来月 70 歳になる私たち夫婦にとって、時々、将来の姿を考えさせられています。人生の終焉を迎える日は遠くありませんが、それがどのくらい先になるのか知る由もありません。そんな私たちに郵送で資料が送られてきました。まだ必要ないと思っていてもすぐにその時がくるのかも知れません。クルミくんはそんな心配をしなくても良いので幸せです。

For my wife and I, who will turn 70 next month, we are sometimes forced to contemplate what the future holds. The day when we reach the end of our lives is not far away, but we have no way of knowing how long it will be. Then we receive materials in the mail. Even if we think we don’t need them yet, the time may come soon. Kurumi is happy because he doesn’t have to worry about that.

今日の午後、可愛らしいお客様が来ました。クルミくんのおもちゃで遊んでいるとクルミくんも遊び始めました。クルミくんは誰かと一緒でないとおもちゃで遊ばなくなってしまいました。私は長編本を聴いています。上巻は朗読で 10 時間ですが、時間のある時に少しずつ聴いているので、もう直ぐ終わってしまいます。この下巻も朗読で聴いてみようと思います。

We had a lovely visitor this afternoon. She was playing with Kurumi’s toys and Kurumi started playing with her too. Kurumi no longer plays with his toys unless he is with someone else. I am listening to a full-length book. The first volume is 10 hours long, but I listen to it little by little whenever I have time, so it will soon be finished. I am trying to listen to the second volume as well.

毎日、本を読むのですが、Audible というアプリで本を聴くことを始めてみました。新しい本も聴けるようになっています。月の会費は 1,500 円なので、本にすると 2,3 冊くらいになります。朗読を聴くようにしたら、少しの時間でも聴けるので便利です。でも、そして、寝る時はタイマーで止めることもできます。最初の 2 ヶ月は無料で利用できます。しばらく試してみます。クルミくんはとても正確な体内時計を持っているようです。昼寝で熟睡していても食事の時間になると起きてきて騒ぎ始めます。今日も元気にしています。

I read books every day and I have started listening to books on an app called Audible. The monthly membership fee is 1,500 yen, which is about 2 or 3 books. When I start listening to readings, I can listen to them even for a short time, which is convenient. But, and I can also use the timer to stop when I go to bed. The first 2 months are free. I will try it for a while. Kurumi seems to have a very accurate body clock. Even when he is sound asleep from his nap, he wakes up and starts fussing when it is time to eat. He is doing well today.

今日は大学で講義がある日でした。今日も小雨が降っていたので歩いて通学です。守衛所で挨拶をして校内に入ります。広いキャンパスを歩いて校舎まで歩くといい運動になります。連休明けだったためか休む学生も多く、今日の教室には空席が目立ちました。帰宅してからは自宅でリモートワーク、少し忙しい一日でした。

Today was the day I had a lecture at the university. It was raining lightly again today, so I walked to school. I greeted the guard at the guard station and entered the campus. Walking to the school building on the large campus was a good workout. Some students took the day off may be because of the holiday weekend, so there were many empty seats in the classroom today. After returning home, I worked remotely from home, and it was a bit of a busy day.

ゴールデンウィークの連休最後の日は曇り空の一日でした。クルミくんは検診のために獣医に診てもらいました。手術の時に受けた麻酔の影響から腎臓機能の低下が懸念されていて、その検査もお願いすることにしました。小さな身体から 2cc の血液が採取されました。細い血管なので時間がかかってしまいましたが、クルミくんは看護婦に抱かれて静かにしていました。検査結果は郵送で送られてくるそうです。庭の巣箱から囀りが聞こえてくるようになりました。どうやら雛が孵ったようです。親鳥は忙しそうに餌を運んできています。新しい命が生まれたことに興奮してしまいました。

The last day of the Golden Week holiday weekend was a cloudy day. Kurumi was taken to the veterinarian for a checkup. We were concerned that his kidney function was deteriorating due to the anesthesia he received during his surgery, so we decided to ask for a checkup for that as well. Two cc of blood was drawn from his tiny body. It took a long time because of the small blood vessels, but Kurumi was quiet in the nurse’s arms. The results of the test will be sent to us by mail. We began to hear chirping from the nest box in the garden. It seems that the chicks have hatched. The parents are busily bringing food to the nest box. I was so excited about the new life.

