兄と二人で富山まで日帰りで行ってきました。母の実家にいらっしゃる親戚の方々と久しぶりにお会いしてきました。皆さんもお元気そうでしたが、流石に年の流れを感じさせます。過疎化も進むなかで今後の商売を考える身近な親戚の声を聞いて、兄と私は軽率な提案はできずに難しさを知らされました。暖冬故に商売が思うようにいかない現実も知らせています。皆さんの事を思って帰宅の途につきました。クルミくんは帰宅したら既に眠っていました。

My brother and I took a day trip to Toyama. We met with relatives at my mother’s family home for the first time in a very long time. Everyone seemed to be in good health, but I could feel the passing of the years. Hearing the voices of the relatives close to us thinking about future business amidst the depopulation, my brother and I were informed of the difficulty, not being able to make any rash suggestions. We have also been informed of the reality that business is not going as smoothly as we would like due to the warm winter. I thought all of them as I headed home. Kurumi was already sleeping when I got home.

クルミくんは今日も元気です。お腹を空かせてしまうのが早いようです。今朝は 5 時から起き出して食べ物をせがんでいました。食欲があることは良いことだと思います。右足は少しずつですが、踏ん張れるようになってきています。ソファーから飛び降りることもできるので、痛みはないようです。

Kurumi is doing well today. He seems to get hungry very quickly. This morning, he woke up at 5:00 a.m. and was begging for food. I think it is good that he has an appetite. He is able to stand on his right leg little by little. He can even jump off the sofa, so there seems to be no pain.

この銀杏並木は 10 年前に初めて訪れた時から変わっていません。今朝は久しぶりにこの道を歩いて会社まで行きました。仕事を終えて駅まで帰る時はイチョウの落ち葉で遊ぶ子供たちを見ることができました。この先もこの銀杏並木は四季を楽しませてくれることでしょう。クルミくんは私が帰宅すると熟睡中でした。今日も忘年会で遅くに帰宅しました。

This row of gingko trees has not changed since my first visit 10 years ago. This morning I walked along this path to work for the first time in a while. When I walked back to the station after work, I could see children playing with the fallen leaves of the gingko trees. I am sure that this row of gingko trees will continue to delight us with its four seasons. Kurumi was sound asleep when I came home. I came home late from a year-end party today.

この仲間が集まったのは 4 年ぶりでした。コロナウィルスの感染が始まろうとしていた冬に会って以来となります。8 人で忘年会を持つことができました。聞けば闘病で苦労した仲間もいて、時間の経過の速さに驚きます。一人は遠い地にいるので来ることができませんでした。来年もまた会えることを願って別れました。今夜は帰宅途中にラーメンを食べてきました。寒くなった夜、熱いスープに身体を温められました。クルミくんは今日も元気にしています。早朝から起きたので私は寝不足の一日でした。

It had been four years since this group had met. It was the first time since the winter when the coronavirus infection was about to start. 8 of us were able to have a year-end party. I was surprised at how quickly the time passed. One of them was unable to come to the party because he was in a distant place. We parted, hoping to see each other again next year. Tonight I had ramen noodle on my way home. The hot soup warmed me up on a cold night. Kurumi is doing well today. I had a sleepless day because I got up early in the morning with Kurumi.

信号機の電球が LED に変わって何年が経つか忘れてしまいましたが、良く見ると光っていない LED が目立つようになってきました。複数の小さな LED が集まっています。今後、これらの交換作業が始まることでしょう。今夜は今年 1 回目の忘年会でした。鮨屋の小上がりで時を忘れて会話が弾みました。帰宅途中、屋台のラーメンに誘われそうになりましたが、我慢して帰宅、風呂で身体を温めることにしました。クルミくんは今日も相変わらず元気です。すこしずつおもちゃで遊ぶことを始めました。

I forget how long it has been since traffic light bulbs were replaced by LEDs, but if I look closely, I can see some LEDs that are not glowing. There are several small LEDs clustered together. It will probably start replacing them in the future. Tonight was the first year-end party for this year. We had a great conversation at a small sushi restaurant, forgetting about the time. On the way home, I was almost tempted to try ramen from a street vendor, but I decided to resist and go home to warm myself in the bath. Kurumi is as energetic as ever today. He has started to play with his toys a little more.

