写真撮影を楽しんでいる息子を連れて払沢の滝を訪れました。今日も蒸し暑い日でした。駐車場から滝までの間、小川沿いを 15 分ほど歩きます。道が良く無いのでクルミくんは抱かれたままなのですが、暑いのでお互いに疲れてしまいました。それでも滝の近くでは涼しい風が吹き、疲れた身体を癒してくれます。息子は早速、三脚を使って滝の写真を撮り始めていました。今日は週末なので、この涼を求めて多くの人が訪れていました。来週後半にはこの暑さも終わりを迎えると予報が出ています。もう一週間、我慢の日々が続きそうです。

We visited the waterfall called “Hossawa-No-Taki” with our son, he has been enjoying taking photos. It was another hot day today. We had to walk along the stream for about 15 minutes from the parking lot to reach the waterfall. The path was not in good condition, so our dog, Kurumi had to be carried, and both of us were tired due to the heat. Nevertheless, near the waterfall, a cool breeze was blowing and provided some relief for our tired bodies. My son promptly started taking photos of the waterfall using the tripod. Since it’s the weekend, many people had come seeking this coolness. The weather forecast predicts that this heat will come to an end by the latter part of next week. It looks like we’ll have to endure another week of this heat.

週末は我が家で一緒に時を過ごしてくれる息子と一緒に穏やかな週末の時間を持つことができました。近くの牧場は私たちも初めての場所で、間近に牛を見ることができました。今日も暑く、そして湿度が高い一日でした。夕食は近くの寿司屋で美味しいお寿司をいただくことができました。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。少し家で待っている時間が長い日となってしまいました。明日は一緒に出かけたいと思います。

I was able to spend a peaceful weekend with my son, he kindly spent time together at home. The nearby farm was a new place for us also, and we were able to see cows up close. Today was hot and humid. For dinner, we enjoyed delicious sushi at a nearby sushi restaurant. Kurumi was also lively today. It turned out to be a bit of a long day waiting at home. I’m looking forward to going out together tomorrow.

チェックアウトの前にクルミを連れて増上寺の境内を散策しました。朝から蒸し暑く、少し歩いただけなのに汗をかいてしまいました。クルミくんを可愛がってくれたオーストラリアから観光に訪れているカップルと会話することができました。初めての日本観光を楽しんでいるようですが、この暑さには参っているようでした。今日は午後からにわか雨が降るので注意するように伝えておきました。ホテルの近くにある食肉卸売店の前にある看板を見て、読めない漢字があったので帰宅してから調べたのですが、「こうし」（牛の子）と読むことを知りました。クルミくんの目は白色化が進んできました。強い陽射しを避けていたのですが、このような天気の時の散歩はやめたほうが良いかも知れません。

We took a walk around the precincts of Zojoji Temple with Kurumi before checking out. It was muggy from the morning, and even though we walked only a little, we ended up sweating. I was able to have a conversation with a couple of tourists from Australia they were visiting to enjoy the sights and had been kind to Kurumi. It seemed like they were enjoying their first visit to Japan, but they were struggling with the heat. I informed them to be cautious as there was forecasted rain in the afternoon today. When I saw a sign in front of a meat wholesale store near the hotel with a kanji character I couldn’t read, I looked it up after returning home and found out it reads ‘koushi’ (calf). Kurumi’s eyes have been becoming whiter. He’s been avoiding the strong sunlight, so it might be better to skip walks in this kind of weather.

クルミくんは昨日の疲れが出たようで朝は寝坊していました。都心にあるこのホテルではペットを預かってくれるので、私たちは安心して都心の観光ができます。今日は豊洲市場に行ってきました。5 年前に築地から移転したこの市場は見学コースも整備されています。市場の中にある寿司店で昼食をいただきました。夜は息子と合流して夕食を楽しみました。少し長い時間クルミくんにはホテルで待っていることになってしまいました。今日も家族と楽しい時間が持てたことに感謝です。

Kurumi seemed to be feeling the fatigue from yesterday, so he overslept this morning. This hotel in the city center accepts pets to stay and keep, so we can explore the city with peace of mind. Today, we visited Toyosu Market. This market relocated from Tsukiji five years ago, and they have established guided tours. We had lunch at a sushi restaurant inside the market. In the evening, we reunited with our son and enjoyed dinner together. Poor Kurumi had to wait at the hotel for quite a while today. We are grateful for another day of quality time with our family.

クルミくんを連れて都心のホテルに来ました。ここは犬と一緒に都心の時間を楽しむことができるので妻も私も気に入っています。数ヶ月前に予約を入れた時、この時期は涼しくなっていると思ったのですが、今日も日差しが強く暑い日でした。近くの公園を散策する予定でしたが、少し陽が影ってから歩くことにしました。しかし陽に焼けたアスファルトの街は夜になっても暑く、少し歩いただけなのに汗をたくさんかいてしまいました。クルミくんは以前にも来たことのあるこのホテルで安心して休んでいます。

We came to the downtown hotel with Kurumi. We both like it here because we can enjoy downtown life with our dog. When I made the reservation a few months ago, I thought it would be cooler at this time of year, but today the sun was strong and it was a hot day. We had planned to take a walk in the nearby park, but decided to wait a bit until the sun had set a little. However, even at night, the asphalt streets, heated by the sun, were still hot, and I ended up sweating a lot even after a short walk. Kurumi feels safe and comfortable resting at this hotel where we’ve been before.

