宿泊した多くの人は高い評価をする、と言われています。星野リゾートの裏側を紹介するテレビ番組を見ました。その中で、心に残った点ですが、「接客にはマニュアルは作らない」と聞いてなるほどと感心しました。マニュアルを作ると、それしかやらなくなる。お客様一人一人に合った内容はそれぞれ異なっていて、マニュアルにはできないし、してはいけません。仕事でも言えることがあるかも知れない、それは人事でしょうか。

It was an interesting TV program last evening reported the Resort Hotel group named “Hoshi-No-Resort”.  This became very famous by getting the good service. The program introduced that one of the reason is do not make the manual to service guests because it is not the same procedure to present the good service to all guests.  I was impressed with this policy.  We shall make the manual these days to keep the some level of the quality but there are some cases we shall not make the manual I thought.

先日設定した Slingbox のリモコン機能が少し貧弱で操作の度に画像信号が途絶えてしまうとのフィードバックを海外に住む家族から聞いて、解決策として eRemote なるものを設置してみました。これは赤外信号を学習させて家電製品のコントロールをネットワーク越しに行うものです。ブルーレイレコーダーのコントローラの主要なボタンを学習させて、海外から操作できるように設定してみました。時々オフラインになってしまう不具合が出ていますが、Slingbox で画像、eRemote で操作の組み合わせは非常に良いようです。eRemote は無線 LAN しかも 2.4GHz のみの対応と、少し制限があります。オフラインになってしまう問題の原因を探っています。 

I added one more fun item to the TV / DVD recording system.  This enables to control the device IR signal through the network remotely.  My family lives in Singapore now able to control the recorder more friendly.  I have an issue with the offline mode that the tool down occasionally hope this issue will be fixed soon.

立川にある昭和記念公園を散歩しました。これまでは週末に来ていましたが、今日は平日の金曜、チューリップのピークも過ぎたこともあり閑散としていました。売店に勤めている人とは同じ犬種を飼っていることからおしゃべりをすることができました。休日だと休憩する場所を探すことにも難儀します。こんなにも平日は閑散としていてのんびりできるとは思ってもいませんでした。

We spent a day at the park on Friday weekday.  It is already past the peak of some flowers that may be the reason there were not so many people at the park but we could spent time with talk and relax.

先日、機内誌を読んでいて知ったのですが、ANA の国内線では従来のヘッドフォンからイアフォンに変わったそうです。このイアフォンは持ち帰ることができるもので、ANA としては従来のヘッドフォンの再利用費用と不具合時の対応費用よりも安価と試算されたのでしょう。また、自分で持っているイアフォンを使う人が増えたことも理由と書かれていました。これまで、医療機器の仕事をしてきましたが、再利用するためには洗浄、消毒、滅菌など手間と費用がかかります。品質を落とすことなく、安価で単回使用の製品ができると使う側も安心ですね。

I read a inflight magazine when return to Japan last time and recognized that ANA started the service provide the single use earphone instead of the reusable headset for domestic flights.  There are customers use their own headset or earphone and the cost to reuse the device are the reason I guess.  I have worked with the reusable medical devices but it is preferable for the patient use the single use devices with safe and comfort.

私のパソコンは Apple Macintosh。和文でのタイプは必要ないのでキーボードは英語版を採用しています。かなと英数の切り替えを簡単にしたく、英かなというアプリケーションを Mac に入れています。これで左 Command で英数、右 Command でかなに切り替えることができます。さて、最近になって Windows もこの Mac で使うようになりました。IME の切り替えも同じにすることを私は次のように実現しました。まず、Windows の Free Soft である alt-ime を組み込みます。この段階で左 alt で英数、右 alt でかなに切り替えることができます。最後に Windows のレジストリを変更して alt と command を入れ替えます。変更するレジストリの場所は：コンピューター\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout です。ここの Scancode Map を次のように変更します。これで IOS / Windows 共に左右の Commad キーで英数とかなに設定することが可能となります。このレジストリ変更には KeySwap というフリーソフトを使っています。

I have been using Apple PC personally but I need both IOS and Windows due to various reasons.  It is an issue with Japanese operating system to switch between English and Japanese by clicking the key.  I installed the one for IOS that uses the Command key to switch.  There is another one for Windows uses the Alt key to switch.  I then worked out to use the Command key to switch both IOS and Windows.

