家具の飾り棚に照明を取り付けていたのですが、電池式だったので交換が億劫で最近は光がありませんでした。単 4 乾電池 3 本を使用しますから、その電源に USB 電源を利用することとしました。電池ケースに入る木の丸棒を乾電池の代わりとし、両端に取り付けた電極に USB 充電器から給電してやります。こうすることで電池交換の手間が省けます。人が近寄ると点灯するようになっていて、また、この棚に光が戻ってきました。

I had installed the lights on the cabinet of the furniture, but since it was battery-powered, it was a hassle to replace, and recently there was no light. Since it uses 3 AAA batteries, I decided to use a USB power supply as its power source. The wooden round bar that goes into the battery case is used as a substitute for the dry battery, and the electrodes attached to both ends are powered by the USB charger. This will save me the trouble of replacing the battery. It was supposed to light up when a person approached, and the light came back to this shelf.

今年はクリスマスの装飾をすることにしました。ツリーを飾り、リースを付けて、庭のオリーブの木に電飾をつけました。コロナ禍で働いている医療従者の方々の苦労は計り知れません。感染にかからないことが唯一の手助けだと思っています。光り輝くツリーを見ていると幸せになってきます。ワクチンの開発は進んでいるようですが、私たちに接種されるまではまだまだ時間がかかりそうです。これからも安全に過ごせることを願っています。

I decided to decorate Christmas this year. I decorated the tree, attached a wreath, and illuminated the olive trees in the garden. The hardships of the medical servants working in Corona are immeasurable. I think the only help is not to get infected. It makes me happy when I see the shining tree. Vaccine development seems to be progressing, but it seems that it will take some time before we are vaccinated. I hope everyone can continue to spend time safely.

日本では新規感染者の数が増加しつつあり、第三波と言われています。このような中、旅行をすることに憚れますが、気をつけながら、感染しないように出ています。宿泊施設でもスタッフが気を遣う姿を見るにつけ、利用して協力することも大切だと考えています。しかし、旅をしてみると、感染予防をしない人を見ることがあります。マスク、手洗い、手指消毒、きちんと予防をしながらこれからも可能な限り、旅をしてみたいと思います。

The number of newly infected people is increasing in Japan, and it is said to be the third wave. Under these circumstances, I am confused about traveling, but I am careful not to get infected. I think it is also important to use and cooperate with the staff to see how they care about them at the accommodation facility. However, when I travel, I may see people who do not prevent infection. I would like to continue traveling as much as possible while masking, washing my hands, disinfecting my hands, and taking proper precautions.

今日は蓼科を起点にして清里までドライブしました。八ヶ岳の南側を走る道路は空いていて快適です。今日も暖かな日でしたが、標高が高い清里は肌寒く、コートが必要でした。いつものお店でオーナーと会話。お互いに久しぶりの再会を楽しむことができました。

Today I drove from Tateshina to Kiyosato. The road running on the south side of Yatsugatake is free and comfortable. It was a warm day today, but Kiyosato, which has a high altitude, was chilly and needed a coat. Conversation with the owner at the usual shop. We were able to enjoy the reunion after a long time.

昨日から 2 泊の旅行で蓼科に来ています。気温が高い週となりました。紅葉が見頃で綺麗です。楓と白樺のコントラストが青い空に映えていました。

We’ve been to Tateshina for a two night trip since yesterday. It was a warm week. The autumn leaves are in full bloom and beautiful. The contrast between Kaede and the birch was shining in the blue sky.

今日も陽の暖かさに誘われて近くの丘を歩きました。森の中を歩くと気持ちが良いです。西陽に輝く紅葉、葉の隙間から漏れる陽の光、枯れ葉を踏み締める足音、ここには喧騒が無く、穏やかな時間が流れています。

I was invited by the warmth of the sun to walk on the nearby hills today. It feels good to walk in the woods. The autumn leaves shining by the west sun, the sunlight leaking through the gaps between the leaves, the footsteps trampling on the dead leaves, there is no noise here, and calm time is flowing.

国道 20 号線、甲州街道には銀杏の並木があります。この季節は銀杏の実と落ち葉で道路は大変なことになってしまいます。幸い、雨が降らない週でしたが、雨に濡れると滑って危ない思いをすることがあります。晴れた午後、国道の歩道橋から写真を撮ってみました。ちょうど西陽が当たって黄色い葉が輝いていました。

There is a row of ginkgo trees on Route 20 named Koshu Kaido. In this season, ginkgo nuts and fallen leaves make the road difficult. Fortunately, it was a week when it didn’t rain, but when it gets wet, it can slip and feel dangerous. On a sunny afternoon, I took a picture from the pedestrian bridge on the road. The yellow leaves were shining by the west sun.

平日の午後、陽射しに誘われてカメラを持って近所を歩きました。日向は暖かく、日陰は少し寒い、そんな午後でした。柚子、柿、秋の色が綺麗です。

On weekday afternoons, I was invited by the sun to walk around the neighborhood with my camera. It was such an afternoon when the sun was warm and the shade was a little cold. The colors of yuzu, persimmon, and autumn are beautiful.

少し雲が多い日でしたが、いつもの公園を散策しました。枯れ葉を踏み締める時の音が心地良いです。見ると、多くのどんぐりが落ちていました。ベンチに座って持参したおにぎりとパンで昼食。風もなく穏やかな時間を過ごすことができました。先週は米国大統領選挙で騒がしい日が流れましたが、早く落ち着くことを願います。

It was a little cloudy day, but we took a walk at near the park. The sound of trampling dead leaves is pleasant. When I saw it, many acorns had fallen. We sat on the bench and had lunch with the rice balls and bread we brought. We were able to spend a calm time without wind. Last week was a noisy day in the US presidential election, but I hope it settles down soon.

今日は私たち夫妻の結婚記念日です。45年を振り返っています。良かったこと、楽しかったこと、幸せだったこと、嬉しかったこと、可笑しかったこと、数々のことが思い出されます。その反対の思い出も沢山ありますが、これからも二人で多くの思い出を作っていきます。なによりも健康でいられたらと願って止みません。これまでありがとう、そしてこれからもよろしく。

Today is our wedding anniversary. Looking back on 45 years. It reminds me of good things, fun things, happy things, happy things, funny things, and many other things. I have many memories of the opposite, but we will continue to make many memories together. Above all, I hope we can stay healthy. Thanks to wife and let’s make happy time continue.