3 日前にモロッコで発生した地震の規模はマグニチュード 6.8 という非常に大きな地震でした。今日の時点で 2,900 人もの人が命を落としています。そして今もなお行方がわからない人が多いので、もっと多くの人が命を失ったと思われます。モロッコでは過去 100 年以上も地震が無かったために住宅は耐震設計が施工されていなかったようです。日本の南岸沖でも同じような規模の地震がこの先 30 年以内に発生することが想定されています。テレビの報道番組を通じてモロッコの現状を見ることができますが、近い将来の私たちを見ているようで背筋が冷たくなりました。クルミくんは食事に整腸剤を混ぜて食べさせるようになってからお通じの調子が良くなっています。最近は餌に塗せられた整腸剤の匂いも気にならなくなってきたようです。

The earthquake that occurred in Morocco three days ago had a magnitude of 6.8, making it a very large earthquake. As of today, approximately 2,900 people have lost their lives, and many more are still unaccounted for, so it is believed that even more lives may have been lost. Morocco had not experienced an earthquake for over 100 years, which is why the buildings were not constructed with earthquake-resistant designs. A similar-scale earthquake is anticipated to occur off the southern coast of Japan within the next 30 years. I’ve been able to see the current situation in Morocco through television news programs, and it feels like we are glimpsing into our own future, scaring me alot.
Regarding Kurumi, ever since we started mixing a digestive aid into his meals, his digestion has improved. Recently, he seems to have become less bothered by the smell of the digestive aid applied to his food.

今日は月曜日、週の初めも猛暑となり、今週も暑い日が続きそうです。そして不安定な天気でした。少し雨が降ってきたので慌てて洗濯物を入れたり、陽が出てきたのでまた洗濯物を干したり、空模様を気にしながらの一日でした。夕方には青空が広がってきたので少し歩いてみました。朝夕の涼しさが感じられて助かります。スポーツ界では日本の選手たちが活躍しています。サッカー、ラグビー、野球、陸上と嬉しいニュースを見ることができました。クルミくんは今日も私と一緒にいて元気に過ごしていました。

Today is Monday, and it’s scorching hot as the beginning of the week, and it looks like we’ll have hot days throughout this week as well. The weather has been quite unstable. When it started to rain a bit, I hurriedly brought in the laundry, and when the sun came out again, I hung the laundry back out, all while keeping an eye on the sky. It was a day of constantly checking the weather. In the evening, the clear blue sky spread out, so I took a short walk. I’m grateful for the coolness in the morning and evening. Japanese athletes are doing well in the world of sports – soccer, rugby, baseball, and track and field – so I was happy to see that news. Kurumi was with me again today, lively and in good spirits.

年に数回、仕事で来日する息子との会話は私にとって至福の時間となっている。電子メールやテレビ電話では話せないことも面と向かって話すことができる。今回は少し深刻な話であるが、相続について話すことができた。まだ早い、と言われるかも知れないが、いずれは尽きる命である、考え始めることに遅いも早いも無いのだろう。今はお互いに離れていて、健康で安全に暮らせていることに感謝している。そして、その日が訪れるまで、お互いの会話を大切にしたいと思う。クルミくんは息子と遊んでもらって嬉しそうでした。また週末に来てくれるので楽しみにしています。

A few times in a year, conversations with my son, he comes to Japan for work, become a source of great joy for me. We can talk about things face to face that we can’t discuss through emails or video calls. This time, our conversation took a somewhat serious turn as we discussed inheritance. It might be considered premature, but it’s never too early to start thinking about it, as life is finite. We are currently apart, but I am grateful that we are both living healthily and safely. Until that day arrives, I want to cherish our conversations with each other. Kurumi seemed delighted to play with my son, and Kurumi looks forward to his visit again next weekend.

昨日までの台風は低気圧に変わってしまい、今日はもう心配ありません。豪雨の被害を受けた地域もあって心配していました。息子の帰国便も定刻運行のようです。夕方少し早めに空港に来ています。ターミナルの駐車場は全て満車です。停めるまで1時間もかかりました。もうすっかりコロナのことは忘れられたようです。

クルミは今日も元気に過ごしています。土曜日は妻と私がテニススクールで留守にするので寂しそうでした。

今日は豪雨の一日となる覚悟をしていたのですが、台風 13 号は日本の南沿岸で足踏みを始めてしまいました。最新の予報では台風 13 号は熱帯低気圧に弱まって、明日、近づいてくるようです。明日、シンガポールから来日する息子の便に影響が出ないことを願っています。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んでいました。クルミくんは私が側にいないと心配なようです。一緒に遊んで、疲れると近くにいることを確認して眠ってしまいます。

I had prepared myself for a day of heavy rain today, but Typhoon 13 has stalled along the southern coast of Japan. According to the latest forecast, Typhoon 13 is expected to weaken into a tropical depression and approach tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t affect my son’s flight from Singapore to Japan tomorrow. Kurumi was playing energetically today as well. It seems he gets worried when I’m not around. We play together, and when he gets tired, he makes sure I’m nearby before falling asleep.
