桜が咲き出し、我が家の庭の花々も綺麗に咲き出しました。水仙、クリスマスローズ、ムスカリはいつもの場所に球根が植えてあります。近くの園芸店で花を購入、寄せ植えも綺麗にできました。例年よりも暖かかった冬が終わり、この先は暖かい日が続くことでしょう。しかし、コロナウィルスによる新型肺炎の感染は広がりを衰えていません。経済にも大きな影響を与えています。一刻も早く、正常に戻ることを願っています。

車を運転しながらスマホのナビゲーションに頼ることが多くなりました。搭載されているナビゲーションもあるのですが、地図情報が古くなってしまいます。スマホならば比較的新しい情報を活用することが可能です。近い将来、きっとそんな機能が搭載される車ができてくることでしょう。ひょっとしてもうあるのかも知れません。自動車用品店でスマホのホルダーを探したのですが、どれもしっくりきません。そこでエアコンの吹き出し口に取り付けるタイプを分解して取り付けてみました。パネルに M6 ネジを通す穴を開ける必要がありましたが、これで快適に地図情報を見ることができます。

我が家の薪ストーブが活躍して 7 年が経過しました。バーモント社のアンコールというモデルです。運転温度は 250℃前後なのですが、気を抜いていると 300℃を越えてしまうことがあります。このモデルには二次燃焼装置が付いていて、薪をゆっくりと燃やすことができます。ゆらゆらと燃える炎を見ることができてとても良いものです。二次燃焼装置には触媒を使ったフィルターがあり、定期的に保守をする必要があります。今回も取り出して灰を取り去る作業をしました。ついでにガスケットの交換を行っています。触媒の効果が薄れているので、次回はフィルターを交換してやりましょう。

とても悲しい知らせを受けました。一緒に長年開発の現場で一緒だった同僚が癌からくる病気で亡くなりました。製品開発を通じてお互いに切磋琢磨する仲でした。退社してからはお互いに会う機会はありませんでしたが、年賀状を交換させていただきました。ご家族の笑顔を使った年賀状を毎年楽しみにしていましたが、今年のそれが最後となりました。冥福を祈ります。

海外で働くチームと一緒にあるプロジェクトを進めてきています。開始から 10 年になる今年、五角形の箸を作ってみなさんにプレゼントしました。今年は多くのことに成功し、大きく前進することになります。それを祈願して五角形にしてみました。合格との語呂は伝わったでしょうか。でも、早速使っていただいている写真が送られてきてとても嬉しくなりました。

5 年前から育てている睡蓮ですが、株が増えてきてこれまでの鉢では狭くなってしまいました。今回は直に睡蓮鉢に植え替えることとして作業をしました。まず金魚たちを避難させ、睡蓮鉢から根っこで固まった土を全て取り出します。慎重に株を分けていきます。古くなった根っこは切り取ります。細かい株は捨てることとして、5 つの株を植えていきます。土は赤玉土、2, 3 日は水が落ち着くまで待ちます。その後、金魚たちに入ってもらいましょう。