テレビの視聴について考えると、昔から随分と変化している。ものごごろ付いた時、我が家にはテレビというガジェットはありませんでした。それが今ではデジタル化され、オンデマンドのサービスや HDD の容量を利用して全自動で複数チャンネルを録画するものまで現れるに至りました。ネットワークの技術とも合わさって、今や自宅のテレビの前でなくても観たい番組が観られる時代になりました。今週、新しいガジェットを入手、これと HDD レコーダーを接続することで外に居ても高画質の画像を端末で観ることができます。新しいガジェットはすぐに古くなります。これからも進歩が楽しみです。技術者の一人として、いつも新しいものに興味を持って、その原理まで知りたいと思います。

I have got a gadget this weekend this enables to see and access the HDD / DVD recorder from anywhere through the network.  My house did not have a TV set when I was child but now the technology grew rapidly and this kind of gadgets were developed for our life.  I now connected this to the HDD recorder thus it is not necessary to be home see the programs.  I can see the programs anywhere in the world through the network.  I would like to keep touching the technology and keen to know the theory how that works as an engineer.  

伊豆の旅館に何度かプリンとクルミを連れて遊びにいきました。そこの仲居さんからメッセージと写真が届きました。これまで家族で訪れて、その度に写真を撮っていただきましたが、それらをまとめてアルバムに。とても心温まるもてなしを受けました。今度はクルミを連れて遊びに行きましょう。

We have been the Japanese inn couple of times past years.  The waitress sent the message with pictures we took when we have stayed at the inn.  She was so kind sharing some memories with us.  Let us go to the inn soon with Kurumi.

月曜の夕方成田を発ち、今週は次の業務の関係でシンガポールに来ています。金曜の早朝便で帰国という短期間なので今回は自分一人での移動です。泊まるホテルも新しく仕事をする関係でこれまでと異なる地域にあるホテルです。VIVO City という巨大なショッピングセンターの目の前、買い物や飲食には便利なホテルでした。昨夜はここに入っているスイス料理の店へ。会社の人間と楽しむことができました。

It is a short business trip to here Singapore.  I left Monday afternoon from Narita and going to leave on Friday early morning.  I stay at the Bay Hotel close to the VIVO shopping center.  It is my next job working with the company in Singapore.  I went to the restaurant in the VIVO city with the colleague at the new office.

2 月末日で退職した私は 3 月からフリーランスとして社会貢献を続けることとしました。同期の友人には何もせず、悠々自適な生活をされている人もいますが、私にできることがあり、望まれていることがあるのなら、生涯現役の考えて働いてみたいと思います。とは言っても体力の衰えを少し感じている私、これからは毎日ではなく、週に 3 日のペースでできることをやってみます。そしてこれまで私の社会人生活を支えてくれた妻と旅行できる機会を持ちたいと思います。税金対策として来年の申告に向けて勉強を始めました。

I have started the own business since March after retiring the company.  I had been worked at companies total 43 years since 1975 April after I graduated the collage.  There are couple of friends who do not work any more.  I also thought that but if I could contribute to the society with anything I can do, I will do.  It is very fortunate that the previous company contracted me in March for the translation work.  I have also asked other manager to work as the Program Management area.  Let me keep this style of life and try to spend more time with family than before.  It is also important for us to enjoy the life.

数ヶ月、いろいろと検討してきましたが、結局良くならず、ドック入りすることとしました。当初、担当のメカニックは「車の診断ソフトでエラーが出ていないので、、、」と渋っていましたが、実車に乗ってもらって納得。調べた結果 EFI 電子式燃料噴射装置の故障と判明しました。保証期間中のため、無償修理してくれることになりましたが、その反面、掘り下げた原因究明はあきらめました。以前、自動車に製品を納めていた頃を思い出します。小さな製品でしたが、壊れると高級車もストップしてしまい、原因究明を行い、品質保証の偉い人に絞られました。ドック入りする前は写真のように不完全燃焼した状態、これが綺麗に治りました。

I have been trying couple of things but the situation did not get well.  The mechanic also agree to investigate in the detail although the diagnostic software did not detect any failure.  Finally he found out the failure with the EFI Electric Fuel Injector that was nice and he replaced is under the warranty so not cost for me.  I remember the time when I have been selling the product to the car maker and I had a very difficult time with the failure reporting the root causes to the QA manager.
