北京で開催されている冬季オリンピックは今日で終わります。日本は記録的なメダルの獲得数を実現しました。今日の朝はカーリング女子の決勝戦がありました。対戦相手はイギリスです。残念ながら負けてしまいましたが、銀メダルをもらっています。選手のみなさんからは感動の日々をいただくことができました。クルミは今日も穏やかに過ごすことができています。天気が悪いので庭に出ることはできませんでした。

The Winter Olympics in Beijing end today. Japan has achieved a record number of medals. There was a curling women’s final match this morning. The opponent is England. Unfortunately they lost the game, but got a silver medal. I was impressed by the players. Kurumi is still calm today. he couldn’t go out to the garden because of the bad weather.

今日は夕方から雨の予報です。少し早い時間から薪ストーブに火を入れました。クルミは寝不足だったようで少し元気がありません。午前中はずっと眠っていました。午後はおもちゃで遊んでいました。薪ストーブの暖かさに包まれると私たちも眠くなってしまいます。私は犬笛を買ってみました。クルミは高い音に少し反応します。少しずつ、お互いにコミュニケーションの取り方を学んでみようと思います。

Today will be raining from the evening by the forecast. I lit the wood stove a little earlier. Kurumi seems to have been short of sleep last night and is little sick. He slept all morning. He was playing with toys in the afternoon. The warmth of a wood stove makes us sleepy too. I bought a dog whistle. Kurumi reacts a little to high notes. Little by little, I will learn how to communicate with each other.

耳が聞こえなくなったクルミは慣れてきたのか、とても元気になっています。でも、私たちが生活している音が聞こえないので、お互いに少し違和感を感じているのは事実です。なるべくクルミと接するようにしていて、彼の安心感を高めようとしています。また、急に動いて彼の視界に入らないように心がけています。今日も庭に出たり、おもちゃで遊んだり、元気にしていました。私は明け方に散歩をして少しリラックスすることもできました。

Kurumi is getting used to it with his year trouble, and he looks be feeling very well. But it’s true that we feel a little uncomfortable with each other because he can’t hear the sounds we live in. I try to get in touch with him as much as possible to increase his sense of security. I also try not to move suddenly and get into his sight. He went out to the garden, played with toys, and was fine today. I could also take a walk at dawn and relax a little.

日曜の朝、クルミはとても痛がった吠え方をしました。月曜日と水曜日に獣医さんを訪れて痛がった原因がはっきりしました。そして、この数日、クルミは音に反応しなかったのですが、おそらくその原因も頚椎と神経からくるものと思われます。読んでもクルミは振り返ってくれませんが、これからは彼の症状を注意深く見ながら生活していきます。聴覚が戻ることがあるのならと思い、いろいろな音で試しています。高音の音は少し聞こえるようです。クルミもそんな生活に慣れてきたのか、今日は比較的元気でした。おもちゃで遊んで、庭にも出ることができました。午後はドッグカフェで一緒に時間を過ごすことができました。

On Sunday morning, Kurumi barked very painfully. he visited the vet on Monday and Wednesday to find out what caused the pain. And for the last few days, he hasn’t responded to the sound, probably because of the cervical spine and nerves. Even if I called him, Kurumi doesn’t look back, but from now on, I will live while carefully watching his symptoms. I’m trying various sounds, hoping that his hearing may return. It seems that he can hear a little high-pitched sound. Perhaps Kurumi has become accustomed to such a life, and he was relatively fine today. He was able to play with toys and go out to the garden. We were able to spend the afternoon together at the dog cafe.

昨夜はあまり良く眠れない夜となってしまいました。少し寝ては起きてしまいました。今日、獣医さんでレントゲン検査をしてもらい、首の骨に異常が確認されました。頚椎狭窄症と診断されています。この犬種にはよくある症状とのことです。クルミも 12 歳を過ぎて元気が無くなってきたのにはこの病気が潜んでいたからかも知れません。残念ながら、治すことはできないので、少しでも痛みを和らげることと、痛くなるような姿勢を避けるしかありません。少し長引くかも知れませんが、クルミをのんびりさせる生活をしていきます。今日は痛み止めを処方していただきました。

Last night was a night when he couldn’t sleep very well. Kurumi slept a little and got up. Today, he had a veterinarian does an X-ray diagnose and found an abnormality in his neck bone. He has been diagnosed with cervical stenosis. It is a common symptom for this type of dogs. Kurumi may have lost his energy after the age of 12 because of this illness. Unfortunately, it cannot be cured, so there is no choice but to relieve the pain and avoid a painful posture. It may take a little longer, but we will live a leisurely life with Kurumi. He had his prescribe a painkiller today.

