2020 年に買い替えた Mac Book Pro から今年発売された Mac Book Air に買い替えました。M3 という Apple 社が開発した CPU を搭載しています。Apple の環境に最適化されていることもあり、速度がとても早く快適です。最新の WiFi-6 により家の環境でも 1G という速度を得ることができました。早いだけでなく、空冷のファンが無いので動作音も小さくなることが期待できます。4 年の間の進歩を体感しています。今日は義理の妹が訪ねてくれて、妻とひとしきりおしゃべりをしていました。私たち 2 人だけだと会話の時間は少ないのですが、今日はたくさんおしゃべりができて満足したようです。クルミくんはそんななか、昼寝をしていました。

My sister-in-law visited us today and chatted with my wife for a while. We don’t have much time for conversation when it’s just the two of us, but she was happy to have a lot of time for chatting today. Kurumi was taking a nap in the middle of all this.

今日は快晴の朝を迎えることができました。陽の暖かさに触れると安心しますが、直ぐに暑さを感じる季節になることでしょう。薪棚の薪にも陽があたっています。薪は乾燥させることが重要です。伐採してから 2 年程度乾かすのが理想的です。今年は十分な薪を確保することができたので安心です。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んでいました。そして、陽が入るリビングで昼寝をしていました。

杉の木の花粉が飛散し始めています。昨日の雨の後、今日は晴れたので花粉も多く、車のボディーには花粉が付着していて汚らしく見えるので朝から洗車しました。この先、数ヶ月は花粉のシーズンとなります。くしゃみと鼻水で苦しんでいます。晴れた週末は薪の準備ができるので助かります。花粉が舞う中でしたが、焚き付け用の薪を準備することができました。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んでいました。久しぶりの晴れ間、暖かくなったリビングルームでのんびりとしていました。

Although pollen was flying, I was able to prepare firewood for burning. Kurumi was playing energetically today. It was the first sunny day in a while, and he was relaxing in the warm living room.

朝起きると雪がうっすらと庭に積もっていました。桜が咲き始めているのに寒い日が’戻ってきました。今年は長く桜の花を見ることができそうです。沈丁花の花も咲き始めています。クルミくんは年末の手術以来、自分でソファーに上がることができなくなりました。登りたくなると背中を向けて抱き上げるのを待っています。今日も短い時間でしたが一緒に遊ぶことができました。

Since Kurumi’s surgery at the end of last year, he has been unable to climb up on the sofa by himself. Whenever he wants to climb up, he turns his back and waits for me to pick him up. Today, we were able to play with him again, although for a short time.

今日も寒い一日でした。自宅で業務をしていたので、夕方から薪ストーブで暖をとっています。寒暖差が大きな日々となっていて、週末にかけても寒い日が続きそうです。週末は晴れそうなので焚き付け用の薪を作ろうと思います。クルミくんは今日も元気に遊んでいました。疲れると寝て、お腹が空くと起きて、その繰り返しです。

今日は久しぶりに残業時間まで会社の事務所で仕事をしていました。最近は多くの社員が事務所で働くようになって、以前のように多くの人が残業時間になっても働いていました。帰宅するとクルミくんはベッドの中から出迎えてくれました。一緒に遊ぶ時間は持てませんでした。明日、一緒に遊びたいと思います。

Today was the first time in a long time that I worked in the company office until overtime hours. Many employees have been working in the office recently, and as before many were working into overtime hours. When I came home, Kurumi greeted me from his bed. We did not have time to play together. I would like to play with him tomorrow.

S さんからの電話でパグのアンジュちゃんが麻酔から覚めたことを知りました。今日、手術を受けていたので私たちも心配していました。アンジュちゃんも 10 歳を越える老犬なので全身麻酔はリスクがあります。クルミくんの時もそうでしたが、麻酔から覚めるまで心配でたまりません。骨に障がいを受けたようで、この先、少しギブス生活になるようです。クルミくんは年末の手術の後、右足は徐々に回復しています。最近は左足を上げた格好でトイレをすることもできるようになりました。

We learned from a phone call from Mr. S that Ange, a pug, had woken up from anesthesia. She had undergone surgery today, so we were also worried. Ange is also an old dog, over 10 years old, so general anesthesia is risky. As was the case with Kurumi, we were worried until he woke up from the anesthesia. It seems that Ange has suffered a bone injury and will have to live in a cast for a little while. Kurumi’s right leg is gradually recovering after the surgery at the end of last year. Recently, he is able to use the toilet with his left leg up.

近所の T さんからパソコンのサポート要請が入りました。詐欺サイトに入り込んでしまったようで、困っておられました。とりあえずは電源を切ってもらい、パソコンを受け取って診断することにしました。幸いにもウィルスに感染したわけではありませんでした。Windows を最新にアップデートしておきました。インターネットは便利ですが、一歩間違えると怖いサイトに迷い込んでしまうので注意が必要です。クルミくんは定期検診の日、新しい服を着せてもらってご機嫌で獣医さんに診てもらいました。我儘が強くなっている以外は異常なしでした。

I received an urgent computer support request from Ms. T, a neighbor. She seemed to have entered a fraudulent website and was in trouble. I asked her to turn off her computer for the time being, and I decided to receive the computer and diagnose the problem. Fortunately, it was not infected with a virus, and I updated Windows to the latest version. The Internet is convenient, but we need to be careful because if we make a mistake, we can wander into a scary site. Today is the day of Kurumi’s regular checkup. My wife gave him a new outfit and put him in a good mood. There was nothing wrong with him except that he has become more egoistic.

夕方の便で帰国する息子夫婦を空港まで送ってきました。途中、昼食を東京湾が見えるレストランでいただきました。雲ひとつない快晴の空、対岸のビル群も綺麗に見えました。行きは交通渋滞もなく、順調だったのですが、帰りは高速道路上で発生した事故の影響でとても長い時間がかかってしまいました。クルミくんの世話があるので途中のインターで降り、私たちも休憩しながらの帰路となってしまいました。長時間車の中にいたのでクルミくんも疲れてしまいました。また、私たち老夫婦とクルミくんの静かな生活に戻ります。

I drove my son and his wife to the airport for their evening flight back to Singapore. On the way, we had lunch at a restaurant overlooking Tokyo Bay. The sky was clear and cloudless, and the buildings on the other side of the bay looked beautiful. The trip to the airport was smooth with no traffic jams, but the return trip took a very long time due to an accident that occurred on the highway. Since we had to take care of Kurumi, we got off at an interchange on the way home, and we had to take a break as well. We were in the car for a long time and Kurumi got tired. We returned to the quiet life of the old couple and Kurumi.

クルミくんは人の手のひらを舐める癖があります。特に、食事をした後は一生懸命に手のひらを舐めて、疲れると眠ってしまいます。クルミくんが次に何をしたいのかがよくわかります。14 年間、一緒に生活してきました。今夜も一緒に寝て、早朝、トイレに起きるのもいつも通りです。息子夫婦は明日のフライトでシンガポールに帰ります。今回も一緒にのんびりと過ごすことができました。

Kurumi has a habit of licking people’s palms. Especially after eating, he licks the palms of people’s hands very hard, and when he gets tired, he falls asleep. I know exactly what Kurumi wants to do next; we have lived together for 14 years long. Tonight we will sleep together again and wake up early in the morning to go to the bathroom as usual. My son and his wife are flying back to Singapore tomorrow. We had another relaxing time together this time.
