少し涼しい天気だったので、クルミくんと一緒にコスモスを見に公園に行ってきました。今年は黄花コスモスが丘一面に広がっていて、圧巻の景色でした。クルミくんはカートに乗っていると歩きたがるので疲れない程度に歩かせました。それでも帰りには疲れたようで、カートの中で熟睡していました。今日は日差しが時々出る程度で、とても清々しい天気でした。私はお気に入りのカメラで写真を撮ることができて、満足です。

It was a slightly cool weather, so we went to the park with Kurumi to see the cosmos flowers. This year, yellow cosmos flowers spread all over the hill, creating a breathtaking view. Kurumi likes to walk when he’s in his stroller, so we let him walk enough to not get tired. However, he seemed tired on the way back and was fast asleep in the stroller. Today, the sun occasionally peeked through, making it a very refreshing day. I was able to take photos with my favorite camera, so I’m satisfied as well.

クルミくんの健診で獣医を訪ねました。急に気温が下がったことにより体調を崩す犬が多いのか、待合室は混雑していました。クルミくんも昨日から体調を崩していて、薬を処方してもらいました。獣医と犬の白内障手術について話すことができました。最近は犬用の眼内レンズも開発されていて、治療が行われているようです。クルミくんも白内障が進行していますが、年老いたクルミくんには手術は良くありません。これからも大事にしてやります。

I visited the veterinarian for Kurumi’s checkup. The waiting room was crowded, as if many dogs were getting sick due to the sudden drop in temperature. Kurumi had also been sick since yesterday, and we asked him to prescribe some medicine. We were able to talk with the vet about canine cataract surgery. It seems that intraocular lenses for dogs have recently been developed and are being used for treatment. Kurumi also has advanced cataracts, but surgery is not good for old Kurumi. We will continue to take good care of him.

今日は朝から良い天気に恵まれました。日中は少し暑くなりましたが、朝夕はとても涼しく、やっと秋になった感があります。大学の講義に自転車で通いました。学生に混じっていると自分の歳を忘れてしまいそうです。今日の講義も新鮮でとても興味深い内容でした。新しいことが身につくと少しですが、自分の世界が広がって嬉しくなります。でもその反対側で多くのことを忘れていくのかも知れません。クルミくんは日差しが暖かいのかソファーの上でのんびりとした時間を過ごしていました。

I was blessed with good weather from the morning today. It got a little hot during the day, but mornings and evenings were pleasantly cool, finally giving a sense of autumn. I rode my bike to attend the class at the campus. Being among the students, I sometimes forget my own age. Today’s lecture was also refreshing and very interesting. Learning new things, even if it’s just a little, makes my world expand, and I feel happy. However, on the flip side, I may forget many things. As for Kurumi, he was spending a relaxed time on the sofa, basking in the warm sunshine.

今日もクルミくんはバスケットの中で過ごしています。気に入ったようです。犬とは会話ができないので何を考え、何を思っているか分かりません。しかしこれまで長く一緒に過ごしているとクルミくんの目を見ていると何を言いたいのかわかるようになってきます。クルミくんは今年の 12 月で 14 歳になります。これまで私たちは 3 頭の愛犬とお別れしてきましたが、どれも 13 歳の誕生日を迎えることはできませんでした。クルミくんとあとどれだけの時間、一緒に暮らせるか、考えてしまいます。今日は自転車に乗って近くの公園まで往復してみました。明日の講座には自転車で行こうと思います。猛暑だった頃は自転車に乗る気持ちはおきませんでしたが、少し涼しくなってきました。自転車にのって風を感じます。

Kurumi is spending his time in the basket. It seems he enjoys it. Since we can’t have conversations with dogs, I don’t know what he’s thinking or feeling. However, over the long time we’ve spent together, I’ve started to understand what Kurumi wants to convey by looking into his eyes. Kurumi will turn 14 years old this coming December. We’ve had to say goodbye to three beloved dogs in the past, none of whom made it to their 13th birthday. I can’t help but think about how much more time we can live together with Kurumi. Today, I took a bike ride to the nearby park and back. I’m planning to bike to tomorrow’s class. During the scorching heat, I had no desire to ride a bike, but it’s become a bit cooler now. Riding a bike allows me to feel the wind.

一昨日の夜は曇っていて見ることができませんでしたが、昨夜は雲間から満月を見ることができました。この季節の中秋の名月です。望遠レンズを手放したので 35mm の単焦点レンズでしたが、写真を撮ることができました。今日の昼食は妻と外でいただきました。ラクサスープの麺はシンガポールで息子たちと食べた味を思い出させてくれました。クルミくんはバスケットの中で休むのが好きになり、自分で上手に入ったり、出たりするようになりました。ソファーで一緒にいると自分からバスケットに行ってしまうようになりました。

The day before yesterday, it was cloudy and I couldn’t see the moon, but last night, I was able to see the full (one day after) moon through the clouds. It’s the Mid-Autumn Festival moon of this season. I used a 35mm prime lens since I don’t have any telephoto lens, but I managed to take some photos. For lunch today, my wife and I dined outside. The noodles with the laksa soup reminded me of the taste we had with our sons in Singapore. Kurumi has started to enjoy resting in the basket and can now easily go in and out by himself. When we’re on the sofa together, he even goes into the basket on his own.

