今年の冬は暖かい日が続いていて助かっています。例年よりも暖かい太平洋高気圧の勢力が強いためらしいです。昼間は窓から降り注ぐ太陽の光を求めて愛犬のクルミは暖かそうです。先月から世界各国に感染が広まったコロナウィルスは寒さが好きだとか聞きました。早く暖かくなり、感染が鎮静化することを望みます。

This winter, warm days continue and I am saved. It seems that the strength of the Pacific High is warmer than usual. In the daytime, lovely Kurumi seems to be warm in search of the sunshine falling from the windows. I heard that the coronavirus, which has spread around the world since last month, likes cold. Hope it warms up quickly and the infection subsides.

家の煙突を見て造園をされているかたから声をかけられました。伐採木が出たら声をかけてくださるとのこと、昨日、その伐採が行われたので持ってきていただきました。残念ながら枯れた柏の木だったようで半分は腐りかけています。使える部分をチェーンソーで切り落として整理しました。昨日と今日、チェーンソーと斧を使っての作業、疲労困憊です。暖かい週末の良い汗を流す機会となりました。

Looking at the chimney of the house, a landscaping person called out. He said that he would call out when the felled trees came out, and he brought them yesterday as the felling took place. Unfortunately, it seems to have been a withered Kashiwa tree and half is rotten. The usable parts were cut off with a chainsaw and arranged. Yesterday and today, working with chainsaw and ax, exhaustion. It was a good opportunity to sweat a good weekend.

犬の散歩目的で近くの河原を散策しました。陽射しがなく寒い週末になっています。河原には遊歩道があり安心して犬を歩かせることができます。大きな鯉が泳いでいました。そしてカワセミやサギの姿をみることもできてラッキーな気分です。小さな魚を狙っている彼らの姿を見ていると時間が経つのを忘れてしまいました。

We took a walk on a nearby river side for the purpose of walking Kurumi. It is a cold weekend without sunlight. There is a promenade in the riverside where dogs can walk with confidence. A big carp was swimming. And I am lucky to see kingfishers and herons. I forgot that time had passed when I saw them looking for small fish.

私は必ずノートを持ってメモをとるようにしている。会議の時、人との話し合いの場など、書き留めておくことを習慣としている。ノートは A5 版の大きさを使い、見開きでコピー機にかければちょうど A4 用紙が使えて便利である。話をしながら、説明する時も、言葉だけで無く、ちょっとした図があると意思疎通が良くなる。ノートは A5 版だとある程度選択の幅が広がる、私はコクヨの Canpus シリーズを愛用している。さて、ペンであるが、長いこと愛用してきたパーカーの万年筆からモンブランに交替しようと考えた。理由は無いが、気分転換が目的である。しかし、このモンブランのインクとコクヨの紙の相性が非常に悪く、インクが弾かれてしまう。これまでの万年筆が忘れないで欲しいと言っているようで、今しばらく愛用を続けよう。結果、 2 本の万年筆を持ち歩く羽目となった。

Notebooks use the size of the A5 size, and if I am facing a copier with a two-page spread, I can use A4 paper just for convenience. When talking and explaining, not only words but also a little figure will make communication easier. The A5 version gives me some choice, and I love KOKUYO’s Campus series. By the way, I decided to replace the pen with a fountain pen from Parker, which I have been using for a long time. There is no reason, but the purpose is to change. However, the compatibility between the Montblanc ink and KOKUYO paper is very poor, and the ink is repelled. It seems that the pen wants Parker fountain pen to remember, so let’s continue to use it for a while. As a result, I have to carry two fountain pens.

短かった北米出張、今日の朝の会議を終えて帰国の途につきます。この 2 日間はニュージャージー北部に滞在していました。幸いにも雪や雨に降られずに済みそうです。久しぶりに来ました。米国の雰囲気を思い出す良い機会になりました。人は皆表現が豊かです。良く話します。まるで話すことが生きている証のようにさえ感じられました。普段は静かな私たちにとっては賑やかなレストランでの食事も少し閉口します。しかし、言葉に出さなければ伝わらないこと、言葉だけでも伝わらないこと、そんなことを考えさせられるこの数日でした。海の向こうから電話会議などで伝えようとしていますが、どうしても面と向かって言葉と表現で伝えることが最高の機会となっています。

After a short business trip to North America, I finished my meeting this morning and headed home. For the last two days I have been in northern New Jersey. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be raining or snowing. I came after a long time. It was a good opportunity to remember the atmosphere of the United States. Everyone is rich in expression. Talk well much. It felt like talking was even a living proof. For us, who are usually quiet, the food at our lively restaurants talking is a bit difficult. However, it was these days that made me think about things that I couldn’t tell if I didn’t put it in words, things that I couldn’t even say in words. I’m trying to convey from the other side of the sea in a conference call, but the best opportunity is to convey it in words and expressions face to face.

