プリンとのお別れから 1 週間になります。近所の知り合いと犬の話になると悲しみが湧き出てきてしまいます。この気分は時間が解決してくれることでしょう。今日は妻と二人、夜桜見物をして気を紛らわしてきました。大光寺には樹齢 200 年と 400 年の木が今見頃です。そして昼間は庭仕事をしました。睡蓮鉢を大くて深くしてみました。これまでのものは浅くて睡蓮には不向きでした。金魚も水の量が増えて生き生きと泳いでいます。ピンクの小さな花は馬酔木です。アセビと読みます。

It has been a week already after Purin has gone.  We are still feeling very sad specially when we talk about him with friends.  We need time to fix this situation that all we know.  Wife and I took a walk seeing some trees in this evening try to calm down.  The temple have very old trees one is more than 200 years old and the other is 400 years and more.

今夜 12 歳まで未だ半年を残してプリンくんは旅立ちました。これまでたくさんの思い出を一緒に作ることができました。今朝、容体が急変、一度は入院しましたが、獣医との相談で帰宅、私たちが見守るなか、妻に抱かれたまま、静かに息を引き取りました。最後は苦しまなかったことが何よりです。プリンくん、これまで本当にありがとう。

Purin passed away this evening (10:30PM on 17-Mar. 2018).  I am very pleased his 11 years and 6 months life with us.  He made a lots of memories for us.  We brought him to the hospital this morning and discussed with the doctor and decided him to back to home with us.  He closed his eye while with us and in wife’s hand.  He stopped his breath quietly without any pain that aids us.

プリンは心臓の病気を患っていました。弁膜症です。その原因は不明ですが、犬種に依存した病気のようです。思えばクッキーも心臓が悪く、赴任している間、米国の獣医さんで薬を処方してもらいました。弁膜症の心臓は血液循環の効率が悪く、どうしても肥大化してくるようです。それを抑制する薬は年々良くなっているようです。プリンは残念ながら、心臓の肥大化が気管支を圧迫し、呼吸器系に影響が出て、肺に水が溜まりはじめました。その水を抜くための利尿薬が腎臓に影響を与えてしまいます。心臓と腎臓、処方には正反対の薬が必要となります。このような状態にも関わらず、プリンくんは頑張ってくれました。これまで楽しい時間をたくさんくれたプリンに感謝です。

The doctor spent time for Purin and he has been making good suggestions for us  as well as a lot of progresses to us.  We really appreciated his effort and records he gave ti us.  The memo describes the story how Purin struggled at the last phase.  Again, we really appreciate to Purin for those great memories.

東京駅丸の内南口で待ち合わせ、旧友連中とぶらついた。バスで築地場外市場へ、その後は徒歩で本願寺、勝どき橋、月島もんじゃストリートへ。食べて歩いて飲んで話して、楽しいひと時でした。1975 年に同じ高専を卒業した連中です。会話のテーマもすっかり年金、病気、家族の健康と介護、となってきました。気さくに話せる大切な仲間です。

I had a time reunion with old friends we graduated the same school in 1975.  Since then we have been meeting occasionally once or twice in a year.  We spent a day from the Tokyo station.  The market place was very crowded with many foreigners Tsukiji is the famous place.  We then took walk to Tukishima through the Kachidoki bridge.  Eat, walk, drink, talk such a nice time this weekend.

気温が上がった週末、カメラを持って散歩しました。風が強く花粉が舞っていてクシャミが出てしまいました。梅、福寿草、花屋さんの店先にも多くの花が飾られていました。

I took a walk with my camera today.  It was very warm and now many flowers are blooming.  Enjoy spring weekend.

以前、アメリカの技術者と製品設計で一緒に仕事をする機会がありました。その時「え、日本人は残業代が支払われるのか！」と驚かれたことを思い出します。米国ではブルーカラーいわゆる肉体労働者には時間給が支払われるが、技術者など事務労働者には裁量労働が適用されていました。もう 20 年以上前になります。今、日本では働き方改革とかで紙面を賑わしていますが、私たちの受け止め方も見直す時期にきていると思います。

When I worked with the engineer in the states I was noticed that the engineer was not pay hourly but annual contract.  It was bit surprise to me but reasonably understood because the work is not for the time but for the progress.  Now this has been discussing in Japan.  I think we shall change the way of work and much to the payment with the contribution.  Hope this will be cleared soon without any other discrepancy.

