木曜日から日曜日しか営業していないパン屋に行ってみました。朝食はパンを食べるので、新しいパン屋さんにはとても興味があります。明日はこの店のパンで朝食が楽しみです。私は今年も電気消費量を減らすことを考えています。ここは小さな太陽光発電所です。自家発電した電気を売るよりもなるべく自宅で消費することを考えています。そこで、給湯施設が夜間に電気で沸き上げを行うので、発電電力が余ってくる昼間に沸き上げをさせてみようと思います。クルミくんに新しいおやつとおもちゃを買ってきました。歯磨きに効果があるものを選んできました。おやつは気に入って噛んでいました。

We went to a bakery that is only open Thursday through Sunday. We have bread for breakfast, so we are very interested in new bakeries. We are looking forward to breakfast tomorrow with bread from this store. I am looking to reduce my electricity consumption again this year. Here is a small solar power plant. I am thinking of consuming as much of the electricity I generate at home as possible rather than selling it. So, since the hot water unit boils water at night with electricity, I will try to boil it during the daytime when there is a surplus of generated electricity. We bought new treats and toys for Kurumi. we chose one that helps him brush his teeth. He liked the treats and chewed them.

暦の上では大寒の今日、朝から曇りで肌寒い一日でした。午後からは雨が降り始めました。天気予報では雪になるかもしれないと予報が出ていましたが、明日まで雨になりそうです。先日訪れた富山の叔母から手紙が届きました。ケアハウスに通っている叔母はいつも笑顔の明るい人です。折り紙の作品が封筒に入っていました。心温まるメッセージをいただきました。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。週末は一緒に遊べるのでクルミくんも嬉しそうです。

It was a cloudy and chilly day in the morning on this day, which according to the calendar is the “Daikan” day. It began to rain in the afternoon. The weather forecast predicted that it might snow, but it looks like it will rain until tomorrow. I received a letter from my aunt in Toyama whom I visited the other day. My aunt who attends a care house is a cheerful person she always has a smile on her face. There was an origami work in the envelope. I received a heartwarming message. Kurumi was doing well today. Kurumi seems happy because he can play with me on weekends.

金曜日は会社に行って業務をしています。最近は通勤に使う道が渋滞していて、事務所に着くまで時間がかかります。そして、出社する社員の数も多くなってきました。心配なのは感染で、気がつくと周囲の人もコロナに感染したようなことを言っています。事務所ではマスクを着用するようにしています。クルミくんは今日もたくさん甘ったれていたようです。私が帰ると直ぐに膝の上に来たがっていました。

On Fridays, I go to the office to do business. Recently, the roads I use to commute to work are congested and it takes me a long time to get to the office. And the number of employees coming to work is increasing. What worries me is the infection, and I notice that people around me are also talking as if they have contracted corona. I try to wear mask in the office. Kurumi seems to have been spoiled a lot today. He wanted to come on my lap as soon as I came back.

クルミくんは昨年の入院以来、歯磨きが大嫌いになってしまいました。毎日、妻を手こずらせています。そこでおやつを「歯磨きガム」にしてみました。ガムと言ってもクルミくんは噛み切ってすぐに食べてしまうので、少しずつ手に持って噛ませてみました。小さなクルミくんですが、噛む力は強く、素手であげるのは危険に思えてきました。これで、少しは歯磨きの効果がでることを期待しています。

Since his hospitalization last year, Kurumi hates brushing his teeth. Every day, he makes my wife’s life difficult. So we decided to make “toothpaste gum” as a snack. I tried to make him chew it a little at a time by holding it in my hand. Although he is a small dog, his chewing power is so strong that it seems dangerous to give it to him with bare hands. I hope this will help him brush his teeth a little more.

一日に何度かある電話会議の合間、妻と近くの公団住宅にあるカフェで昼食をいただくことにしました。陽射しが暖かい昼時でしたが、カフェの窓からは陽が入らず、寒い室内でした。クルミくんは家で待っていてもらい、久しぶりに妻とのんびりできた昼食でした。昨日聞いた悲しい出来事について妻と話していました。友人が癌に罹患していることが判明し、余命宣告を受けているような悲しい事件です。今年 62 歳になる彼にとって、とても辛く、悔しい思いをしていることと思います。ご家族も今後について心配されていることを思うと胸が痛みます。

In between several conference calls a day, my wife and I decided to have lunch at a café in a nearby public housing complex. The sun was shining warmly at noon, but there was no sunlight coming in through the cafe’s windows, and it was cold inside. Kurumi was waiting for us at home, and for the first time in a while, we were able to have a relaxing lunch. I was talking with my wife about a sad event I heard about yesterday. It is such a sad incident that a friend of ours has been diagnosed with cancer and has been given a life expectancy. It must be very painful and frustrating for him as he will be 62 years old this year. It is heartbreaking to think that his family is also worried about the future.

