今日は豪雨の一日となる覚悟をしていたのですが、台風 13 号は日本の南沿岸で足踏みを始めてしまいました。最新の予報では台風 13 号は熱帯低気圧に弱まって、明日、近づいてくるようです。明日、シンガポールから来日する息子の便に影響が出ないことを願っています。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んでいました。クルミくんは私が側にいないと心配なようです。一緒に遊んで、疲れると近くにいることを確認して眠ってしまいます。

I had prepared myself for a day of heavy rain today, but Typhoon 13 has stalled along the southern coast of Japan. According to the latest forecast, Typhoon 13 is expected to weaken into a tropical depression and approach tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t affect my son’s flight from Singapore to Japan tomorrow. Kurumi was playing energetically today as well. It seems he gets worried when I’m not around. We play together, and when he gets tired, he makes sure I’m nearby before falling asleep.

台風 13 号が接近しています。明日は大雨の一日になりそうです。今回の台風は風よりも雨が心配されています。今日はまだ台風の影響が無いので、葡萄農家を訪れることにしました。毎年、案内状をもらっているこの農家に今年も行くことができました。幸い、強い日差しは無かったのでクルミくんも疲れることなく楽しめたと思います。昼食に初めて訪れたカフェでは美味しい料理とオーナーの人柄に楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。妻がスマホで検索したこのカフェはお気に入りに登録しました。

Typhoon 13 is approaching. Tomorrow looks like it will be a day of heavy rain. This time, the typhoon is more of a concern for rain rather than wind. Since there is still no impact from the typhoon today, I decided to visit a grape farm. We were able to go there this year as well, thanks to the annual invitation. Fortunately, there was no strong sunlight, so I think Kurumi enjoyed it without getting tired. At a cafe we visited for the first time for lunch, we had a great time with delicious food and the owner’s personality. My wife searched for this cafe on her smartphone and added it to our favorites.

寝室のドアストッパーをマグネット式に交換してみました。これまでのストッパーは腰を屈めて、金具を操作する必要がありました。今度のマグネット式は近づくとカチッとマグネットが鉄片を吸い付けてくれるので体の姿勢はそのままでいいので助かります。閉める時はマグネット部がスライドするので軽い力で外れます。便利な物に感謝です。クルミくんは食事の時間が近くなるとちゃんと起きて催促します。まるで時計がクルミくんの体に埋め込まれているようです。

I tried replacing the bedroom door stopper with a magnetic one. The previous stopper required me to bend down and manipulate the hardware. This new magnetic one clicks into place when it gets close, thanks to the magnet attracting the metal piece, so I don’t have to change my body posture, which is really convenient. When closing the door, the magnetic part slides, making it easy to detach with a light force. I’m grateful for such a handy item. As for Kurumi, he wakes up promptly when it’s close to mealtime, as if there’s a clock embedded in his body.

昨日は気温が少し低めだったのですが、今日はまた 35℃ の猛暑がやってきました。そして台風がまた新たに発生して、今週の後半に近づいてきそうです。もう暑い夏にはうんざりしてきました。愛車の具合が悪くなり、今日また入庫することになってしまいました。今回は替えの車を用意していただきました。久しぶりにガソリンエンジンの車に乗ったのですが、エンジンの音が新鮮に感じられました。しかし、正直に言って私は電気自動車のほうが好きです。クルミくんは今日も家の中で私たちと過ごしていました。よく食べてよく遊んでそして、よく眠っています。

Yesterday, the temperature was a bit cooler, but today the scorching heat has returned at 35°C. Additionally, a new typhoon has formed, and it seems to be approaching later in the week. I’m getting tired of this hot summer already. My car had some issues and had to be brought in for maintenance again today. This time, they provided a replacement car for me. It’s been a while since I’ve driven a gasoline engine car, and the sound of the engine feels surprisingly fresh. However, to be honest, I prefer electric cars. Kurumi is spending the day with us indoors again today. He eats well, plays a lot, and sleeps soundly.”

午後のお茶を近くのカフェで妻と楽しみました。かき氷がメニューにあったので注文してしまいました。今年初のかき氷です。食べていても頭が痛くなることはありません。氷の温度を 0 ℃近くにしているのでしょう。ふわっとした氷の中には生クリームが入っていて、いちごのシロップと混ぜて美味しくいただきました。
クルミくんは月検診の日でした。獣医さんに胸の音を聞いてもらい、爪を切ってもらい、今日もクルミくんは少し疲れたようです。毎月、獣医さんに診てもらえることに感謝しています。

I enjoyed afternoon tea with my wife at a nearby café. They had shaved ice on the menu, so we couldn’t resist ordering it. It was our first shaved ice of the year. Surprisingly, it didn’t give us brain freeze, probably because they kept the ice temperature close to 0°C. The fluffy ice was topped with whipped cream and mixed with strawberry syrup, making it delicious. It was a treat!
Today was also Kurumi’s monthly check-up at the vet. The vet listened to his chest, trimmed his nails, and Kurumi seems a bit tired again today. We’re grateful that he can get checked by the vet every month.”