昨夜は、これまで一緒に仕事させていただいた方々からお招きをいただき、懐石料理をご馳走になりました。宴のはじめに、「これはお別れの会ではなく、感謝の会とします。」と言っていただき、とても嬉しく思いました。最後とかお別れと聞くと一生会えないように感じますが、生涯現役を志す私にはこれからも皆さんとは何らかの形でご縁があるように思います。食事の間、楽しい話と笑顔が絶えませんでした。本当に感謝です。

I was invited to the dinner by the team worked with me at the company as the last group I managed.  O-san introduced to the team that “It is not the farewell dinner but the appreciation dinner because we are not disconnecting now.” that was so nice and happy to me.  The time past quickly with a lot of laugh and smile faces.

トランプ大統領が Twitter で思いを発信しています。大統領が ? と当時思った人も多かったと思いますが、インターネットのおかげでブログや他の SNS を使って何を考えているか広く発信することができるようになりました。私も会社ではメールや社内ブログを使ってエッセーとして毎週発信してきました。VP というタイトルを持つと、従業員からは「雲の上の人」と言われてしまうことがあります。そんな人間が何を考え、どう思うか、公にすることで距離を短くしたいと思って始めました。200 を超える短文は今でも思い出となっています。これからはここで呟いていきましょう。

We have surprised knowing that president Trump uses the Twitter to communicate his thinks.  It has been easy expedite the personal comments and opinions using those ways through the internet technology.  I also used the intranet to communicate my thinking to employees weekly.  Likewise that people feels difficulty what those executives have the opinion or the way of think.  That was the reason I also tried to publish the sentences.  Let me keep here my blog writing things.

1975 年 4 月に社会人生活を始めてから 43 年が経ちます。今日をもって正社員という形での社会人生活に終止符を打つこととしました。当時は定年が 55 歳が当たり前でしたが、今では 65 歳となりました。私は今年の 6 月で 64 歳を迎えます。この辺りで、将来を見据えて少しアクセルを緩め、スローライフへのギアポジションを選ぶこととしました。とても有難いことなのですが、これまでの職場、会社で引き続き、お手伝いさせていただける機会を得ました。パートタイムですが、私に社会貢献できるならとても幸せなことです。そして、これからは家族のために多くの時間を割こうと思います。これまで一緒に時間を共にしていただいた方々に感謝して止みません。

I finished the work (as the official employee) today.  It has been about 43 years since I joined to the first company in 1975 April.  I will be 64 on June this year and the retirement age became now 65 this company.  I have decided to change the gear position to lower speed of my life at this stage.  I really hope be able to contribute society using my skill and experience.  I am glad to receive other offer even it is the part time work at this company.  Let me keep more time for my family from now on.  Best wish to all.

キッチンの水栓、シャワー機能が便利なのですが、水量が少ないと綺麗なシャワーになりません。そこで穴を少し塞いでみることにしました。穴の大きさは 0.5mm 程度ですので、そこにピタリと嵌るステンレスの針金を入れてみました。折り曲げることで 2 つの穴を同時に塞ぎ、針金が出てくる心配もありません。結果は良好ですが、切り口が綺麗ではないので水が回り込んでしまいます。リューターがあると磨けるのですが。当面はこれで使ってみることとします。

It is good to have the shower for dish wash and others but I needed to have this with more less water flow.  There are many holes at the outlet so tried to close some of them to function with less water flow.  The size of holes are about 0.5mm so I used the wire to fit.  Let me see how this goes.

今月末で退職することを機会に今まで持っていなかったスマートフォンを購入しました。5 年間、会社の業務で貸与されていたスマホを使ううちに以前の携帯電話が使い辛くなってしまいました。iPhone を使っていたので、その最新版にしました。手のひらに乗るパソコンです。とっても多くの機能があり、全ては覚えられそうにありません。これからは少し時間ができます、楽しんで使いたいと思います。セキュリティーもきちんとしなければいけません。

I finally purchased the new phone at the different carrier.  I now can not use the traditional cell phone because the company provided me the smart phone last 5 years.  Due to my retirement at this company I decided to switch the phone.  Amazing function it has like a PC.  Well I try to be used to it with security features.
