私がアマチュア無線の免許を取得したのは、私が 13 歳の時です。将来は自宅に大きなアンテナタワーを建てたい、という夢を抱いていました。結局、その夢は実現しませんでした。今日、車を充電している間の散策途中で、大きなアンテナタワーが建っている家を見ました。今でも活発に活動されていることを想像して見ていました。今日は義理の妹が息子夫婦に会いに遊びに来てくれました。みんなで昼食とデザートをいただき、楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。クルミくんも構ってくれる人が多いので、少し疲れ気味でした。今夜はきっと熟睡することでしょう。

今日から息子たちが来日することになり、私は空港まで迎えに行きました。帰りは少し渋滞していましたが、ほぼ、順調にドライブすることができました。空港で彼らが出てくるまで待たされるかと思ったら着陸して 30 分程度で会うことができ驚きました。コロナ禍が終わり、海外から来る旅行者も増えて、全てが以前のように回るようになってきたようです。さて、これから 2 週間、息子たちが日本で有意義な時間を過ごせるようにおもてなしです。クルミくんはひさしびりのお客様と再会できて少し興奮しています。

My sons are coming to Japan today and I picked them up at the airport. The way drive back to home was a little congested, but mostly smooth. クルミくんが好きな家のソファーは脚を取り外してあって、彼が上り下りしやすいようにしてあります。それでも彼の背丈ほどある座面までの高さですが、上手に駆け上がっています。飛び降りる時は足や腰に負担がかからないか心配です。階段やスロープを試したことがあるのですが、クルミくんは使ってくれませんでした。

大学での翻訳授業の時間では教材として「ニュースで学ぶ現代英語」という NHK ラジオ放送を活用しています。毎朝 15 分間の放送ですが、ネットワークから後でも聞くことができます。放送された’内容から新しい単語や言い回しを学んでいます。そして授業では 1 週間分の放送から、単語のテストが 20 問出ます。これまでの最高得点は 18 点、どうしても満点が取れません。次回こそは、と頑張っています。夕方、コロナウィルス対策のワクチンを接種を受けました。これで 7 回になります。また数日、接種箇所の痛みに耐えなければなりません。クルミくんは今日も一人で留守番をする時間が長かったので、少し機嫌が良くありません。

私は今日も一日、自分の部屋で仕事をしていたので、クルミくんと遊ぶ時間はありませんでした。昼食時に少しだけ、クルミくんと一緒の時間を持てました。彼はいつでもソファーの上で過ごしています。今日も私と遊んだ後は直ぐにソファーの上に戻ってしまいました。一日の時間がとても短く感じられます。

今年最後の芝刈りをしました。気温が下がって、風も吹いていたので汗をかかずに快適に作業をすることができました。この芝生の緑は目に優しい色です。小さな庭ですが、私の自慢の芝生です。見上げると空は真っ青、快晴の午後でした。クルミくんは今朝も私たちが起こすまで布団の中で眠っていました。

I mowed the lawn for the last time this year. The temperature was cooler and the wind was blowing so I was able to work comfortably without sweating. The green color of this lawn is easy on my eyes. After a lot of activity at tennis school with my wife, I inevitably get sleepy on Saturday afternoons. I thought I would take a short nap, but ended up napping for an hour. 今日も日差しが強い日でした。暑いのと、目に良く無いと思い、リビングに差し込む太陽の影になる場所にクルミくんを連れて行きました。日中はクーラーを点けたくなるくらい部屋の温度が上がりました。コキアが赤くなっています。青空とのコントラストが綺麗でした。陽が沈むのが早くなりました。夕方 5 時には暗くなり始めて、私は急いで帰宅しました。

It was another day with strong sunlight. I took Kurumi to a place where the sun shaded the living room, because I thought it was hot and not good for his eyes. The temperature in the room rose so high during the day that I wanted to turn on the air conditioner. Kochia is turning red. The contrast with the blue sky was beautiful. The sun was setting early.