クルミは今日も元気がありません。食欲はあって、よく食べるのですが、直ぐにソファーの上で眠ってしまいます。時々水を飲みに起きるのですが、歩き方もなんとなくゆっくりしています。昨日から急にこのような症状が出ていて心配しています。寒さが長引いています。早く暖かくなって外で遊べるようになると良いのですが。今週も出かけることは避けて、家の中でクルミと過ごすことにしようと思います。

Kurumi is still sick today. He has an appetite and eats a lot, but soon he falls asleep on the sofa. He sometimes gets up to drink water, but the way he walks is somehow slow. I’m worried that he has suddenly had these symptoms since yesterday. The cold is protracted. I hope it gets warmer soon and he can play outside. I will avoid going out this week and spend time with Kurumi at home.

昨夜遅くから降り出した雪で庭は真っ白でした。今年は雪になる日が多い冬となっています。クルミは朝から元気がありません。食欲はあるのですが、おもちゃで遊ぶ時間も短く、直ぐに眠ってしまいます。心配になって午後、獣医さんを訪れました。触診していただきなんとも無いとのことで、少し様子を見ることにしました。今朝も早くから起きていたので寝不足なのかも知れません。クルミは老犬の域に入って、このところ眠っている時間がとても長くなりました。

The garden was pure white due to the snow that began to fall late last night. This year is winter with many snowy days. Kurumi has been sick since the morning. He has an appetite, but he has a short time to play with toys, and he falls asleep immediately. I was worried and visited the vet in the afternoon. I heard that there was nothing to palpate, so I decided to take a look. He woke up early this morning, so maybe he is short of sleep. Kurumi has entered the realm of old dogs and has been sleeping for a very long time these days.

今朝から天気は悪くなり、午後には雨が降り出しました。気温次第では今夜からまた雪になりそうです。中国の北京で開催されている冬季オリンピックでは世界各国の選手たちが記録に挑戦しています。でも、ヨーロッパのウクライナではアメリカとロシアの間で今にも戦争が始まろうとしています。オリンピックに参加しているウクライナの選手のコメントが新聞記事に載っていました。私たちは戦争を望みません。この地球の上から戦争が消えることを切に望んでいます。クルミは太陽の暖かさが無いので少し寒そうです。今日も早くから薪ストーブで部屋を温めることにします。

The weather got worse this morning and it started to rain in the afternoon. Depending on the temperature, it will snow again from tonight. At the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, athletes from around the world are challenging the record. But in Ukraine in Europe, a war is about to begin between the United States and Russia. A newspaper article included comments from Ukrainian athletes participating in the Olympics. We don’t want war. I sincerely hope that the war will disappear from the world. Kurumi is feeling little cold because the sun is not warm today. I will warm the room with a wood stove from early today.

連休の週末、私と妻はテニススクールで運動をして汗を流してきました。80 分のレッスンですが、終わる頃になるともう少し続けていたくなります。クルミとの時間も多く持つことができました。お気に入りのおもちゃで遊んだり、庭に出て残った雪を舐めてみたり、今日も太陽の暖かさに包まれて穏やかな日を過ごすことができました。

On 3 days weekends with national holiday, my wife and I have been exercising and sweating at the tennis school. It’s an 80-minute lesson, but by the end of the lesson, I want to continue a little longer. I was able to have a lot of time with Kurumi. Playing with his favorite toys, licking the snow left in the garden, and having a peaceful day surrounded by the warmth of the sun.

地域連絡網の電話で通学路となっている坂道の雪かきがあるので集まるように連絡を受けました。連絡網は次々と隣の家に伝えるのですが、私はお隣に連絡するのをやめました何故なら、お年寄りが多く、連絡を受けて出られないことを考えたからです。坂道に行ってみると十分な数の人が出ていて安心しました。みなさんで 20 分程度の作業でした。この坂は陽当たりが悪いので凍結すると大変です。今日は天気が良く、少し暖かくなるのできっと溶けて乾くことでしょう。クルミは陽の暖かさに包まれていました。クルミを膝に乗せて私はテレビを見ていました。中国北京で行われている冬季オリンピックでは若いアスリートが素晴らしい成果を出しています。人間の限界が広がる素晴らしさに感動です。

I was contacted by telephone on the local committee network to gather because there was snow shoveling on the slope that is the school route. The contact network tells the next house one after another, but I stopped contacting the neighbor because I thought that there were many elderly people and they wouldn’t work. When I went to the slope, I was relieved that there were enough people. It took about 20 minutes for everyone. This slope has bad sunlight, so it is difficult to freeze it. The weather is fine today and it will be a little warmer so it will surely melt and dry. Kurumi was in the warmth of the sun. I was watching TV with him on my lap. Young athletes have achieved great results at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. I am impressed by the wonderfulness that the limits of human beings are expanding.
