私は今日まで仕事をしました。文書の承認プロセスを実行するワークフローを Share Point で作りました。Power Automate というアプリケーションを使うのは初めてでしたから少し手こずりました。IT Tool が整備されていますが、会社ではなかなか活用が進みません。このプログラムを活用してくれることを願っています。クルミくんは徐々に右足を床につけて歩くようになりました。以前のように早く走ることができませんが、痛みはないようなので安心しています。今夜は妻と外食に行くことにしました。忘年会です。

I have been working until today, creating a workflow in Share Point to run the document approval process. That was a bit tricky since it was my first time using the Power Automate application. I hope the team of company will make use of this program. Kurumi is gradually walking with his right foot on the floor. He cannot run as fast as he used to, but I am relieved that he does not seem to be in pain. Tonight, my wife and I decided to go out for dinner. It is a year-end party.

最初のワンこの名前はチャオというメス犬のヨークシャテリアでした。チャオは家で 2 頭の子犬を産みました。両方ともオスで、ラッキーとクッキーと名付けました。3 頭も育てられないので、ラッキーは愛される人の元に出て行きました。クッキーは私たちと一緒にアメリカで過ごす経験をしました。チャオとクッキーとお別れしてからしばらくはワンこがいない生活をしていましたが、プリンと会い、家に来てもらうことにしました。そしてまたクルミとも出会い、2 頭が家にいる生活に戻りました。これまでチャオ、クッキー、プリンみんな 13 歳の誕生日を迎えることなく別れてきました。今日、クルミくんは 14 歳になりました。一番長生きのワンこです。クルミくんとこの先も、楽しく過ごしていきます。

The first dog was a female Yorkshire Terrier named Chao. Chao had two puppies at home, both males, and we named them Lucky and Cookie. Cookie had the experience of spending time in the U.S. with us. After we said goodbye to Chao and Cookie, we lived without our dogs for a while, but then we met Purin and decided to have him come to our house. Then we met Kurumi also and returned to a life with two dogs in our home. So far, Chao, Cookie, and Purin all parted without celebrating their 13th birthday. Today, Kurumi turns 14 years old. He is the longest-lived dog in our life. We will continue to enjoy spending time with Kurumi.

クルミくんは右足に強い力を入れることができません。フローリングの床を歩く時に滑ってしまう時があるので、滑り止めになるワックスを塗ってみました。すこしずつですが、クルミくんは右足を使うようになってきています。今日も昼間は晴れて少し暖かい一日でした。外回りを掃除してから、無病息災を祈って門松を飾りました。

Kurumi cannot put strong pressure on his right leg. He sometimes slips when he walks on the wooden floor, so I applied non-slip wax to the floor. Little by little, Kurumi is starting to use his right leg. It was sunny and a little warm during the daytime today. After cleaning the outside area, I decorated the Kadomatsu, wishing for good health.

契約先の会社は今日で仕事納め、明日から年末年始の休業期間となります。年始は 1 月 5 日からなので、8 連休となります。私はその間、少し業務を行う必要がありますが、自宅でできることなのでクルミくんとの時間は多く作れそうです。クルミくんは帰宅すると起きて出迎えてくれました。昨日よりも少し気温が高いのですが、これから冷えてくるので、今日も薪ストーブに火を入れることにしました。

Today is the last day of work for the company with which I have a contract, and from tomorrow the company will be closed for the year-end and New Year holidays. The new year starts on January 5, so there will be eight consecutive holidays. I will need to do a little work during this time, but I will be able to spend a lot of time with Kurumi since I can do it from home. Kurumi woke up and greeted me when I came home. The temperature is a little warmer than yesterday, but it is going to get colder, so I decided to fire up the wood stove again today.

クリスマスに合わせてアメリカに住む友人からカードが送られてきました。私がニューヨークの北部にある研究所に半年間勤めた時に知り合ったご夫妻です。当時は研究所の近くで日本食レストランを経営されていて、大変お世話になりました。それは今から 43 年前のことです。アメリカに出張する機会があれば会うようにしていましたが、ニューヨークからテネシーに越されてからは訪れる機会もありません。年に 1 度の便りになってしまいましたが、お互いが元気でいることを知る良い機会になっています。クルミくんは今日も日向ぼっこをしながら昼寝をしていました。

I received a card from a friend they live in the US just in time for Christmas. He and his wife I met when I worked for six months at an institute in upstate New York. At that time, they were running a Japanese restaurant near the institute, and they were very kind to me. That was 43 years ago. I used to try to see them whenever I had a chance to make a business trip to the U.S., but I have not had a chance to visit them since they moved from New York to Tennessee. Although we only have a letter once a year, it is a good opportunity for us to let each other know that we are both doing well. Kurumi was napping in the sun today.

