妻が愛用している DVD プレーヤーが壊れてしまいました。ダビングができなくなって困っていたので、中古の部品をネット販売で購入して交換してみました。無事にダビングができるようになって喜んでいます。中古品ですが、当面は使えるようで安心しました。クルミくんは少しずつ右足を使うようになってきました。昨日、獣医に刺激を受けたのが効いているのかもしれません。

My wife’s favorite DVD player broke. She was having trouble dubbing, so I bought a used part from an online seller and replaced it. I am happy to say that she is now able to dub safely. Although it is a used part, I am relieved that it seems to be usable for the time being. Kurumi has gradually started to use his right leg. Perhaps the stimulation he received from the veterinarian yesterday is helping.

今日、クルミくんは定期検診を受けに獣医に診てもらう日でした。待合室で待っている間、診察室のドアが開くのを見つめていました。クルミくんが獣医に呼ばれると吠えて応えていました。右足の原因は坐骨神経にあるようです。ヘルニアの手術で挿入したネットの一部が神経に近いことが考えられるようです。この先、少し長く必要かも知れませんが、徐々に、脳からの神経が右足の先端まで通じていくことを願います。今日は成人の日で祝日でした。朝夕はとても寒い日でした。

Today was Kurumi’s day to see the vet for a routine checkup. While waiting in the waiting room, he stared at the door to the examination room as it opened. When the vet called Kurumi, he responded by barking. The cause of his right leg seemed to be the sciatic nerve. It seems likely that part of the net inserted during hernia surgery is close to the nerve. It may take a little longer, but we hope that gradually, the nerve from the brain will be routed to the tip of the right leg. Today was Adult’s Day, a national holiday. The morning and evening were very cold.

今日、1月7日は七草粥を食べる日と言われています。青菜の摂取が不足しがちなこの時期に、しっかりと体に取り入れるためでもあり、さらに、お正月のごちそうで疲れた胃腸をいたわるためという説もあるそうです。私たちはいつもと変わらない朝食をいただきました。午前中は天気が良かったのですが、午後からは曇天となり気温も下がってきました。クルミくんは昨日の来客で少し疲れたのか朝遅くまで眠っていました。

私は今も新聞を購読しています。新聞屋から契約更新の依頼が来たのですが、この機会に購読を止めようかと思い始めました。誌面からの情報も良いのですが、今は他のメディアを通じて様々な情報を知ることができます。昨年新聞料金も値上がりしました。新聞屋の経営も大変だとは思いますが、今、悩んでいます。今日の誌面には PTSD のことが書かれていました。地震や航空機の事故を聞いて心を痛めている人が多いことでしょう。人と会話をして、思いを話すことも良い解決策だと書かれていました。今日はこれからテニススクールで知り合った友人を家に招いて新年会を行います。ホームパーティーをやるのは久しぶりです。クルミくんは私たちが近くにいると安心なので、みなさんに来ていただくことにしました。

I still subscribe to a newspaper. I received a request from the newspaper store to renew my subscription, and I started to think that this is a good time to stop subscribing. Information from the paper is good, but now I can get a variety of information through other media. Newspaper prices also increased last year. I know it is hard to run a newspaper business, but I am having a hard time now. Today’s paper mentioned PTSD. I am sure many people are heartbroken to hear about the earthquake and the plane crash. It said that having a conversation with people and talking about our thoughts and feelings is a good solution. Today we are going to have a New Year’s party at my house with friends wife and I met at tennis school. It has been a long time since we have had a home party. Kurumi feels safe with us nearby, so we decided to invite everyone to come.

アメリカに住む友人から私たちを危惧するメッセージが届きました。1日に発生した地震と2日に起きた航空機事故は海外でも大きく報じられているようです。心配してくれることに感謝し、私たちは無事なことを報告しました。情報番組でもこれらのことが連日話題となっています。一刻も早く日常に戻ることを願うしかできません。クルミくんは今日も暖かい部屋でのんびりと過ごしていました。今日は少し小さめのベッドを使っています。その日その日で違うベッドが使えるクルミくんは幸せです。

I received a message from a friend living in the U.S. she is concerned about us; the earthquake that occurred on the 1st and the plane crash on the 2nd seem to have been widely reported abroad. 毎年、送られてくる年賀状を楽しみにしています。年に一度の連絡となった人も多いのですが、近況を伝え合えることを大切にしています。住所が変わっている人もいます。今年で年賀状を終える人もいます。私は継続して年賀状を送ろうと思います。今日は仕事始めになります。パソコンを開いて短時間、業務をしました。クルミくんは陽が暖かい部屋でよく眠っていました。天気が良い日は夕方になっても部屋の中は温まっているので助かります。

元旦に発生した能登地方の地震では死者が多く出てしまいました。余震が続いていて不安な日々を送られているようです。夕方だったことと、暖房も使っていたためか多くの家が火災に見舞われてしまいました。数週間前に訪れた富山の家も塀が倒れるなどの被害が出ているようです。どうしても「こちらで出来ることがあれば」と言ってしまうのですが、手助けにいくこともできず、ただただ心配していることしかできません。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んでいます。しかし、眠っている時間が長くなりました。

昨年は妻が怪我で来れなかった寺院に、今日は夫婦で初詣に来ることができました。小雨が降る寒い日だったためか人出は少ないお参りとなりました。今年も家族が健康で幸せに過ごせることを願っています。家に帰るとクルミくんは吠えていました。彼は一人で長い時間待てなくなってしまったようです。

Today we were able to come to the temple for Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) as both of us, as my wife was injured last year and could not come. It was a cold day with light rain, so there were not many people visiting the temple. I hope the family will stay healthy and happy this year. When we returned home, Kurumi was barking. It seems he can no longer wait alone for a long time.

早起きのクルミくんと一緒に起きてからは彼の面倒を見ているので外に出ることができません。今朝は初日の出をテレビで見ることにしました。とても良い天気に恵まれて多くの場所で綺麗な初日の出が見ることができたようです。いつもは辛くなる報道を行っているテレビも、今日は正月の楽しい話題で満載です。笑って正月を迎えられることは幸せですが、世界では戦争に苦しみ続けている人のことを思うと心が痛みます。クルミくんは今日も暖かい部屋でのんびりと過ごしていました。

After waking up with Kurumi, an early riser, I have been taking care of him and have not been able to go outside. This morning I decided to watch the first sunrise on TV. The weather was very nice and many places were able to see a beautiful first sunrise. The TV, which usually gives us painful news reports, is full of fun topics for New Year’s today. I am happy to be able to greet the New Year with laughter, but my heart aches when I think of the people in the world who continue to suffer from wars. Kurumi was relaxing in his warm room today.

午後、知り合いのご夫婦が遊びに来てくれました。レストランのオーナーシェフをされているご主人は最近目の病に罹患されて困っています。MR 検査をしても原因が分かっていないので心配しています。今日まで多忙な生活をされていたので正月はゆっくりと静養するようです。病気をするとその原因がわからないと治療もできないので困ります。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。右足を使って歩いているクルミくんを見て奥様も安心されていました。大晦日のひと時、楽しい会話で過ごすことができました。

In the afternoon, a couple our friends came to visit us. The husband, who is a chef and owner of a restaurant, has recently been suffering from an eye disease and is worried because the cause of the disease is not known even after MR diagnose. He has been leading a very busy life until today, so he is going to take it easy during the New Year’s holiday. It is a problem when a person gets sick because it is impossible to treat the disease unless the cause is known. Kurumi is doing well today. The wife was relieved to see Kurumi walking with his right leg. We were able to spend a pleasant conversation on New Year’s Eve.
