有効期限が半年を切る前に更新しました。今年、日本のパスポートのデザインが新しくなるとのことなのですが、それには早かったようです。見た目は変わっていませんが、製本 (?) のやり方が変わったようです。背ができて、開きやすくなったかもしれません。昨今、入出国でパスポートにスタンプを押さなくなる国が多くなり、パスポートを開いては訪れた国々を思い出すようなこともなくなりますね。

Before expiring less than 6 months, we renewed our passports this time. It was noticed the passport design will be renewed in this year but it was bit earlier than this change. I looked the details and saw the way of making the passport. It looks easier to open the pages but more countries became non stamp at the immigration lesser time to open and remember where I went.

ここのところ「感謝」のコメントを書き続けています。今日は家族について、私たちには一人の息子とその妻、私には兄、妻には妹と弟、そして施設でクラス義母がおります。私の両親は既に他界していて、何かにつけて息子や兄と相談をさせてもらっています。特に仕事のことについては妻とも話すのですが、お互いに社会で働く身同士の会話を選んでしまいます。いつものことですが、遠方にいても相談にのってくれることに感謝しています。今日は息子夫婦がシンガポールから遊びに来る日、この先 1 週間、日本でおもてなしさせてもらいましょう。

I have been writing appreciations these days. I would like to appreciate to my family today. Our son and his wife, my elder brother, wife has younger sister and brother, my mother in-law is staying at the nursing home. My parents have already passed away so I often talk with my son and brother the things I need consultants. I talked to my wife but specially for the business, son and brother gives me good suggestions. Son and his wife arrived to Japan today and going to spend a week with us. We are going to have good day with them this week.

常日頃思っている事です。子育てを始めてから家で専業主婦として息子と私の身の回りのことを丁寧にこなしてくれています。安心して外で働くことができます。その反面、社会との接点が限られてしまわないかと心配してきました。結婚して今年で 44 年になります。50 年の記念にもう一度ハワイの教会で式を持つのが次の希望となっています。その日まで、そしてつぎの記念日まで、永遠に健康でいたいものです。

I have been tanking to my wife all the time.  Since we had our son she stopped the job and working for family long years.  I really appreciate her house keeping for me to work at company without any concern for house and family.  I but bit concern about wife because distance from the social relations.  We will be celebrating 44th anniversary this coming November and wishing to have one more big celebration at Hawaii for our 50th.  I really hope to be happy until then and forever.

昨年 8 月からテニスを習い始めました。年明けから進級して毎週土曜の朝 80 分のクラスに通っています。週に一度なので上達は遅いですが、コーチは毎週、手を替え品を替えるように上達のコツを教えてくれます。テニスはミスのゲーム、得点の 90% 以上はミスで決まってしまいます。如何にしてボールを相手側のコートに打ち返すか、そこが重要です。空振り、ネット、をやってはいけません。横にオーバーは残念、奥にオーバーは大丈夫、そのうちにコントロールできるようになります。と、一生懸命頭に入れて来たボールをしっかりと見定めて打ち返しています。今日も少しはうまくできたかな、自分で自分を褒めています。毎週教えてくれるコーチに大感謝しています。

I started to take a tennis school since last August. I have got the next level class in January and getting 80 minutes class every Saturday morning with wife. Because we take only once in a week we are not getting good fast but our coach teaches us every week by seeing our style to hit the ball. The 90% of the points are due to the mistake that the game of tennis. So it is very important to return the ball to other side of court. The coach is saying we shall not missing swing and hit to the net. We might okay over to side or back because it will be able to control in future. I try to hit and return the ball in my brain with the suggestion. Hope I did bit well than last week. Really appreciate to the coach every week teaches us.

1 月もシンガポールへの出張があり新年からのんびりとも出来ず、2 月は夫婦でインフルエンザに感染してしまいこれまた、慌ただしく過ぎてしまいました。気がつけば 3 月です。本当に時が経つのを早く感じてしまいます。そんな時、学生時代の友人からのメール。年に 2 回会っている仲間たち、そろそろやりませんか？との問いかけでした。既に今月は予定が詰まっている人間が多く、4 月にお花見を兼ねて、という事にしました。1975 年に卒業して以来続いている友人関係に感謝です。

It has been flying the time since January to March it is already in March now.  Specially last month February was fast due to the flu both of us got and struggled to recovery.  Well just recently my school friend mailed me asking to get reunion.  We have been meeting twice in a year usually.  Couple of friends are already busy in this month so I am now asking to all in April to meet.  We graduated in 1975 and keeping this friendship long time.  I appreciate having them in my life.

