元旦の朝、零下 6 ℃まで冷え込みました。庭の睡蓮鉢、金魚の水も凍ってしまいました。寒さ対策をして家の近くで初日の出を見ました。10 分間、日の出が見えるまで立っていたらすっかり冷えてしまいました。今朝は風もなく、空は快晴で雲もなく、日の出がとても綺麗でした。周りで見ている人たちの顔がオレンジ色に染まっていました。今日は一日、寒い日でした。でも昼間は太陽の陽がたくさんリビングに差し込んできて助かりました。今日はクルミとずっと一緒にリビングで過ごしています。

今日は大晦日、家中の掃除をしました。リビングの窓を家の中から拭いていたら雪が降り出しました。今日からまた寒気が来てお正月は寒くなりそうです。掃除をしている間昼寝をしていたクルミは私たちがソファーに座った途端に起き出してきて遊べとせがんできました。今年も健康で安全に暮らせたことに感謝します。

Today was New Year’s Eve and I cleaned the whole house. When I was wiping the living room window from inside the house, it started to snow. It’s going to be cold again in the New Year from today. Kurumi was taking a nap while I was cleaning, then got up as soon as we sat on the sofa and was asking to play with toys. Thanks to god for living a healthy and safe life this year as well.

天気予報の通り、今日は少し暖かい日でした。妻と私は今年最後のテニススクールでたくさんボールを打ってきました。今年の春にはテニス肘で苦しんだのですが、今では大丈夫になりました。今年も休まずに毎週テニスできて幸せでした。クルミは今日も早起きして元気に遊んでいました。薪ストーブに火が入ると早速、ストーブの前で温まっていました。

As the weather forecast said, it was a little warm today. My wife and I have hit a lot of balls at the last tennis school this year. I suffered from tennis elbow this spring, but now it’s okay. I was happy to be able to play tennis every week without taking a break this year. Kurumi got up early today and was playing well. As soon as the wood stove got warm, he was warming up in front of the stove.

今日も気温が低い日となりましたが、今回の寒波は今日までで、明日は少し気温が上がるようです。寒くてもクルミは庭に出るのが好きです。小さい身体ですから長く出ていることは避けています。そしてクルミは今日の誕生日で 12 歳となりました。獣医さんの定期検診でも「おめでとう、健康ですね」とお祝いの言葉をいただきご機嫌でした。午後は疲れたのか妻の腕の中でうたた寝をしていました。

Because his body is small, I avoid staying him out for a long time. And Kurumi is 12 years old on today’s birthday. Even at the veterinarian’s regular examination, he was in a good mood with the congratulatory words, “Congratulations, you are healthy.” Maybe he was tired in the afternoon, Kurumi was napping in my wife’s arms.

今日は、私にとって今年最後の出勤日でした。今の仕事を始めてから来年の 2 月で 4 年が経過することになります。コロナ禍で職を失う人もいるのに、私はこうやって働けることに感謝しています。帰宅したらクルミは寒かったのか、ベットの中で昼寝をしていました。今日も気温が低い一日でした、夕方から薪ストーブで温まっています。会社は年末年始の休みに入ります。年明けは 5 日からとなります。休み中の宿題がありますが、すこしのんびりしようと思います。

Today was my last work day of the year. It will be four years since I started current job in February next year. I’m grateful to be able to work this way, even though some people lose their jobs due to the Corona situation. When I got home, Kurumi was probably cold, and he was taking a nap in his bed. It was a cold day today as well, and it has been warming up in the wood stove since the evening. The company is on holidays for the year-end and New Year holidays. The new year will start on the 5th. I have some homework during the holidays, but I’m going to take it easy.