今日はミネアポリスからニューヨークへの移動日となります。2 泊という短期間の滞在でした。幸いにも大雪になることは無く、全ての行程を順調に終えることができました。今回、Uber というアプリケーションを使って配車を依頼する手段で移動を行いました。シンガポールの Grab 同様、我々にとっては便利な移動手段となっています。北米ではチップの習慣が残っています。Uber ではチップの設定も可能で合計した金額をクレジットカードから引き落とすことができて便利です。降車した後、ドラーバーの評価と同時にチップのレートを決めることができます。新しいことを知ることができた旅でした。

Today is the day of travel from Minneapolis to New York. It was a short stay of two nights. Fortunately, there was no heavy snowfall and I was able to finish all the things smoothly. This time, I moved by means of requesting a vehicle dispatch using an application called Uber. Like Singapore’s Grab, it’s a convenient way to get around. Tip habits remain in North America. Uber also allows you to set a tip and it is convenient to deduct the total amount from your credit card. After disembarking, you can determine the tip rate at the same time as the evaluation of Drava. It was a trip to learn new things.

何年ぶりになるだろうか、しばらくの間北米に来ていませんでした。日本は成人の日の祝日、その夕方の便で成田からシカゴへ入りました。アメリカ合衆国への入国には事前に ESTA というシステムを使って登録する必要があります。前回のものが期限切れになっていたので再申請をしました。入国審査には時間が掛かると言われて来ましたがパスポートをスキャンして指紋と顔写真を撮り審査官の所へ。入国の目的などを聞かれて再度指紋と顔写真、15 分程度で審査場を抜けることができました。手荷物を受け取り、国内線のチェックインを済ませて乗り継ぎのターミナルへバスで移動です。確かトラムがあったと記憶していますが今日はバスでした。久しぶりの米国、移動が多く忙しい週ですが少しは楽しむことができればと思います。シカゴからミネアポリスへ移動してそこで 2 泊します。この時期に心配なのは豪雪ですが、今週は大丈夫なようで安心しました。

I haven’t been to North America for a while, how many years will it be. Japan entered Chicago from Narita on an Adults’ Day holiday that evening. To enter the United States, we must first register using the ESTA system. I re-applied because the previous one had expired. It was said that it would take time for immigration, but I scanned my passport, took a fingerprint and a photo of my face, and went to the examiner. Asked about the purpose of entry into the country, I was able to get out of the examination area again in about 15 minutes with a fingerprint and a face photo. Pick up my baggage, check in for my domestic flight and transfer to the connecting terminal by bus. I remember there was a tram, but it was a bus today. It’s been a long time in the United States, a busy week with many trips, but I hope I can enjoy it a little. Transfer from Chicago to Minneapolis for 2 nights. I was worried about heavy snow at this time, but I felt relieved this week.

寒い冬なのですが、今年は比較的気温が高く助かっています。陽の暖かさに誘われてクルミを連れて公園を散歩しました。犬を連れた人と会話を楽しむこともできました。10 歳となったクルミですが、歳の割には若く見られる顔をしたクルミは 10 歳と聞くと驚く人が多いようです。たくさん歩いたクルミは夕方にかけてぐっすりと眠り込んでいます。公園ではこの週末に行われる「どんど焼き」の準備が進んでいました。

Although it is a cold winter, the temperature is relatively high this year and it has been saved. I was invited by the warmth of the sun and took a walk with me in the park with Kurumi. I enjoyed talking with the person who also taking a dog. Kurumi is now 10 years old, but it seems that he looks younger. Kurumi walked a lot has fallen asleep during this afternoon. The park was preparing for the event called “Don-Do-Yaki” this weekend.

2012年版の Z4 に乗っています。リアミラーですが、自動防眩ミラーになっていますが、オープンカーの宿命かも知れませんが、後方からのヘッドライトの光がうまくセンサーに入りません。夜は後方からの車両が近いと眩しくて困っていました。そこでリアウィンドウにフィルムを貼って対策することとしました。昼間の視界が少し暗くなってしまいますが、これで夜間走行も快適になりました。

At night, it was dazzling and dreadful when vehicles from the rear were near. So I decided to put a film on the rear window to take measures. Although the field of view in the daytime is a little dark, driving at night is now more comfortable.

私の住む地域では穏やかな日々を過ごすことができました。家族が集まり食事と酒を楽しみ、近くの寺院に初詣、犬を連れての散歩など、三が日は平年よりも暖かく、助かりました。今年は週末を加えて 9 連休という少し長いお休みをいただいています。この機会に今年 1 年のことを考えて、有意義な時間を過ごしたいと思います。

In my area these days was warm and nice. Family gathered and enjoyed meals and drinks, went to a nearby temple for a first visit, and took a walk with Kurumi. This year, we have a long holiday, nine weekends by adding the weekends. I would like to take this opportunity to spend a meaningful time thinking about this year.
