息子からクリスマスカードが届きました。シンガポールに住んで 5 年、普段は Message での交信ですが、こうしてカードを受け取ると嬉しさが倍増します。中には旅行でいったリゾート地の写真、まるで絵葉書のように綺麗です。来年は一緒にこのような場所に行きたい、そんなメッセージも添えられていて、ほっこりした夕べを過ごしました。どうもありがとう。

Received the card from Singapore where my son lives over 5 years now.  We have been chatting by phone usually but the card / letter gives more happiness actually.  He put some pictures from recent trip to the beach.  Wish we will be able to go similar place next year that he stated in the letter.  We got nice evening with this envelope today.  Love.

ご近所 W さんのパソコンが不調とのことで修理を引き受けました。症状は電源が入らず、おかしな動作をする。以前にも同様の問題でメーカーに修理を依頼されたとのこと、再発してしまったようです。診断してみると電源ボタンが押しっぱなしの状態、これではシャットダウンと再起動の繰り返しになりかねません。分解してみて、構造を調査。電源ボタンが押している突起とスイッチのアライメントが問題でした。スイッチの基板をきちんと締め付けてしまうと、突起との隙間がなくなり、押された状態で固定されてしまいます。取り付けネジ部にスペーサーを入れて隙間を確保しました。まず、これで使っていただくこととしました。

Spent a day repairing PC from Mr. W my friend.  The issue was reported to the PC maker and repaired but the issue happened again.  I then investigated the phenomenon and found out the alignment between the point and the switch.  The gap between those were almost none then the switch keeps just pushing without any finger action.  I put a spacer to the circuit board giving some space to ensure the switch operation.  I hope the issue fixed and Mr. W will be happy.

久しぶりにお友達を招いてホームパーティーです。妻の手料理を皆さんで楽しみました。今回は若い女性 3 名、皆さんとの会話が楽しく、時が経つのを忘れてしまいました。私が経験した高度成長期の話をさせていただきました。今、若い方々が置かれている環境との大きな違いを感じています。でもそれをどのように生き抜いたら良いのかを一緒に考えることができて、私は幸せに思っています。後、どれだけの時間を皆さんと共に過ごせるか、長くは無いのでしょうけれど一緒に悩み、そして楽しみたいと思います。

Wife and I invited young friends today to my home party enjoyed foods and drink.  We liked wife’s recipe very much.  There were three ladies with us today talked a lot forgetting the time passed so quickly.  I have told my past years when the economy grew rapidly but now it is very slow almost flat at the each companies in Japan.  I am very appreciated having this opportunity talking with young person who needs to live in this situation.  It would be not so long for me to spend time with them but I try do my best wandering with them and enjoy life with them.

晴れて暖かい日曜でした。午後、犬たちを連れていつものコースを散歩です。この住宅街、家々には木と花が植えられていて秋の色満載です。青く晴れた空とのコントラストが良く、スマホで写真を撮ってみました。

It is warm today Sunday.  We walked around as usual with dogs.  The residence here houses have trees and flowers showing autumn color nicely.  The contrast with blue sky is so beautiful I used my smart phone take pictures.

数年前、裏庭の雑草対策をして効果がありました。そこでプロにお願いして家の周囲（東西と北）の土部をコンクリート処置してもらうこととしました。どうしても北側は湿気が多く、シダ類が生えてきてよくありません。新築の当初からやっておけばと悔やみましたが、その時は思いつかず。これから年をとり暑い夏の雑草取りが億劫になります。そんなこんなで処置してもらいました。これで犬たちにも安心して庭で遊ばせることができます。

Decided to cover with the asphalt around house preventing weed.  Since we are getting age and became tougher work at the hot summer for those weed.  I have tried myself a few years ago and confirmed this effectiveness.  Thus ordered this work to the professional company to complete.  Now it is good also for our dogs running around my house.

薪ストーブに火を入れました。これで 4 シーズン目、随分と楽に火を入れられるようになっています。ストーブの窓越しに見られる炎を眺めていると時間が経つのを忘れてしまいます。今日はさほど寒くはなかったのですが、週末の時間をのんびりと過ごすことができました。

I have started to use the wood burning stove.  This is the 4th year so I am now used to put the fire.  It is so mild the time goes with the fire seeing through the window.  It was not so cold this evening but decided to use and spend Sunday evening with time goes slowly.

アメリカでは Thank’s giving day が終わるとクリスマス一色になっていきます。我が家の飾り付けも準備を始めました。家のツリーは北米赴任時代、もう 20 年近く前に購入したものです。大きな部屋では小さく見えたのですが、日本の家ではとても大きな存在となっています。毎年、一つずつ増やしたオーナメント、それを見ながら飾るのが妻と私の楽しみになっています。電球のソケットに差し込んで回るモーター式の飾り、これもまだ健在です。今日から外の電飾にも灯を入れました。

Christmas decoration will be everywhere after the Thanksgiving Holiday in the States.  We have also started decorating both inside and outside our house.  The tree we have bought around 20 years ago while we were in the State.  It looks small at the house but now takes space at my home in Japan.  Wife loves to see each ornament we collected one each year.  The piece has a electric motor ups and down or rotate the ornament is also our favorite.   I switched on the illumination at my garden today.

1975 年に同じ会社に入った同志、明日は九州の一人を訪ねて同窓会を九州でということになった。無事にその計画も実現。私は一日早く、せっかくなのでひとり旅を楽しむこととした。福岡空港でレンタカーを借り、高速を使って日田へ来てみた。特段の意味は無く、明日の場所に少し近いところで宿を取った。夕食に訪れた居酒屋で情報を入手、明日は見所を訪ねてみよう。たまにはのんびり旅行も良い。

We have planned to reunion tomorrow with old friend we have entered to the company in 1975.  I came to Kyusyu one day before enjoying the time just myself.  Drove a car from the airport ran through the highway to here Hita the small town.  Got an information from the owner at the place I took dinner tonight.  I will visit those places tomorrow before meeting with friends.

この週末は穏やかで暖かく、散歩には最高でした。赤く色づいたドウダンツツジが目に新鮮です。犬たちには新調したハーネスを使ってみました。躾が悪く、ぐいぐいと引っ張るのですが、首を絞めるよりは楽だったようです。クルミは帰るとクタクタ、おやつを食べて眠ってしまいました。

It was mild and warm this weekend good for a walk.  We have enjoyed the color very much while walking with dogs.  Dogs are happy with new harness to keep their speed to walk.  Kurumi enjoyed a lot went to his bed after the snack.

毎月第二土曜日に近くの公園で開催されているマーケットに行きました。今日は快晴、気温も比較的高く、とても気持ち良い日でした。そのためなのか多くの出店があり楽しめました。いつものお気に入りのタルトを買いました。

On every 2nd Saturday in a month this market is open at the park.  It was mild and warm today thus there were many shops at the market.  We bought fresh tarts that our fervor one with apples.