今日も快晴の天気でしたが、気温は低く冬日となりました。風があって体感温度はかなり低い一日でした。半年以上待っていた給湯器が納品され、今日、工事が行われました。今まではガスでお湯を沸かしていましたが、これからは深夜電力でお湯を沸かして大きなタンクに貯める設備を使います。来年の春に納車される予定の EV 用の充電ポートも設置していただき、一連の工事が完了しました。クルミは工事の間、不機嫌にしていましたが、夕方からは薪ストーブの前で温まっていました。

Until now, we used to boil water with gas, but from now on, we will use equipment that boil water with electricity at midnight and store it in a large tank. A series of construction work was completed with the installation of a charging port for the EV, which is scheduled to be delivered next spring. Kurumi was in a bad mood during the construction, but from the evening he was warming up in front of the wood stove.

朝の散歩で猫が側溝の中から私を見ていました。晴れたのですが、今日はこの冬一番の冷え込みの朝となりました。野良猫にとってみると側溝の中は少し暖かいのかも知れません。今日は少し忙しい日でした。午前中はトラックが着いたので薪を棚に並べました。 2 立米の量を 2 人で運び終えると汗だくになってしまいました。午後は昨日取り付けたドアベルの雨対策にカバーを取り付けてみました。そしてクルミとの時間です。寒かったので早くから薪ストーブを使って暖かくしました。クルミは薪ストーブの前で温まるのが大好きです。

A cat was looking at me from the gutter on a morning walk. It was sunny, but today was the coldest morning of this season. For stray cats, the inside of the gutter may be a little warm. Today was a little busy day. The truck arrived in the morning, so I lined up the firewood on the shelves. I and the driver, two people finished carrying the amount of 2 cubic meters, I got sweaty. In the afternoon, I installed a cover on the doorbell that I installed yesterday to prevent rain. And it’s time with Kurumi. It was cold so I used a wood stove to warm room up early. Kurumi loves to warm up in front of a wood stove.

クリスマスの週末、天気は少し下り坂です。明日は強い寒気が日本全体を覆うようなことを天気予報では言っています。自分へのクリスマスプレゼントとして Google の製品を買ってみました。以前、車庫に取り付けた監視カメラの類似品です。ドアベルという製品で、インターフォンの機能をネットワークで実現しています。これがあれば、不在時の来客とも受け答えができそうです。クルミは大好きなおもちゃを噛んで遊んでいます。もうすぐかれの誕生日です。新しいおもちゃに交換してあげましょう。

On this Christmas weekends, the weather is a bit downhill. The weather forecast says that tomorrow the strong chills will cover the whole of Japan. I bought a Google product as a Christmas present for myself. It is similar to the surveillance camera previously installed in the garage. A product called a doorbell realizes the function of an intercom on a network. With this, it seems that I will be able to talk with the visitor even when we are absent. Kurumi is playing with his favorite toy. It’s his birthday soon. Let’s exchange it for a new toy.

天気が良い日はクルミと庭で遊ぶことができます。仕事の合間、私がリビングに行くと一緒に庭に行こうとせがんできました。枯れ葉がたくさん庭にあるのでクルミの身体に付いてしまいます。今夜はクリスマスイブ、妻と二人、近くのカフェでスイーツをいただくことにしました。

When the weather is nice, I can play with Kurumi in the garden. During my work, I was able to go to the garden with him when I went to the living room at the break time. There are a lot of dead leaves in the garden, so they stick to his body. Tonight, on Christmas Eve, my wife and I decided to have sweets at a nearby cafe.

クルミは今日も元気におもちゃで遊び、そして眠っていました。昼間は太陽の光がたくさん入るリビングはとても暖かく、クルミはおとなしく昼寝をしていました。今日は妻が外出、私は自宅での仕事でしたからクルミは一人の時間が長く、少しつまらなかったかも知れません。そんな日はクルミをたくさん抱きしめてあげます。

Kurumi was playing with toys and sleeping well today, too. In the daytime, the living room with lots of sunlight was very warm, and he took a nap quietly. My wife went out today and I was working from home, so Kurumi may have been a little boring for a long time alone. On such a day, I will hug a lot of him.