車を購入したディーラー、担当営業の方からハガキをいただきました。文面を見て仰天、17 年間で 850 台を成約させておられるとか、これは毎週 1 台のペース。1,000 台まで後 3 年と試算します。早速、会社の帰り道、お祝いのつもりで立ち寄ってきました。

A card came a few days ago from the sales person I have been contacting with. He was informing excellent progress that sold 850 new cars last 17 years. This means one car in a week as average, wow! I then stop by at the shop yesterday and congratulate him. I am sure he will get 1,000 cars record in 3 years.

昨日、シンガポールからの友人夫妻が来日したのを機に高尾山へハイキングしてきました。ケーブルカーで中腹まで行き、薬王院を経由して山頂へ、私も久しぶりに山頂まで来ました。あいにく曇り空となってしまい見晴らしはあまり良くありませんでしたが、シンガポールではハイキングをしないお二人にも楽しいひとときとなったことでしょう。

I brought friends from Singapore to the top yesterday afternoon. The hight is 599 meters this mountain here has the most visitors in Japan as the mountain hiking. It was bit clouded so the scenery was not so good unfortunately. I hoped they enjoyed the time since it is not so common hiking in Singapore due to the temperature and the landform.

昨年の 2 月末で退職して以来、1 年が経とうとしています。個人事業主という形で請け負った業務を月に 12 日程度、働いてきました。これまで 43 年間会社勤めをしていた身体は水曜と金曜も自宅で頭を働かせてしまいます。今年で 65 歳になります。同期の人間も半数以上は何かしら働く機会を持っているようで、毎日が日曜という人はどのように時間を費やしているのか、などと考えてしまいます。その反面、この歳でまだ働けることに感謝するのですが、いつまで続けるべきか、と自問自答の繰り返しです。今日は平日の非番、妻とパスポートの更新に行ってきました。海外とのやりとりをする今の請負業務です、もうしばらくパスポートが必要になりました。

It has been almost a year I could spent as the private operation after finished the employee situation. I work 12 days in a month average but last 43 years I worked almost 24-7 as the management role so it is still uncomfortable how to use those other 2 weekdays without working. I will be 65 soon and seeing my friends not have job and spending 24-7 free that I can not imagine at this moment. In nature human should work as needed base but we sometime have to work and forget the time with other things. Well, let me keep transit the situation to natural with my wife. We submitted the passport renewal for next 10 years today. Wish we are able to abroad couple of times in a year.

記憶の限りではインフルエンザに感染したことはありませんでした。何度か予防のワクチン接種を受けたことはあります。このシーズンは、そのワクチンも打たず、少し無防備だったのかも知れません。日本国民の 2% 程度の患者数に上っているとニュースでは言っています。そのピークは過ぎているようですが、私がお世話になっている勤務先でも多くの人が感染している状況です。ちょうど一週間になりました。体調の変化を覚えてから、やっと熱も下がり、昨夜から入浴もできるようになっています。症状は人によってまちまちなようで、妻は重症化してしまいました 3 日間 39 ℃を越える熱を出し、今は嘔吐と頭痛で、まだ寝床で多くの時間を過ごしています。こうなって分かる妻のありがたさ、ここ数日はレトルト食品の世話になっています。この週末は 3 連休、この間に完治したいものです。土曜は昼過ぎから雪が降り始めました。ストーブに火を入れて暖かく過ごすことができました。発症から 10 日間、妻もやっと起きれるようになりました。

As far as I remember I never had this type of flu in past. Although I took a shot to prevent the flu but did not infect since I remember. I did not get the vaccine at this season that might be a mistake. There were more than 2% of total Japanese population got the flu in this winter that the news report has been saying. Both of us took around 10 days to be recovered spent good 3 days this weekend with fire while we had a snow on Saturday at this area.

今年、猛威を奮っている A型インフルエンザに私も感染してしまいました。金曜の夜半から「ん、何か変だな」と思い土日と売薬で過ごしたのですが、月曜に受診して感染が発覚しました。熱は 38 ℃に届かない程度なのですが、下腹部の違和感、悪寒が強く湯たんぽを入れて寝床に入っています。解熱後 48 時間は外出禁止とのこと、今週はおとなしくしていましょう。

I have not been got flu last several years but wife and I infected the A type flu this time.  There are more than 2 million patients in Japan this season.  Somewhat the flu has been very badly and news paper reports this frequently.  I did not get so high fever but cold feeling in my legs and pain body.  Let us stay home this week and hope to recover soon.
