昨日から台風 9 号と 10 号の動きが報告されるようになりました。9 号はしばらくフィリピン近海で迷走するようです。そして 10 号は早い速度で日本に近づいてきます。この 10 号は大型化することはなく、被害もないだろうと言われています。朝夕は少し涼しくなってきましたが、台風のシーズンが到来しました。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしています。彼は朝起きて私がベッドにいないと吠えて起きたことを知らせます。近くには妻がいるのですが、どうしてか私がいないと寂しいようです。

Meanwhile, Typhoon No. 10 is rapidly approaching Japan. It is said that Typhoon No. 10 will not intensify into a large one and is not expected to cause significant damage. Although the mornings and evenings have become a bit cooler, the typhoon season has arrived. Kurumi-kun is also having a good day today. He lets me know when he wakes up in the morning and I’m not in bed. Even though my wife is nearby, he seems to feel lonely when I’m not around.

今日は久しぶりに友人との会食を楽しみました。私の住む所からは少し離れていますが、天ぷらを楽しんできました。揚げたての食材をカウンターに座っていただけるのでとても美味しく楽しむことができます。帰宅するとクルミくんは既に眠っていました。

I enjoyed a meal with a friend today after a long time. It’s a bit far from where I live, but we had tempura and it was delicious. Being able to sit at the counter and enjoy freshly fried ingredients was really tasty. When I got back home, Kurumi was already asleep.

今日は妻とアフタヌーンティーを楽しんできました。近くの結婚式場に入っているレストランでこのサービスが提供されているとは知りませんでした。昼食は摂らずに行ったのですが、このメニューでお腹がいっぱいになってしまいました。食後、中庭を散策、滝の側で涼しい風を感じることができました。クルミくんは私たちが留守の間、ケージの中で待っていました。帰宅するのが分かったのか、家のドアを開けた途端に吠えていました。その後、ガソリンスタンドで車を充電、ガソリン価格が高騰しているのを見て、電気にして良かったと思いました。

I enjoyed afternoon tea with my wife today. I didn’t know that this service was offered at the restaurant inside the nearby wedding venue. We went without having lunch, but I ended up getting full with this menu. After the meal, we took a stroll in the courtyard and felt the cool breeze by the waterfall. Our dog, Kurumi, was waiting for us in his cage while we were away. As soon as he realized we were returning home, he started barking the moment we opened the front door. Later, I charged the car at the gas station. Seeing the gasoline prices soaring, I thought it was a good decision to go electric.

とても不安定な天気の一日でした。午前中は時折激しい雨が降りましたが、夕方になってからは青空が広がって風もあり、少し涼しささえも感じられます。今日、暦では処暑（しょしょ）だそうです。厳しい暑さの峠を越した頃のことで、朝夕には涼しい風が吹き、心地よい虫の声が聞こえて、暑さが和らぎ、穀物が実り始め、同時に台風の季節の到来だ。と Web を調べたら出ていました。暑さが和らぐことを期待しますが、今年はもう一ヶ月程度、この暑さが続くようです。クルミくんは朝、寝坊していましたが、今日も元気に過ごしています。

It was a very unstable weather day. In the morning, there were occasional heavy rains, but in the evening, the blue sky spread out, accompanied by a breeze, and I could even feel a bit of coolness. Today, according to the calendar, it’s ‘Shosho,’ the period marking the end of intense summer heat. It’s around the time when the harsh heat begins to subside, cool winds blow in the morning and evening, pleasant insect sounds can be heard, the heat becomes milder, grains start to ripen, and simultaneously, the season of typhoons arrives. I found this information on the web. I hope for the heat to ease, but it seems that this heat will continue for about another month this year. As for Kurumi, he overslept in the morning but is still lively and energetic today.

今朝スマホに届いたメッセージを見て驚きました。友人 Y さんの奥様が他界されたという訃報でした。私たちが米国に赴任中に一緒に時間を共にした彼らとはそれ以来、家族同士のお付き合いをしてきました。最近は年賀状の交換だけで会う機会が無かったのですが、彼女が療養中だったことを知りました。私たちよりも若い彼ら、あまりにも早いお別れとなりました。心よりお悔やみを申し上げます。クルミくんは今日も元気に私に甘えていました。

I was taken aback when I looked at the message that arrived on my smartphone this morning. It was a notice informing me that Y-san’s wife, a friend of ours, had passed away. Since the time we spent together while stationed in the United States, we had maintained a close relationship between our families. Although we hadn’t had the chance to meet in person recently, we exchanged New Year’s greetings, and I had learned that she was undergoing medical treatment. They were younger than us, and it’s such a premature farewell. My heartfelt condolences go out to them. Today, Kurumi was still lively and seeking affection from me.

