Today turned out to be a cooler day, although we thought the temperature would be a bit warmer. There were a lot of clouds, so the sun felt strong for a shorter period of time. For lunch my wife and I decided to go to a pizza restaurant. Here they cook two kinds of pizzas, half each. Kurumi was spoiling us again today.
I have continued to follow up on a small aneurysm that was found during a checkup 4 years ago. I have been seeing my doctor every three months. I told her that I would like the hospital to install an MR scanner that can depict the lesion a little more clearly. I charged my car on the way home from the hospital, but there was a slightly worrisome phenomenon. I will try a different charging station tomorrow. Kurumi is taking a nap in bed, probably because of the slightly cooler temperature.
The class at the university starts with a 20-question vocabulary test, and we are required to study the week’s newscasts. Today I misspelled Ceremony; I wrote L when it should be R. It is very difficult to remember R and L properly, which is something I am not good at. Kurumi chews gum and brushes his teeth after dinner. If I don’t hold the gum in my hand and let him chew it, he eats it right away. I have to be careful because Kurumi’s chewing power is very strong.
Today was another pleasant morning with temperatures like early summer, making it pleasant to walk around. In Japan, we can donate blood until the day before the 70th birthday. It is inevitable that there is an age limit. I decided to end my blood donation after today’s activity; I started donating blood when I turned 20 years old, and today I have done so 180 times. Recently I have been donating blood upon request from patients whose type matches mine. This year, I have received requests at the end of every month. However, I will not be able to respond next month. I am happy for myself that I have been able to continue for 50 years. Kurumi seemed to want to play with me when I came and was asking me to pick up his toys.
I woke up this morning to the sound of birds singing in the garden. I opened the curtains and looked out into the garden and saw the birds had returned to the nest box. I don’t know where they had been, but today two birds were busy going in and out of the nest box. They seemed to have continued nesting. They may have noticed that I was about to remove the nest box. There are many flower buds on the lemon tree. There are also many small berries on the Juneberry tree. The trees are growing vigorously, perhaps because of the warmer temperatures. Kurumi stayed at home because we went shopping and he looked lonely.
Recently, I have not heard any birds singing. It seems that they have abandoned nesting. I heard that the birds stop building their nests when the environment changes or when there is a fear of natural enemies. I will try to open the nest tomorrow. Japan’s Golden Week in May started today. Many people will take a vacation next week. Talking on news programs about how many people are going on trips. We stay at home during the crowded season and spend time with Kurumi.
The trees are so beautiful right now with their fresh green foliage. I am looking for opportunities to take pictures. In Japanese, there is a word “Shinrin-Yoku” (forest bathing), and at this time of year, being surrounded by fresh green trees is soothing. I have learned that this word “Shirin-Yoku” has come to be understood as it is in other countries. I guess they do not have this custom in other countries. Today, when I wanted to take a picture of Kurumi, he was always asleep.
Yesterday’s cold weather has changed to the heat of early summer today. This year we have had many such temperature changes. According to the forecast, temperatures are not likely to get lower in the future. Perhaps because of this warm weather, wisteria flowers are in full bloom. Kurumi seems to stay awake longer when the temperature is high.
It was another chilly day with cold rain from the morning. In the evening, we decided to warm room with a stove. Kurumi is warming himself in front of the stove. But tomorrow, the temperature is expected to rise more than 10 degrees Celsius. The weather is not stable in spring.
Today was a day of class at the university. At the beginning of the lecture, there is a vocabulary test; we are given 10 questions and we answer those English words. Today, I was able to answer all 10 questions correctly for the first time. I am very happy. It is difficult to remember words without spelling them incorrectly, and I always make mistakes. I will study hard so that I can get good marks again next week. Kurumi is playing happily today. When Kurumi gets sleepy, he spins around on the bed to make his bed. Recently, the time he spends on the bed has been getting longer.