通信販売を活用しています。昨日、注文したバスケットが今日の午後には配達されてきました。商品をネットで検索して、購入者の評判を読んで購入しました。配達される前にはメッセージに連絡が入るので配達される希望時間帯を設定することができます。ネットの機能は便利なのですが、これを悪用するケースも多いようで注意が必要です。また、配達する人材の確保にも苦労されているようです。このような便利なシステムが絶えないように上手に使っていこうと思います。クルミくんは早速、バスケットに入って眠っていました。

I utilize online shopping. The basket I ordered yesterday was delivered this afternoon already. I searched for the product online and made the purchase after reading buyer reviews. Before click to buy, I received a message, allowing me to set a preferred delivery time slot. While online features are convenient, it’s important to be cautious as there are cases of misuse. Furthermore, it seems they are facing challenges in securing delivery personnel. I intend to make good use of this convenient system so that it continues to thrive. Kurumi wasted no time and was already sleeping in the basket.

クルミくんはカートに入って眠るのが好きになってしまいました。今日もカートの前で入りたそうにしているので入れてあげたら、そのまま数時間、昼寝をしていました。箱形になった所に収まっていると安心するのかも知れません。妻と相談してカゴを探すことにしました。天気は今日も蒸し暑く、不快でしたが、昨日よりも気温は低く、助かりました。今日で 9 月の業務は終わり、今年も 3 ヶ月を残すになりました。時の流れの速さに驚きます。

Kurumi has come to like sleeping inside the cart. Today, as he looked eager to get in front of the cart again, I let him in, and he took a nap for several hours. Maybe he feels secure when he fits into a box-like space. I discussed it with my wife, and we decided to look for a basket. The weather was hot and uncomfortable again today, but the temperature was lower than yesterday, which was a relief. With today, I’ve finished my tasks for September, leaving only three months left in the year. I’m amazed at how quickly time flies.

私は Apple 社製のパソコンとスマホを使っています。Apple 社は毎年、この時期に新製品を発表すると同時に OS の主要更新を行います。新しい OS を使ってみると新しい機能があってワクワクします。パソコンは Sonoma 14 になり、スマホは IOS 17 となりました。古い機種に最新版の OS が入ると今までよりも動作が重たく感じるようになります。これも Apple 社の戦略なのかも知れません。クルミくんは今日も涼しい部屋の中で過ごしています。猛暑が戻ってきてしまい、外に出ることができませんでした。

I use the Apple computer and smartphone. Apple announces new products and major OS updates around this time every year. Trying out the new OS with its new features is always exciting. My computer is now running on Sonoma 14, and my smartphone has been updated to iOS 17. I’ve noticed that when the latest OS is installed on older devices, they tend to run slower than before. This might also be part of Apple’s strategy. Kurumi is spending another day in the cool room today. The scorching heat has returned, and he couldn’t go outside.

クルミくんは眠い時に吠えて愚図ります。私たちが食事をしている時でもお構いなしです。そこで、キャリーに入ってもらったら、すぐに眠ってしまいました。クルミくんは寂しがりやなのか、何かに囲まれていると安心するようです。これでこれからは静かに食事を楽しむことができそうです。

Kurumi tends to bark and whine when he’s sleepy, and he doesn’t seem to care even when we’re having a meal. However, as soon as we put him in his carrier, he fell asleep right away. It seems like Kurumi is a bit of a lonely soul and feels more secure when he’s surrounded by something. With this, it looks like we’ll be able to enjoy our meals in peace from now on.

家から歩いて行ける距離に T 大学のキャンパスがあります。今日から後期の授業に参加できることになりました。火曜の 3 時限目、英語翻訳の講義に市民枠で入りました。学生に混じって、私を含め 3 人の市民がいました。今日は初回でしたからこれからの進め方が中心に講義されましたが、これから翻訳の奥深さを知ることになります。来週に向けて予習する必要もあり、少し忙しくなります。新しいことを新しい人たちと行えることに感謝します。帰宅したらクルミくんは昼寝をしています。彼とはこの後、遊んであげましょう。

There is a T University campus within walking distance from my house. Starting today, I’ll be attending the second semester classes. I’ve enrolled in the citizen slot for the Tuesday third period, English translation lecture. There were three of us citizens, including myself, among the students. Today was the first session, so the focus was on how the course will proceed, but I’m looking forward to delving into the depth of translation in the future. I’ll also need to do some preparation for next week, so it’s going to get a bit busy. I’m grateful that I can learn new things with new people. When I get back home, Kurumi is taking a nap. I’ll play with him later.