3 ヶ月続いた大学での翻訳講義の授業が今日で終わりました。毎週火曜日の午後、新しい単語を覚え、翻訳理論を学び、さらには実技を通じて翻訳の技術を学びました。勉強をする機会が持てたことに感謝しています。私たちと一緒に時間を過ごしてくれた学生に私の経験談を話す機会を K 先生にいただきました。長い会社生活からのヒントが学生の今後に役立ってくれることを願っています。クルミくんは昼過ぎから暖かくなり始めたリビングでのんびりとしていました。右足はまだ不自由にしています。

Today marks the end of a three-month long translation course at the university. Every Tuesday afternoon, I learned new vocabulary, studied translation theory, and even learned translation skills through practical exercises. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to study at the school. I am grateful to Prof. K for giving me the opportunity to talk about my experiences with the students who spent time with us. I hope that my tips from my long corporate life will be useful for the students in the future. Kurumi was relaxing in the living room, which began to warm up in the afternoon. His right leg is still crippled.

クルミくんが「痛い！」というような吠え方をして私たちは目を覚ましました。ベッドの中で足がもつれたのかも知れません。右足は痛みを感じているようです。今日はそれ以来、右足をとても庇っています。また、良く眠っています。クルミくんが話せたら良かったのですが、痛みを持っているのかもわからずにヤキモキしています。昨日から腎臓の処方食を与え始めています。

We were awakened by Kurumi’s yelping, as if saying, ‘It hurts!’ It’s possible that his legs got tangled in the bed. It seems like his right leg is in pain. Since then, he has been favoring his right leg a lot. Also, he sleeps a lot. It would be good if Kurumi could talk, but we are anxious not knowing whether he is in pain or not. Starting from yesterday, we have been giving him prescription kidney food.

今日も暖かい一日でした。この機会にリビングの窓ガラスを掃除しました。外側はハシゴを使う高所作業になります。ガラスはなかなか綺麗になりません。少し磨き残しがあると気になってしまいます。終わった時は汗をかいていました。太陽の暖かさに感謝です。クルミくんはそんな暖かいリビングで気持ちよさそうに昼寝していました。

It was another warm day. I took the opportunity to clean the living room windows. The outside is an elevated job using a ladder. Glass is not easy to clean. If there is a little polish left, it bothers me. I was sweating when I finished the job. Thanks to the warmth of the sun. Kurumi was taking a nice nap in the warm living room.

クルミくんの右足のことを心配しています。でも、今日は右足を少しずつ使うようになったクルミくんを見て励ましています。顔を右足で掻く仕草をしました。そして、ソファーに飛び乗ろうとしています。痛みは無いようなのですが、どうしても力が入らないのでしょう。このような経験を積み重ねて元気になってくれることを願っています。今日も暖かな一日でした。この暖かさを利用して家の掃除をしています。明日も天気が良さそうなので窓拭きをしたいと思います。

We are worried about Kurumi’s right leg. But today, I am encouraged to see Kurumi gradually using his right leg. He made a gesture of scratching his face with his right leg. And he is trying to jump on the sofa. He seems to be in no pain, but I guess he just can’t get enough strength. I hope that he will get better after accumulating experiences like this. It was another warm day. I am taking this chance of this warmth to clean the house. The weather looks good again tomorrow, so I would like to clean the windows.

会社からの帰り道、郵便局に立ち寄って年賀状を購入しました。年々、喪中の連絡が多くなっていて、年賀状を送る枚数が減っています。また、年賀状のやり取りを遠慮する傾向にもあります。もうしばらくは年に一度だけの挨拶となってしまいますが、年賀状を出そうと思います。今月から新しいプロジェクトが始まり、会社に行く回数が多くなりました。通勤には体力を使います。クルミくんとも夜しか会えないのが少し残念です。今日も夕食の後、クルミくんと少しだけ遊ぶ時間が持てました。

On my way home from work, I stopped by the post office to purchase New Year’s cards. Every year, I receive more and more mourning notices, and the number of New Year’s cards I send is decreasing. There is also a tendency to refrain from sending and receiving New Year’s cards. I will send out New Year’s greeting cards for a while longer, although it will be only once a year. A new project started this month, and I have to go to the office more often. Commuting takes a lot of energy. I am a little disappointed that I can only see Kurumi at night. After dinner today, I was able to spend a little time playing with Kurumi.