妻と一緒に友人の Y-san のお宅を訪ねました。先週、奥様を亡くされた Y-San に会って、故奥様の遺影を前にお線香をあげてきました。今日の朝刊に「安楽死」についての記事がありました。人間はいつかその命を終えます。その終わりに苦しまないことを願っています。世界では「安楽死」を積極的に受け入れる国が増えてきています。医療が発達した側面かも知れませんが、延命に苦しむ患者が増えていることも事実と聞きます。私より若い Y-San がこれからも元気に過ごされることを祈っています。
クルミくんは少し長い時間家で私たちの帰りを待っていたので機嫌が悪い様子でした。でも食事をして少しおもちゃで遊んだら眠りについてしまいました。

I visited our friend Y-san’s house with my wife. Last week, we met Y-san, who had lost his wife, and offered incense in front of her portrait. In today’s morning paper, there was an article about ‘euthanasia.’ Humans will eventually come to the end of their lives, and I hope they won’t suffer at the end. In the world, there are increasing numbers of countries actively accepting ‘euthanasia.’ It may be due to advances in medical care, but I also hear that there is an increase in patients suffering from the prolongation of life. I pray that Y-san, who is younger than me, continues to live a healthy life.
Kurumi was a bit upset because he had been waiting for us at home for a long time, but after having a meal and playing with his toys for a while, he fell asleep.

アスリートが活躍している姿を見ていると感動して鳥肌が立ちます。今週はバスケットボールの試合が沖縄で行われています。次回、パリで開催されるオリンピックの参加をかけて、今夜はカーべボルテという国のチームと日本のチームが戦っています。背の高い相手選手に負けない活躍をしています。選手たちにとって観客の声援が大きな原動力になると聞きました。私はテレビの画面を通じて声援を送ることにします。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んで、そしてよく眠っています。彼は私たちが側にいると安心してよく眠ります。

I get goosebumps when I watch athletes perform at their best. This week, there’s a basketball game taking place in Okinawa. Tonight, the team from the country called Carvervolte is competing against the Japanese team, with a chance to qualify for the upcoming Olympics in Paris. They are delivering outstanding performances, not letting the taller opponents get the best of them. I’ve heard that the cheers of the audience are a major source of motivation for the players. I’ve decided to send my support through the TV screen. As for Kurumi, he’s playing and sleeping energetically as always today. He sleeps soundly when we’re by his side, and it brings him comfort.

右腕に針が刺された時、いつもよりも痛く感じました。特定患者様からの依頼で献血に行きました。「痛くありませんか？てに痺れは感じませんか？」と看護師は聞きましたが、「はい、大丈夫です。」と答えてしまいます。今日の予定は患者様も待っていることなので、ここで止められないと考えてしまいます。およそ 1 時間かけて 4 サイクルの処置が終わりました。「今日はいつもよりも少し痛かったです。」と針を抜いてくれた看護師に話したら、「痛かったら言ってください。」と言われてしまいました。痛さにそのスケールは無く、この判断は難しいです。今日も無事に終わって安心しました。昨夜は少し曇っていて 13 年ぶりのスーパーブルームーンをはっきりと見ることができませんでした。今日は昼間から快晴です。今夜は少し遠ざかってしまったかも知れませんが、満月を見ることができるでしょう。クルミくんは今日も元気に過ごしていました。

When the needle pierced my right arm, I felt more pain than usual. I had gone to donate blood at the request of a specific patient. The nurse asked, “Doesn’t it hurt? Do you not feel any numbness in your hand?” But I replied, “Yes, I’m fine.” Since the patient was also waiting for today’s schedule, I thought I couldn’t stop here. After about an hour, four cycles of treatment were completed. When I told the nurse who had removed the needle, “It was a bit more painful today,” she said, “If it hurts, please let us know.” The pain wasn’t on a scale that I could easily judge. Today ended safely as well. Last night, it was a bit cloudy, and I couldn’t clearly see the Super Blue Moon for the first time in 13 years. Today is clear from daytime. Tonight, it may have moved a little farther away, but I should be able to see the full moon. Kurumi was also lively today.

散歩をしていると秋の花が見られるようになりました。今日も昼間は暑く 35℃まで気温があがりましたが、夕方は少し涼しい風が吹いています。去年の 5 月から乗っている車の充電ポートが開かなくなってしまい、ディーラーに入庫してきました。サービス員は他の車でも同じ現象が発生していると言っていました。設計の問題かも知れません。応急処置をしてもらいテープで止めていました。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んでいました。

As I take a walk, I’m now able to see autumn flowers. Today, even though the daytime temperature rose to a hot 35°C, there’s a slightly cooler breeze blowing in the evening. The charging port of the car I’ve been using since last May stopped opening, so I brought it to the dealer for maintenance. The service personnel said the same issue has occurred in other cars as well. It might be a design problem. They provided a temporary fix and secured it with tape. As for Kurumi, he was also energetically playing today.

定期診断で訪れた朝の待合室は誰もいませんでした。朝一番での診察を予約していました。病院というと待たされる、という印象があります。そこで私はなるべく早い時間に診察をお願いしています。それでも会計の窓口では 20 分待つことになりました。今日の診察結果も良好です。また 3 ヶ月後に予約を入れてきました。もちろん朝一番です。クルミくんがまだ寝ている間に家を出ました。そして、帰宅したらまたクルミくんは眠っています。最近、食事時間の前後を除くとほとんど眠っているクルミくんです。

The morning waiting room I visited for my regular check-up was empty. I had reserved the first appointment of the day. When you think of hospitals, you often expect to wait. So, I always try to schedule my appointments as early as possible. Still, I ended up waiting for 20 minutes at the reception desk. Today’s examination results are also positive. I’ve made another appointment for three months from now. Of course, it’s for the first appointment slot. I left the house while Kurumi was still asleep. And when I returned home, Kurumi was asleep again. Lately, apart from around meal times, he has been sleeping most of the time.
