この年末年始も快晴の天気が続きました。しかしながら日本では新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大が止まりません。空は晴れていますが、気持ちは沈んでしまいます。今週にも非常事態宣言が発出されることになります。昨年の春に出された非常事態宣言とは少し条件が変わるようですが、東京では連日1,000人を超える新規患者が発生しています。我が家でも今年の初詣は諦めました。なるべく家にいるようにしています。29個目となった枡はオンラインで入手することができましたが、来年は初詣の場で樽酒をいただきたいと願います。

この薪ストーブを使って 8 年が経過しました。一度、プロの手でメンテナンスしていただくこととしました。2 人で 3 時間、見ていて気持ち良い仕事をしていただきました。煤で真っ黒だった箇所も綺麗になっています。二次燃焼用の触媒フィルターも交換してもらいました。8 年も経っているとは信じられない、とても綺麗に使っていますね、と言われて少し気分が良くなりました。ちょうど空になった薪棚に 2 立米の A 級薪を積んでもらい、これでこの冬は安心です。

2012年から使用してきたタイヤ、すり減ってしまい交換することとしました。私が住む地域では雪は年に数回しか降らず、ウィンタースポーツに出かけるわけでもなく、冬用のタイヤは保険のようなものです。しかし、雪が降ると坂道が多いのでやはり冬用タイヤは欠かせません。乾燥した道を走ると減りが早いので仕方ないですが、これでまた安心して車を走らせることができます。テレビでコマーシャルしていますが、ちゃんとしたタイヤは安心感を与えてくれます。

家具の飾り棚に照明を取り付けていたのですが、電池式だったので交換が億劫で最近は光がありませんでした。単 4 乾電池 3 本を使用しますから、その電源に USB 電源を利用することとしました。電池ケースに入る木の丸棒を乾電池の代わりとし、両端に取り付けた電極に USB 充電器から給電してやります。こうすることで電池交換の手間が省けます。人が近寄ると点灯するようになっていて、また、この棚に光が戻ってきました。

今年はクリスマスの装飾をすることにしました。ツリーを飾り、リースを付けて、庭のオリーブの木に電飾をつけました。コロナ禍で働いている医療従者の方々の苦労は計り知れません。感染にかからないことが唯一の手助けだと思っています。光り輝くツリーを見ていると幸せになってきます。ワクチンの開発は進んでいるようですが、私たちに接種されるまではまだまだ時間がかかりそうです。これからも安全に過ごせることを願っています。

日本では新規感染者の数が増加しつつあり、第三波と言われています。このような中、旅行をすることに憚れますが、気をつけながら、感染しないように出ています。宿泊施設でもスタッフが気を遣う姿を見るにつけ、利用して協力することも大切だと考えています。しかし、旅をしてみると、感染予防をしない人を見ることがあります。マスク、手洗い、手指消毒、きちんと予防をしながらこれからも可能な限り、旅をしてみたいと思います。

今日は蓼科を起点にして清里までドライブしました。八ヶ岳の南側を走る道路は空いていて快適です。今日も暖かな日でしたが、標高が高い清里は肌寒く、コートが必要でした。いつものお店でオーナーと会話。お互いに久しぶりの再会を楽しむことができました。

昨日から 2 泊の旅行で蓼科に来ています。気温が高い週となりました。紅葉が見頃で綺麗です。楓と白樺のコントラストが青い空に映えていました。

We’ve been to Tateshina for a two night trip since yesterday. It was a warm week. The autumn leaves are in full bloom and beautiful. The contrast between Kaede and the birch was shining in the blue sky.
