妻は自動車運転免許証の更新に出かけました。その間、クルミと家で待っていましたが、急に気温が高くなったので、エアコンのスイッチを入れてしまいました。昨日は少し涼しい気候でしたが、今日は夏のような暑さです。70 歳以上になると免許証の更新時に講習を受ける必要があります。妻はまだその必要はありません。5 年間有効の免許証を見て、「これで最後かね？」と話していました。

My wife went out to renew her driver’s license. In the meantime, I waited at home with Kurumi, but the temperature suddenly rose, so I turned on the air conditioner. Yesterday was a little cooler, but today it’s hot like summer. If we are over 70 years old, we will need to take a course when we renew the license. My wife doesn’t need it yet. When she saw the driver’s license valid for next five years, she said, “Is this the last time?”

高齢者が運転する自動車による事故が今週も発生してしまいました。82歳のドライバーは駐車場から出た途端に加速し、反対側の歩道にいた60歳代の人を轢き、そのまま建物に当たって停止しました。残念ながら歩行者の命は絶たれてしまいました。自動車に安全装置があったのかは不明ですが、テレビでも宣伝されているメーカーの車でした。急加速を防止する、人の動きを検知して停止する、いまでは実現化している技術なのですが、高齢者はそれを利用したいものです。
台風 3 号が今日発生しました。もう直ぐ梅雨になります。クルミの体調は安定しているのですが、天候の急変が心配です。

An accident involving a car driven by an elderly person has occurred this week again. The 82-year-old driver accelerated as soon as he came out of the parking lot, ran over a man in his 60s on the opposite sidewalk, and hit a building and stopped. Unfortunately, the pedestrian lost his life. It is unknown whether the car had a safety device, but it was a car of a manufacturer that was advertised on TV. Preventing sudden acceleration, detecting human movement and stopping, these are technologies that have already been realized, but the elderly want to use them.
Typhoon No. 3 occurred today. It will be rainy season soon. Kurumi’s physical condition is stable, but I’m worried about sudden changes in the weather.

毎週日曜日の夕方に放送されている世界遺産の番組でエジプトのアブ・シンベル神殿が紹介されていました。この遺跡はアスワンハイダムの建設により水没する危機にありましたが、5 年の歳月をかけて移設されたそうです。1960 年、重機を使わずに人手によって石を切り出したそうです。左から 2 つめの石像は最初の建設当時に発生した地震によって崩れた様子をそのまま保存してあります。このような歴史を知ると、一度はこの目で見たいと思います。エジプトにはこの他にも移設された遺跡があるようです。
今日もクルミと一緒に買い物にでかけてきました。ペット用のカートもあるのですが、今日はクルミのカートを持参して快適に動くことができました。

The Abu Simbel Temple in Egypt was introduced in the world heritage program that is broadcast every Sunday evening. The ruins were in danger of being submerged due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam, but they were relocated over the course of five years. In 1960, the stone was quarried by hand without using heavy machinery. The second stone statue from the left has been preserved as it was when it was first constructed due to the earthquake. Knowing this kind of history, I would like to see it with my own eyes once. It seems that there are other relics in Egypt that have been relocated.
I went shopping with Kurumi again today. There are carts for pets, but today I brought his own cart and was able to move around comfortably.

天気が良くなったので庭仕事をしました。気がつくと両隣でも庭仕事が行われています。昨日まで降り続いた雨のために草花がよく育っています。庭を持つと手入れが大変ですが、季節を感じることができます。この時期は草花が育つ速度が早く、若葉の緑と花の色をたくさん楽しむことができます。芝はまだ伸びてきませんが、また毎週のように芝刈りをする時期がきます。
今日はクルミを連れて買い物に行きました。いつものドッグランでクルミと遊ぶ時間が持てました。

As the weather improved, We did some garden work. When I noticed, garden work was being done on both sides neighbors. The flowers are growing well because of the rain that lasted until yesterday. Having a garden is hard to maintain, but I can feel the seasons. During this period, the plants grow quickly, and we can enjoy the green of the young leaves and the colors of the flowers. The grass hasn’t grown yet, but it’s time to mow the lawn on a weekly basis soon.
We went shopping with Kurumi today. We had time to play with him at the usual dog run.

夜通し降り続いた雨は近くのバイパス道路を土砂で埋める災害を起こしてしまいました。東海道新幹線も午前中は運転を見合わせていました。昨夜は屋根を打ち付ける雨の音が激しかったのですが、私は安心して眠ることができました。雨や風から守ってくれる家があることに感謝します。午後からは天気が回復し、陽の光が眩しい時間となりました。睡蓮鉢で泳ぐ金魚も嬉しそうです。
クルミは耳が聞こえないので雨音がどれだけ大きくても怯えることはありませんでした。

The overnight rain caused a disaster that buried a nearby bypass road with earth and sand. The Tokaido Shinkansen was also suspended in the morning. The sound of rain hitting the roof was loud last night, but I was able to sleep peacefully. I am grateful to have a home that protects us from the rain and wind. The weather improved in the afternoon, and the sunlight was dazzling. The goldfish swimming in the water lily bowl also seems to be happy.
Kurumi is deaf, so no matter how loud the rain was, he wasn’t frightened.