洗面化粧台の水栓から水漏れする故障があり、一度は応急修理をしたのですが、再発してしまいました。23 年間使ってきたもので、水栓だけの交換は難しいとのことで、全体を入れ替えることにしました。今度は手を近づけると水が出るタイプです。便利になりました。カウンタートップは落ち着く色にしてみました。工事に来た若者は 23 歳、洗面台と同じ年齢だと笑っていました。工事の間、音が大きい時もありましたが、クルミくんは耳が聞こえないのでずっと眠っていました。

I had a problem with a faucet leaking from a washbasin, which I repaired once, but it came back. 23 years of use, it was difficult to replace just the faucet, so I decided to replace the entire unit. This new one, the water comes out when I put my hand near the faucet. It is now more convenient. The counter top is a soothing color. The young man who came to do the work was 23 years old, the same age as the washbasin, that he laughed. During the construction, there were times when the noise was loud, but Kurumi is deaf, so he was asleep the whole time.

昼間は妻が外出していたので私はクルミくんとの時間を長く持つことができました。手術の後から右足が不自由なのでおもちゃと遊ぶことがなくなりました。一緒にいてもほとんどベッドで眠っています。クルミくんの食欲は旺盛なので安心です。今日も寒い一日でした。夕方から薪ストーブを使って家中を温めています。薪ストーブは火の点け始めに神経を使います。うまく煙突のドラフト効果を得られれば、しめたものです。後は火の勢いが増していきます。今日も上手にできました。

My wife was out during the day so I was able to spend longer time with Kurumi. Since his surgery, he has not been able to play with his toys because of his right leg limitation. Even when I am with him, he is mostly sleeping in his bed. I am relieved that Kurumi has a good appetite. It was another cold day. I have been using the wood stove to warm up the house since the evening. It takes a lot of nerve to start a fire with a wood stove. If I can get a good draft effect from the chimney, I’ve got it. After that, the fire gains momentum. Today, too, it was done well.

今朝は庭に置いてあるバードバスの水が凍っていました。昨夜から明け方にかけて零下まで気温が低下したようです。昼間は陽射しがあって暖かいのですが、夕方から陽が陰ると急に寒くなってきました。来週は少し気温が上がるようです。昼間、暖かいうちに焚き付け用の薪を準備しました。クルミくんは 14 歳の誕生日を来週に控えて今日も元気です。

The water in the birdbath in the garden was frozen this morning. It seems that the temperature dropped below zero from last night to dawn. It was warm during the daytime because of the sunshine, but it suddenly became cold in the evening when the sun went down. The temperature is expected to rise a little next week. During the daytime, while it was still warm, I prepared firewood for the fire starter. Kurumi is in high spirits as he prepares to celebrate his 14th birthday next week.

この数ヶ月、月末近くになると献血の依頼がきます。今日もその要請に従って献血ルームを訪れました。きっと同じ患者さんが私の血小板を必要としていることでしょう。献血は 70 歳の誕生日が年齢制限となっているので、私は残すところ 6 ヶ月となりました。その期間に何回要請がくるか分かりませんが、協力し続けたいと思います。献血を終えてイルミネーションを見てから帰宅しました。クルミくんは今日も元気にしていたようです。週末はクルミくんとの時間を多く持てるようにします。

For the past several months, near the end of each month, I receive requests to donate blood. Today I visited the blood donation room again to comply with the request. I am sure that the same patient needs my platelets. The age limit for donating blood is the 70th birthday, so I have only 6 months left. I don’t know how many times I will be asked to donate during that period, but I will continue to cooperate. After donating blood, I went home after seeing the illumination. Kurumi seemed to be doing well today. I will try to spend more time with Kurumi over the weekend.

今日も気温が低く寒い一日でした。それでも私が住む地域は昼間の陽射しに恵まれるので助かっています。北国では寒波と大雪の季節が到来したことを情報番組や紙面が報じています。先週末に富山に行きましたが、一週間で天気は大きく変わってしまいました。雪国の方々の苦労が偲ばれます。クルミくんは今日も陽射しが入るリビングで昼寝をしています。昨日のトリミング後から少しずつですが、右足を床に付けて歩けるようになってきました。一喜一憂する毎日を妻と過ごしています。

Today was another cold day with low temperatures. Still, I am blessed with daytime sunshine in the area where I live. TV programs and newspapers are reporting that the cold wave and heavy snow season has arrived in northern Japan. I went to Toyama last weekend and the weather changed drastically in just one week. I remember the hardships of people in snowy areas. Today, Kurumi is napping in the living room where the sun is shining. Since yesterday’s trimming, he has been able to walk with his right foot on the floor. My wife and I spend every day feeling happy and sad.