今日は朝から北風が強く吹く寒い一日でした。クルミくんも午前中は寒いのかベッドに潜り込んで眠っていました。右足で踏ん張って左足を少し上げられるようになっています。ソファーに飛び乗ることはまだできませんが、毎日、少しずつ回復してきている姿を見ています。午後は車の充電をしました。遠出をしていないので効率はあまり良くなく、1kw で 4km の走行といったところです。それでもガソリンに比べると安価なので助かっています。ガソリンの価格にすると 1リットル 20km といった燃費になります。

Today was a cold day with a strong northerly wind blowing from the morning. Kurumi was also sleeping in his bed in the morning, perhaps because of the cold. He is now able to step on his right leg and lift his left leg a little. He still cannot jump on the sofa, but we see him recovering little by little every day. In the afternoon, I recharged the car. The efficiency is not so good because I have not gone far, and I can only drive 4km per 1kw. Even so, it is cheaper than gasoline, which is a big help. In terms of the price of gasoline, the mileage is about 20 km per liter.

朝起きるとまだ暗い時期はもう少し眠っていたくなります。それでもクルミくんは起きてトイレをするので私も起きます。外が明るくなるまでの静かな時間が好きです。テレビは見ないで熱いコーヒーを淹れて少しのんびりします。今日の予定を確認しておきます。そしてクルミくんが起き出すと忙しい朝の始まりです。今日も一緒に楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。

When I wake up in the morning, I want to sleep a little longer when it is still dark. Still, Kurumi gets up and goes for the toilet, so I get up too. I like the quiet time until it gets light outside. I make myself a cup of hot coffee and relax a little instead of watching TV. I check today’s schedule. Then Kurumi gets up and our busy morning begins. We had a great time together today.

昨日の雪は一時的なものでした。庭に積もった雪も朝からの天気で直ぐに溶けてしまいました。この冬の初雪となりました。今日は S さんの手伝いをして、ホームページのサーバー移行を行いました。ODN がホームページサービスを停止するため、さくらインターネットへの引越しをされることになりました。プロバイダーが提供するマニュアルには専門用語がたくさん使われているので、S さんも理解に苦しんでいたようです。今日は駅前のカフェで一緒に作業をして、無事にさくらインターネットで開設するところまでできて安心しました。まだ残っている作業がありますが、それは S さんが努力してみるようです。クルミくんは今日も私たちの膝に来て甘えていました。そして良く眠っています。寒い日は人の膝が暖かいのでしょう。

Yesterday’s snow was only temporary. The snow that piled up in the garden melted quickly in the morning sunshime. It was the first snow of this winter. Today I helped Ms. S with the server migration of her homepage; she is moving to Sakura Internet because ODN is going to discontinue their homepage service. The manual provided by the provider uses a lot of technical terms, which Ms. S had a hard time understanding. Today we worked together at a cafe near the station, and I was relieved that we were able to successfully open the site with Sakura Internet. There is still some work left to be done, but it seems that Ms. S will try to make an effort. Kurumi came to our lap again today and spoiled us. He is sleeping well. It must be warm in our lap on a cold day.

インターネット回線の契約変更を申し込みました。これまで 1G だったものを 10G に変更してみます。いずれにしても複数の家庭で共有するのである程度の速度しか確保できませんが、新しい技術に触れていたい気持ちが大きく、工事をお願いしています。来月初旬には切り替わる予定です。これにともなって、ルーターも 10G 対応に変更しないと意味が無いのでまずは適当な機種を選択してみました。今日はそのルーターに置き換える作業をしていました。クルミくんは今日も相変わらず、元気に過ごしています。昼間は晴れていたのですが、午後から冷たい雨が降り始めました。夜は雪になるような予報が出ています。

I have applied to change my internet contract. What was previously 1G will be changed to 10G. In any case, I can only get a certain speed since it will be shared by several households, but I am very eager to stay in touch with the new technology and have asked for the installation. The switchover will take place early next month. In line with this, there is no point in changing the router if it is not compatible with 10G, so I first selected an appropriate model. Today, I was working on replacing the router with the new one. Kurumi is doing well as usual today. It was sunny during the day, but cold rain started to fall in the afternoon. It is forecast to snow at night.

クルミくんは食いしん坊です。いつでもお腹が空いているのかも知れませんが、食事時間が近づくと「まだですか？」とでも言う目で訴えてきます。食欲があることは良いことだと思います。そして今日もよく寝ていました。今朝はとても寒く、庭の睡蓮鉢は凍っていました。氷の下で泳ぐ金魚はとても寒そうでした。

Kurumi is a glutton. He may be hungry at any time, but when mealtime approaches, he will ask, “Not yet?” with his eye. I think it is good that he has an appetite. And he slept well today, too. It was so cold this morning that the water lily pots in the garden were frozen. The goldfish swimming under the ice looked very cold.
