10 月は神無月と言いますが、ここ島根県出雲は日本中の神が集まるため神在月と呼んでいるようです。毎年の世界遺産探訪ですが、ことしは島根県にある石見銀山にしました。月曜の夜 10 時に東京駅を出るサンライズ出雲、寝台特急は 6:30 に岡山でサンライズ瀬戸を切り離し、出雲市には朝 10 時に着きました。とても久しぶりに乗った寝台列車、線路と車輪が奏でるリズムと心地よい揺れで私はぐっすりと眠ってしまいました。早速レンタカーで石見銀山へ。行きの道では少し雨にふられましたが坑道のを巡ることができ、当時の大変さを知ることができました。
October is said to be a godless month (Kan-Na-Zuki), but here Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, seems to call it the god-in-the-month because gods all over Japan gather to be here. I visit Iwami Ginzan, located in Shimane Prefecture. Sunrise Izumo leaving Tokyo station at 10pm on Monday night, the sleeper express separated from Sunrise Seto in Okayama at 6:30am, and arrived in Izumo at 10:00 in the morning.