気温が上がり、多くの花が咲き出しています。庭のレモンの木には多くの花が咲き始めました。でもレモンの木は自分から摘果して数個のレモンしかできません。近くの畑では豆の花が終わりを迎えています。天気が良かったので、クルミくんを連れて公園近くのドッグカフェに行きました。久しぶりに訪れましたのでクルミくんはこのカフェを忘れていたようです。でもおやつが出てきたら思い出したように喜んで食べていました。クルミくんは少し疲れたのか 4 時の昼食時間になっても眠っています。

Temperatures are rising and many flowers are blooming. Many flowers of the lemon tree in my garden have begun to bloom. But the lemon tree picks itself and produces only a few lemons. In a nearby farm, the beans are coming to the end of their blooms. The weather was fine, so we took Kurumi to a dog café near the park. It had been a while since we had visited there, so Kurumi seemed to have forgotten about this café. However, when a snack was served, he ate it happily as if he remembered there. Kurumi was a little tired and was still sleeping at 4:00 p.m. when it was time for lunch.

日本は今日も祝日です。良い天気に恵まれています。私たちは家の事をして過ごしています。クルミくんものんびりと過ごしています。毎日、私たちがそばにいるので安心しているようです。

Today is another national holiday in Japan. We are blessed with good weather. We are spending our time doing things at home. Kurumi is also taking it easy. He seems to feel safe because we are with him every day.

今日、日本は憲法記念日の祝日です。今日から来週の月曜まで、4 連休となり、行楽にでかける車で渋滞している高速道路がテレビで報道されていました。経済面では円安が進んでいるために海外からの人も多く観光地はオーバーツーリズムの問題を抱えています。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしています。食事の後は眠くなるのか妻の膝の上で眠ってしまいました。

Today is Constitution Day, a national holiday in Japan. It will be a four-day weekend from today until next Monday, and the TV reported on the highways jammed with cars going on vacation. On the economic front, the depreciation of the yen has brought many people from overseas, and tourist spots are facing the problem of overtourism. Kurumi is doing well today. He fell asleep on my wife’s lap, as if he gets sleepy after a meal.

今日はもう少し気温が上がるかと思ったのですが、涼しい日となりました。雲が多かったために日差しも強く感じる時間が短かったようです。昼は妻とピザレストランに行くことにしました。ここでは 2 種類のピザを半分づつ調理してくれます。クルミくんは今日も私たちに甘えていました。

Today turned out to be a cooler day, although we thought the temperature would be a bit warmer. There were a lot of clouds, so the sun felt strong for a shorter period of time. For lunch my wife and I decided to go to a pizza restaurant. Here they cook two kinds of pizzas, half each. Kurumi was spoiling us again today.

4 年前の検診で見つかった小さな動脈瘤の経過観察を続けてきました。今日の検査では患部の変化は無いようで安心しました。3 ヶ月毎、主治医に診てもらっています。もう少し鮮明に描写できる MR を導入してもらいたいと言っておきました。病院からの帰りに車の充電をしたのですが、少し気になる現象が出ました。明日、違う充電スタンドで試してみます。クルミくんは少し気温が低いためかベッドの中で昼寝をしています。

I have continued to follow up on a small aneurysm that was found during a checkup 4 years ago. I have been seeing my doctor every three months. I told her that I would like the hospital to install an MR scanner that can depict the lesion a little more clearly. I charged my car on the way home from the hospital, but there was a slightly worrisome phenomenon. I will try a different charging station tomorrow. Kurumi is taking a nap in bed, probably because of the slightly cooler temperature.
