, the trimmer noticed something wrong with Kurumi, so he underwent surgery for a hernia. He still has a limp in his right leg, but we are grateful to the trimmer. Today, my wife assisted Kurumi to get trimmed. He seemed to be more docile than usual because my wife was by his side. He was refreshed and felt good, and slept well after returning home.

先週で大学の授業が終わったので少し暇な火曜日でした。大学の講義では毎週、単語テストがあったので毎日、新しい単語を書き出して勉強していました。今週は少しサボってしまいましたが、勉強は続けています。一日 20 分程度のニュース番組から知らない単語を選んで覚えるようにしています。クルミくんは徐々に右足を使って歩くようになってきています。それでも滑りやすい床の上は右足を使いません。きっと滑って怖いのでしょう。今日も寒い一日でした。

It was a Tuesday when I had a little free time because my university classes ended last week. I had a vocabulary test every week in my university lectures, so every day I would write down new words and study them. This week I slacked off a bit, but I am continuing to study. I try to memorize unfamiliar words from news programs about 20 minutes a day. Kurumi is gradually learning to walk with his right leg. Even so, he does not use his right foot on slippery floors. He is probably afraid of slipping. It was another cold day.

昨日まで暖かかったのですが、今日は一転して寒気に覆われています。この先は厳しい寒さの日が続くようです。太陽の陽が窓から差し込めば暖かさを感じることはできますが、今日は早くから薪ストーブで部屋を温めることにしました。近くの家に薪ストーブの煙突が設置されていました。少し前までは無かったので最近取り付けたのでしょう。家中を暖かくしてくれる薪ストーブは便利です。クルミくんは処方食を変えてから食欲が旺盛になったのか、最近、体重が増えてきました。

It was warm yesterday, but today it has taken a turn for the worse and is now covered in cold air. It looks like severe cold weather will continue for the days. Although we can feel the warmth if the sun shines through the window, I decided to warm up the room with a wood stove early today. A wood stove chimney was installed in a nearby house. It must have been installed recently, as it was not there until a while ago. The wood stove is very convenient to warm up the whole house. Kurumi’s appetite has become more vigorous since he changed his prescription diet, and he has been gaining weight recently.

兄と二人で富山まで日帰りで行ってきました。母の実家にいらっしゃる親戚の方々と久しぶりにお会いしてきました。皆さんもお元気そうでしたが、流石に年の流れを感じさせます。過疎化も進むなかで今後の商売を考える身近な親戚の声を聞いて、兄と私は軽率な提案はできずに難しさを知らされました。暖冬故に商売が思うようにいかない現実も知らせています。皆さんの事を思って帰宅の途につきました。クルミくんは帰宅したら既に眠っていました。

My brother and I took a day trip to Toyama. We met with relatives at my mother’s family home for the first time in a very long time. Everyone seemed to be in good health, but I could feel the passing of the years. Hearing the voices of the relatives close to us thinking about future business amidst the depopulation, my brother and I were informed of the difficulty, not being able to make any rash suggestions. We have also been informed of the reality that business is not going as smoothly as we would like due to the warm winter. I thought all of them as I headed home. Kurumi was already sleeping when I got home.

クルミくんは今日も元気です。お腹を空かせてしまうのが早いようです。今朝は 5 時から起き出して食べ物をせがんでいました。食欲があることは良いことだと思います。右足は少しずつですが、踏ん張れるようになってきています。ソファーから飛び降りることもできるので、痛みはないようです。

Kurumi is doing well today. He seems to get hungry very quickly. This morning, he woke up at 5:00 a.m. and was begging for food. I think it is good that he has an appetite. He is able to stand on his right leg little by little. He can even jump off the sofa, so there seems to be no pain.

この銀杏並木は 10 年前に初めて訪れた時から変わっていません。今朝は久しぶりにこの道を歩いて会社まで行きました。仕事を終えて駅まで帰る時はイチョウの落ち葉で遊ぶ子供たちを見ることができました。この先もこの銀杏並木は四季を楽しませてくれることでしょう。クルミくんは私が帰宅すると熟睡中でした。今日も忘年会で遅くに帰宅しました。

This row of gingko trees has not changed since my first visit 10 years ago. This morning I walked along this path to work for the first time in a while. When I walked back to the station after work, I could see children playing with the fallen leaves of the gingko trees. I am sure that this row of gingko trees will continue to delight us with its four seasons. Kurumi was sound asleep when I came home. I came home late from a year-end party today.

この仲間が集まったのは 4 年ぶりでした。コロナウィルスの感染が始まろうとしていた冬に会って以来となります。8 人で忘年会を持つことができました。聞けば闘病で苦労した仲間もいて、時間の経過の速さに驚きます。一人は遠い地にいるので来ることができませんでした。来年もまた会えることを願って別れました。今夜は帰宅途中にラーメンを食べてきました。寒くなった夜、熱いスープに身体を温められました。クルミくんは今日も元気にしています。早朝から起きたので私は寝不足の一日でした。

It had been four years since this group had met. It was the first time since the winter when the coronavirus infection was about to start. 8 of us were able to have a year-end party. I was surprised at how quickly the time passed. One of them was unable to come to the party because he was in a distant place. We parted, hoping to see each other again next year. Tonight I had ramen noodle on my way home. The hot soup warmed me up on a cold night. Kurumi is doing well today. I had a sleepless day because I got up early in the morning with Kurumi.

信号機の電球が LED に変わって何年が経つか忘れてしまいましたが、良く見ると光っていない LED が目立つようになってきました。複数の小さな LED が集まっています。今後、これらの交換作業が始まることでしょう。今夜は今年 1 回目の忘年会でした。鮨屋の小上がりで時を忘れて会話が弾みました。帰宅途中、屋台のラーメンに誘われそうになりましたが、我慢して帰宅、風呂で身体を温めることにしました。クルミくんは今日も相変わらず元気です。すこしずつおもちゃで遊ぶことを始めました。

I forget how long it has been since traffic light bulbs were replaced by LEDs, but if I look closely, I can see some LEDs that are not glowing. There are several small LEDs clustered together. It will probably start replacing them in the future. Tonight was the first year-end party for this year. We had a great conversation at a small sushi restaurant, forgetting about the time. On the way home, I was almost tempted to try ramen from a street vendor, but I decided to resist and go home to warm myself in the bath. Kurumi is as energetic as ever today. He has started to play with his toys a little more.