朝から雨の音が続いています。夕方には豪雨となりました。台風から吹き込む湿度の高い南風が前線に当たって各地に大雨を降らせています。今年は発生する台風の数は少ないのですが、大型になる可能性が高いそうです。そして、動きが遅いので、被害が大きくなることが恐れられています。このような日は家の中で静かにしているに限ります。クルミも私たちが一緒だと安心しています。

It’s been raining since morning. It rained heavily in the evening. A humid southerly wind blowing in from the typhoon hits the front and causes heavy rain in various places. The number of typhoons that occur this year is small, but it seems that there is a high possibility that they will be large. And because it moves slowly, it is feared that the damage will be great. On days like this, it’s best to stay quiet at home. Kurumi is also relieved that we are together.

明日予定していた会食をキャンセルしました。今日も時々強い風が吹く一日でした。台風 2 号の影響もあるのか、明日は警報級の豪雨になる予報が出ています。以前なら、無理をしてでも出かけたのですが、最近の異常気象を考えると少し怖くなります。明日は家の中で静かに過ごしたいと思います。今月は妻と私の誕生日があります。気が付けば 69 歳、歳を感じないことはありませんが、いつまでも元気でいたいと思います。
今日もクルミと楽しく過ごしています。

I canceled the dinner scheduled for tomorrow. Today was another day with strong winds. Perhaps due to the impact of Typhoon No. 2, the forecast is for heavy rain that will fall on the warning level tomorrow. In the past, I would have forced myself to go out, but considering the recent abnormal weather, I’m a little scared. I would like to have a quiet time at home tomorrow. My wife and I have birthdays this month. Before I knew it, I would be 69 years old.
I am having a great time with Kurumi today.

通勤途上にある充電ステーションに車を停めていたら米軍の軍用機が飛んできました。ここは基地に近いので低い高度で飛んでいます。騒音も激しく、この地域の住民にとってみると迷惑なことでしょう。政府は今後、軍事予算を拡充するそうですが、世界中から戦争が無くなり、軍事にかける費用も必要無くなる日がくることを望みます。
クルミはお腹が空くと食事を催促して吠えます。今夜は 30 分も前から催促していました。

When I parked my car at a charging station on my way to work, a US military aircraft flew over. They are flying at a low altitude here because it is close to the base. The noise is also very loud, which may be a nuisance for residents of this area. It seems that the government will expand the military budget in the future, but I hope that the day will come when there will be no more wars in the world and the need for military spending will come.
Kurumi barks when he is hungry, prompting him to eat. He has been urging us for 30 minutes tonight.

これまでに趣味で買い揃えた部品を使って、玄関のクローゼットに間接照明を取り付けてみました。Ichigojam というマイコンを自動起動するように設定して一連の LED を制御しています。GRB 全ての色に同じ値を設定したのですが、少し青味が強いようです。プログラムは書き換えできるのですが、このまましばらく使ってみようと思います。
今日は仕事は無い日なので、一日中クルミと一緒に過ごしていました。テレビを一緒に見ているのですが、クルミは映像に反応することはありません。

I installed indirect lighting in the closet at the entrance using the parts I had purchased as a hobby. A microcomputer called Ichigojam is set to automatically start and controls a series of LEDs. I set the same value for all colors of GRB, but it seems a little bluish. The program can be rewritten, but I would like to use it as it is for a while.
I don’t have work today, so I spent the whole day with Kurumi. We are watching TV together, but Kurumi doesn’t react to the screen.

朝から自宅の机に向かって仕事をしていると時間の流れが早く、気づくと夕方になっています。今日は天気が悪く、夕方からは雨が降り始めました。梅雨の時期が近づいています。
最近、日本の株価が急上昇しています。主な理由は海外の投資家によるものらしいのですが、技術畑で働いてきた私にとって、の成長が見込めることは嬉しいです。電気自動車用の個体電池や、軽量で曲げることができる太陽光電池など、環境改善に役立つ製品がたくさん出てくることを望みます。
クルミは今日ものんびりと過ごしていました。雨が降ってしまったので庭に出ることはできませんでした。

When I work at my desk at home from the morning, time passes quickly and before I know it, it’s already evening. The weather is bad today, and it started to rain in the evening. The rainy season is approaching.
Recently, stock prices in Japan have skyrocketed. The main reason seems to be foreign investors. I hope that many products that help improve the environment will emerge, such as solid-state batteries for electric vehicles and lightweight, flexible solar cells.
Kurumi was taking it easy today. We couldn’t go out in the garden because it was raining.