甲子園で行われている高校野球大会では準決勝が行われました。日本全国から勝ち進んできた高校生が全力で戦っている姿は清々しいものです。決勝戦は明後日になります。クルミくんはトリミングの日でした。年齢のためか、シーズンのためか、毛の伸びは少しになったようです。今日も綺麗さっぱりしてもらって、帰宅後は疲れたのか昼寝をしていました。

At the high school baseball tournament being held at Koshien Stadium, the semi-finals took place today. The sight of high school students who have advanced from all over Japan, giving their all in the battles, is truly refreshing. The championship game will be held the day after tomorrow. Kurumi had his grooming appointment today. Perhaps due to his age or the season, his fur seemed to have grown a bit less. After getting cleaned up again today, he returned home and took a nap, perhaps tired from the day.

クルミくんと一緒に週末の買い物に行きました。この店はペットと同伴して買い物ができるので助かります。クルミくんは自分のバギーに乗って楽しそうに見ていました。私は庭の芝がのびてしまったので手入れをしようと思ったのですが、気温が高過ぎるので諦めました。夕方日が暮れてもまだ暑かったので、大きな雑草だけ抜くことにしました。少し気温が下がると蚊が出てます。

We went shopping today, weekend with Kurumi. This store allows pets to accompany during shopping, which is convenient. Kurumi looked happy riding in his own buggy and observing. I intended to do some yard maintenance as the grass had grown too long, but I gave up due to the excessively high temperature. Even as the evening came and the sun had set, it was still hot, so I decided to only remove the large weeds. Mosquitoes start coming out when the temperature drops a bit.

シンガポールに住む息子から素敵な写真が送られてきました。彼は最近写真撮影を興味にしていて、その興味を通じて人とのつながりもあるようです。これは素晴らしいことだと思います。同じ興味を持つ人との会話をこれからも大切にしてもらいたいものです。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。

I received a wonderful photo from my son he lives in Singapore. He has recently taken an interest in photography, and it seems that through this interest, he is also making connections with people. I think this is a fantastic development. I hope he continues to cherish conversations with people who share the same interests. As for Kurumi, he was also lively and energetic today.”

今年前期の大学講座は妻が怪我をしたので諦めましたが、後期に応募して、9 月から近くの大学講座に通うことになりました。学生に混ざって市民 5 人の枠があり、そこに入ることができました。受講の手引きが送られてきたので注意深く読んでいます。まだ 1 ヶ月先のことですが、今から楽しみです。クルミくんは今日もよく遊んで、よく寝て、そしてよく食べていました。

I gave up on the university course for the first half of this year because my wife got injured, but I applied for the second half and will be attending a nearby university course starting in September. Among the students, there were 5 spots available for local residents, and I was able to secure one of those. I have received the course guidelines and I am reading them carefully. Although it’s still a month away, I’m looking forward to it. As for Kurumi, he played a lot, slept well, and ate well today as well.

妻と二人でクルミくんのドッグフードを買いに出かけました。近くのレストランで昼食にしました。この店は搾りたてのオレンジジュースを提供しているので妻も気に入っています。しかし、今日は 100% オレンジではなく、他の柑橘系の果物を混ぜて搾っていました。オレンジの価格が高騰しているのかも知れません。ペットショップではクルミくんの処方食も売り切れていました。何かが起きているのかも知れません。帰宅してからクルミくんとおもちゃで遊びました。彼は数え切れないたくさんのおもちゃを持っていますが、遊ぶのは 1, 2 個です。今日もお気に入りのおもちゃで遊んでいました。

I went out to buy Kurumi’s dog food with my wife. We had lunch at a nearby restaurant. My wife likes this place because they serve freshly squeezed orange juice. However, today it wasn’t 100% orange; they were mixing it with other citrus fruits when squeezing. Perhaps the price of oranges has gone up. The prescription food for Kurumi was also sold out at the pet shop. Something might be going on. After returning home, I played with Kurumi with his toys. He has countless toys, but he only plays with one or two. Today, he was playing with his favorite toy again.
